This introductory chapter outlines where and how this book contributes original research to the existing scholarship on politics of rentier states in the Arabian Peninsula, as well as the academic work on political Islam through a brief literature review. This book will demonstrate that political Islam serves as a prominent voice critiquing social policies, as well as promoting more strictly political, and often populist or reformist, views supported by a great many Gulf citizens. As laid out in this chapter, this book demonstrates that the way that Islamist organizations operate in the unique environment of the super-rentiers is distinct. It also presents information about the methodology and sources used, as well as a detailed explanation for the use of country cases chosen. The chapter closes by describing the format of the book.

This paper reviews the growing literature on organizational readiness for knowledge management (KM) in both public and private sectors. It is based on literature published during the period 1997-2016. Only original research papers have been included in this literature review. The thematic structure has been adopted. In the beginning, significance of knowledge as well as the significance and definition of KM will be clarified. Afterwards, the underlying problems and methodological issues raised in the literature will be discussed. The paper also reviews the relationship between organizational readiness and organizational and human contributing factors. Finally, significant differences in employees’ attitudes and willingness to be involved in the KM process according to different demographic variables will be examined. Research shows that it is essential to assess organizational readiness before embarking on KM projects. In addition, research indicates that both organizational factors, namely, culture, structure, and information technology (IT) infrastructure, and human factors, namely, acceptance of KM and willingness to participate in the KM process influence, organizational readiness for KM. This study is useful for researchers and practitioners to understand current trends and problems and methodological issues. This paper identifies trends, problems and methodological issues. A mixed-approach investigation consisting of both quantitative and qualitative methods is recommended to provide a comprehensive understanding of the contributing factors influencing organizational readiness for KM.

Previous studies indicated that coastal areas are vulnerable for mosquito-borne diseases. Socio-economic limitations and tidal flooding result in sanitation problems for coastal settlements. Mangrove ecosystems grow on tropical and subtropical coastal areas which can be mosquito breeding and resting places. This study aimed to explore the evidence of the contribution of mangrove ecosystem conditions to mosquito population through a literature review. Articles collection was done by using Scopus, SpringerLink and EBSCO databases. The inclusion criteria in selecting articles to be reviewed are publications in 2010-2020 and containing the words "mangrove" and "mosquito" in the tittle. The exclusion criteria were article in press status, review form (non-original research), retracted status, and the unrelated topics. It was obtained 6 articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Evidence of the association between the dynamics of the mangrove ecosystem and mosquito density is inconsistent. Following future study is needed to confirm and clarify the results of this review, using methodologies and confounding controls that are appropriate both epidemiologically, spatially, and experimentally.

ABSTRACT Depression is a mood disorder which currently affects 350 million individuals worldwide. Recently, research has suggested a protective role of diet for depression. The Mediterranean-style dietary pattern has been highlighted in several systematic reviews as a promising candidate for reducing depressive symptoms. It has been speculated that this could be due to the high polyphenol content of foods commonly found in the diet. Therefore, the aim of this review was to assess the effects of polyphenols found in a Mediterranean diet on the symptoms of depression. A systematic literature review was conducted of original research which assessed the role of polyphenols on the symptoms of depression in humans. The following databases were searched: PROQUEST, SCOPUS (Elsevier), MEDLINE (EBSCO), CINAHL, and EMBase, up to 18 February, 2019. The inclusion criteria consisted of both observational and experimental research in adults aged 18–80 y that assessed depression scores in relation to polyphenol intake. A total of 37 studies out of 12,084 met the full inclusion criteria. Of these, 17 were experimental studies and 20 were observational studies. Several different polyphenols were assessed including those from tea, coffee, citrus, nuts, soy, grapes, legumes, and spices. Twenty-nine of the studies found a statistically significant effect of polyphenols for depression. This review has found both an association between polyphenol consumption and depression risk, as well as evidence suggesting polyphenols can effectively alleviate depressive symptoms. The review uncovered gaps in the literature regarding the role of polyphenols for depressive symptoms in both young adults and men. This review was registered at www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO as CRD42019125747.

A literature review of vaginitis to identify relevance and gaps in diagnosis and treatment. Missed diagnosis in primary care and poor self-diagnosis leads to many women who are left untreated or treated inappropriately. The objective of this article is to review best diagnostic means of vaginitis and the current treatment recommendations for bacterial vaginosis, vulvovaginal candidiasis, and trichomoniasis. A search of literature using Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), PubMed, and MEDLINE was limited to articles published between 1996 and 2014 and included original research, guidelines, and synthesis. Studies varied in quality and design, but several were randomized controlled trials.

Marginalized communities have a prolonged experience of Tuberculosis (TB) with high prevalence. The rationalization behind the high rate is often indicted due to low medication adherence and its cultural and economic aspects. This scoping literature review assessed the influencing factors of patient TB medicine adherence, examined the conceptualization of factors, and determined the gaps related to TB medicine adherence presented in the empirical studies. Three electronic databases had been searched for selecting relevant studies published from 2000 to 2020 March. Studies associated with original research, review, classical and comparative articles on infectious TB in marginalized communities were considered under selection criteria. Finally, thirty articles met the inclusion criteria throughout the Prisma flow diagram; charting table and study characteristics have formed; results were discussed based on the study findings. Indigenous people, ethnic minorities, migrant communities, homeless, prisoners, alcohol and drug users, foreign-born, the working class, sex workers, and immune-compromised individuals suffer more from TB than the mainstream population. The concept of TB medication adherence has been illustrated as a socio-cultural and economic problem, personal beliefs, and the TB recipient's practices regarding illness and health-seeking behaviors. Most of the studies focused on the subjectified experiences of people because the 'recipient's/ patient's perspectives' on medicine adherence were being viewed by outsider’s approach. Few studies recommend prospective learning from the recipient's point of view; examine and conceptualize the political-economic factors for intensifying medication adherence. These records may use further to perform and estimate programs for better health consequences.

Background Understanding the three-dimensional anatomy of the talar neck is essential in assessing reduction of talar neck fractures, as well as in planning surgical correction for talar malunions. However, the geometrical parameters that describe this anatomy are sparsely reported in the literature. Objectives This review aims to identify from the existing literature, those geometrical parameters that describe the three-dimensional anatomy of the talar neck. Methods A scoping literature review will be conducted in accordance with the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. The primary searches will be conducted on the PubMed, EMBASE and Scopus databases, using a pre-defined search strategy. Any original research study (whether clinical or cadaveric, prospective or retrospective, comparative or noncomparative), looking at the human talus neck geometry or morphology will be included. Studies that do not describe the talar neck geometry, animal studies, review articles, conference abstracts and case reports will be excluded. Geometrical parameters (including techniques to measure these) that describe the three-dimensional anatomy of the talar neck will be identified. Qualitative analysis will be done by means of appropriate tables and diagrams. If feasible, quantitative analysis to determine pooled estimated of geometrical parameters identified in the review will be conducted by a random-effects meta-analysis model. No formal risk-of-bias assessment has been planned, as this is a scoping literature review.

Objective: the purpose of this literature review was to evaluate apical debris extrusion after root canal preparation with Protaper Universal and Protaper Next Rotary systems. Material and Methods: the question that supported the collection of scientific evidence for the present study was: Which rotary system presents the best performance regarding the apical extrusion of debris: Protaper Universal or Protaper Next? From the online search databases, a bibliographic research was carried out covering original research studies, using as descriptors: Apical extrusion debris, Protaper Universal and Protaper Next. Articles had to meet the following inclusion criteria: should have been published in the English language from 2014 to 2017 and should compare both mentioned rotary files systems regarding apical extrusion of debris in the same study. Ninety-six articles were found after research and six were included for this integrative review. Results: six studies remained included after the inclusion criteria analysis. Of these, 50% were published in 2016, 16.6% in 2015 and and 33% in 2014. Weight establishment of the extruded material was the methodology used in all studies to evaluate the performance of the files By analyzing the amount of apically extruded material, it was found that the Protaper Universal system extruded more quantity than the Protaper Next system. Conclusion: it was concluded that, although there is no system capable of performing the instrumentation without promoting apical extrusion, the Protaper Next rotary files system presented better performance when compared to the Protaper Universal files system, regarding the apical debris extrusion.
