Abstract The present paper is founded on two pillars. Firstly, it is one of the current trends in education worldwide, i.e. to connect theory and practice. Based upon these two requirements, the ability to communicate in a FL effectively and interculturally appropriately in the tourism industry is a must, since being employed in whichever of its sectors means encountering other cultures on a daily basis. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to find out undergraduate tourism students’ opinion on the importance of intercultural communicative competences for their future profession as well as their self-assessment in the given field. The findings of the research, which are to be compared to employers’ needs, revealed that there is considerable difference between the respondents’ views on the significance of the investigated issues and their self-esteem.

Industries are nowadays not only expected to produce goods and provide services, but also to do this sustainably. What qualifies a company as sustainable implies that its activities must be defined according to the social and ecological responsibilities that are meant to protect the society and the environment in which they operate. From now on, it will be necessary to consider and measure the impact of industrial activities on the environment, and to do so, one key parameter is the carbon footprint. This paper demonstrates the utility of the LCI as a tool for immediate application in industries. Its application shall facilitate decision making in industries while choosing amongst different scenarios to industrialize a certain product with the lowest environmental impact possible. To achieve this, the carbon footprint of a given product was calculated by applying the LCI method to several scenarios that differed from each other only in the supply-chain model. As a result of this LCI calculation, the impact of the globalization of a good’s production was quantified not only financially, but also environmentally. Finally, it was concluded that the LCI/LCA methodology can be considered as a fundamental factor in the new decision-making strategy that sustainable companies must implement while deciding on the business and industrial plan for their new products and services.

Problem statement. The rationale for confidentiality requirements in the process of manufacturing and production testing of aviation equipment samples. There is a need to assess the effectiveness of measures to prevent information leakage through the channels of incidental electromagnetic radiation and interference and vibroacoustic channels. This situation is characteristic both for the technological equipment of the aviation industry enterprises and the equipment of the produced aircraft models.Objective. The rationale for developing the existing concept of assessing the relevance of the threats of information leakage through technical channels in the current trends of improving technical reconnaissance.Results. The article presents the analysis results of the existing regulatory and existing base of FSTEC Russia for sufficient assessment of measures to prevent information leakage through the channels of incidental electromagnetic radiation and interference and vibroacoustic channels at the enterprises of the aircraft industry in the implementation of production technologies and testing of manufactured products.Practical implications. The substantiated directions of improving the methodological basis for determining the current threats can be used in the development of methods and models for assessment of measures to prevent information leakage through the channels of electromagnetic emissions and interference and vibroacoustic channels at aircraft industry enterprises in the implementation of production technologies and testing of manufactured products.

As bacteria continue to develop resistance to our existing treatment options, antibiotic innovation remains overlooked. If current trends continue, then we could face the stark reality of a postantibiotic era, whereby routine bacterial infections could once again become deadly. In light of a warning signaled by the WHO, a number of new initiatives have been established in the hope of reinvigorating the antibiotic drug development pipeline. In this perspective, we aim to summarize some of these initiatives and funding options, as well as providing an insight into the predicament that we face. Using clinical trials data, company website information and the most recent press releases, a current update of the antibiotic drug development pipeline is also included.

The objective of this study is to determine if the implementation of management measures decreases the Carbon Footprint of a Concentrate Store of a company in Lima, Peru. In order to do so, we made use of the Data Registry and Field Sheet, which are fundamental for the calculation of the Carbon Footprint. The results show a decrease from 7.65 tCO2eq in October to 7.03 tCO2eq in November of fuel consumption (Scope 1) and from 10.04 tCO2eq in October to 8.91 tCO2eq in November of electricity consumption (Scope 2). With the results obtained it was determined that the Implementation of management measures decreases the Carbon Footprint of a store of Concentrates of a company.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to study the relation between compensation clawbacks and lawsuits and analyze how these two corporate disciplinary forces interact. This paper hypothesizes that by allowing firms to recoup compensation from managers who breach their fiduciary duty, clawbacks provide a form of discipline that potentially reduces the likelihood of managerial wrongdoing, which, in turn, lowers the risk of corporate lawsuits. Design/methodology/approach This paper identifies whether or not a company in the S&P 1500 had a clawback policy between 2007 and 2014 by searching the company filings and press releases. The authors also construct different proxies for litigation risk and lawsuit outcomes using the Audit Analytics Database. They then perform a variety of empirical tests to examine the association between clawbacks and litigation risk and the association between clawbacks and litigation outcomes. Findings This paper finds that firms with higher litigation risk are more likely to adopt a clawback policy. In addition, after the adoption of clawback provisions, litigation risk significantly declines, suggesting that clawback policies are effective in reducing the likelihood of corporate lawsuits. Furthermore, firms with clawback policies are approximately 50 per cent more likely to have lawsuits against them dismissed or settled for lower amounts (approximately 12 per cent lower). Practical implications The findings of this paper provide insights to the efficacy of a current change in compensation regulation, the mandatory clawback adoption requirement by the Dodd–Frank Act of 2010. Originality/value This paper contributes to the literature on both clawbacks and litigation, as it is the first to analyze the relation between the two.
