The conditions and initiatives for the formation of digital competence, which are part of the reform of Ukrainian education, are analyzed. The possibilities of digital laboratory complexes as an effective tool for the formation of digital competence of students and pupils are identified. It is emphasized that the cost of such equipment is quite high, so the actual and effective alternative is to upgrade existing laboratory equipment with modern digital software and hardware components. The analysis of researches of domestic and foreign scientists is carried out, which gives grounds to assert that the problems of formation of digital competence can be formed, in particular in the process of modernization and use of the updated educational experiment in physics. The problems of effective methods of updating the educational physical experiment and its promotion of the development of information and digital competence of students and pupils are clarified. A modernized experimental setup for studying pendulum oscillations is described. The main characteristics and features of equipment manufacturing are considered, in particular the use of Arduino platform, means of microelectronic circuitry and three - dimensional prototyping. Practical recommendations for the use of the complex in a training experiment in physics are offered. The approbation of the complex in the educational process and research work was carried out, which confirmed the effectiveness of the use of modernized equipment as a tool for the formation of information and digital competence of pupils and students.

School curriculum introduces pupils to some aspects of the pattern of life, science and culture, which, in the society’s opinion, are a very important part of the educational process. One of the aims of school is to prepare pupils for life. Knowledge is essential, but skills and attitudes are not less important in the educational process and we can develop them by preventive research works. Preventative research works at Vilnius Jesuit Gymnasium have been included into the course of biology. The aim of the research was to demonstrate the effect of some chemicals on a living organism practically. The article presents the methodical instructions for the following research works: • The effect of the cigarette smoke on the germination and development of plants; • The effect of the cigarette smoke on the vegetation of plants; • The effect of inhalants on the germination, development and vegetation of plants; • The effect of alcohol on the germination and development of plants; • The effect of alcohol on the vegetation of plants. The research work is a very effective part of the prevention programme because students analyse final results with great interest, get involved into discussions, try to find causes, search for information and ask questions. This type of research work is very convenient because it is possible to carry it out in the classroom, it is not necessary to have sophisticated laboratory equipment and the results are seen in short time. The research works are integrated into the curriculum and help to achieve the goals set in general programmes and educational standards. Key words: school’s prevention program, nature study, research works.

In this research work, a new design concept for shrouded turbines is introduced using a circular flange ring instead of a diffuser. The performance of a wind turbine shrouded with the conventional configuration of flanged diffusers is firstly investigated. This allows comparison to be made with the performance of the new design proposed in this project. The bare turbine used in this research work is a horizontal axis wind turbine with a diameter of 0.6 m, and the flange height is 10% of the diameter. The performance of the shrouded turbine is investigated using computational fluid dynamics; by solving the flow field using three-dimensional Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes for incompressible flow. Findings indicate that the performance of the turbine shrouded with the flange ring is superior to the bare turbine by 33%. It also has benefit over the conventional design as this new design concept is simpler and uses lesser material since it is not using the diffuser, which favorably in turn will reduce the cost. Subsequently, the findings of this research may have the potential to expedite the developments of green-source energy that undoubtedly could benefit the entire growing wind turbine industry.

The microwave oven has become a standard appliance to reheat or cook meals in households and convenience stores. However, the main problem of microwave heating is the non-uniform temperature distribution, which may affect food quality and health safety. A three-dimensional mathematical model was developed to simulate the temperature distribution of four ready-to-eat sausages in a plastic package in a stationary versus a rotating microwave oven, and the model was validated experimentally. COMSOL software was applied to predict sausage temperatures at different orientations for the stationary microwave model, whereas COMSOL and COMSOL in combination with MATLAB software were used for a rotating microwave model. A sausage orientation at 135° with the waveguide was similar to that using the rotating microwave model regarding uniform thermal and electric field distributions. Both rotating models provided good agreement between the predicted and actual values and had greater precision than the stationary model. In addition, the computational time using COMSOL in combination with MATLAB was reduced by 60% compared to COMSOL alone. Consequently, the models could assist food producers and associations in designing packaging materials to prevent leakage of the packaging compound, developing new products and applications to improve product heating uniformity, and reducing the cost and time of the research and development stage.

Abstract This research work is to study the numerical solution of three-dimensional second-order hyperbolic telegraph equations using an efficient local meshless method based on radial basis function (RBF). The model equations are used in nuclear material science and in the modeling of vibrations of structures. The explicit time integration technique is utilized to semi-discretize the model in the time direction whereas the space derivatives of the model are discretized by the proposed local meshless procedure based on multiquadric RBF. Numerical experiments are performed with the proposed numerical scheme for rectangular and non-rectangular computational domains. The proposed method solutions are converging quickly in comparison with the different existing numerical methods in the recent literature.

A full-fledged transformation is impossible without the use of new didactic approaches and without the creation of a qualitatively new educational and methodological support. This is due to the peculiarities of the modern student. Modern students were born and grew up in an information-saturated world and they are dominated by clip thinking, which is focused on processing information in short portions. Based on this, the problem of developing such training programs that would be aimed at independent work, based on game methods of presenting information, would take into account the psychophysiological features of perception, processing and storage of information by a modern person becomes urgent. To solve this problem, the authors analyzed the results of cognitive psychology research, conducted a self-analysis of the experience of developing and implementing three-dimensional interactive training programs in the educational process. The paper reveals the problems and disadvantages of traditional ways of presenting information. Examples of the implementation of interactive training applications are shown. The method of organizing a distributed distance learning system is presented. The conducted research allowed us to outline ways to modernize educational and methodological support by using interactive applications, mobile learning, resource allocation, introduction of modern digital solutions and creation of a comfortable educational environment.
