This study was aimed at investigating whether there was a significant effect of using improvisation  technique on students’ speaking ability. The research question of this study was “Is there any significant effect of using improvisation technique on students’ speaking ability at the second grade of SMA Negeri 1 Kusambi?”. The sample of this study was students at XI IPA 3 consisting of 11 males and 15 females who were chosen using purposive sampling. The instrument of this study was a speaking test. To analyze the result of this study, the researcher used paired sample t-test computed in SPSS 16.0. It was conducted to compare the scores of pre-test and post-test in experimental class. After analyzing the data, it was found that there was a significant difference in the scores for pre-test (M= 1.47, SD= 0.38) and post- test (M= 2.85, SD= 0.45). The probability value was .000 (<.05) It means that there was a significance difference on students’ speaking ability before and after the use of improvisation technique. Keywords: Speaking Ability, Teaching Speaking, Improvisation Technique.

This research aimed at findings out whether or not the students were able to improve their writing strategy and whether the students able to use  List, Inquire and Note Strategy in writing or not. This research used a pre – experimental method  with one group pre – test and post – test  design. The population was the second grade  students of Analkes Muhammdiyah Makassar.  The sample were 24 students by using purposive sampling by taking one class . The data was analyzed into precentage, mean score analysis and value of t – test. The result of the data analysis showed that the students’ writing achievement, in pre – test was X1 = 54,6 and post – test X2 = 71,1. The result of the t – test value was (24,19) is greater than the t – table value was (2,601) this indicates that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative  hypothesis (H1) is accepted. There is significant difference of the students’ writing achievement before and after presenting  materials by using LINK strategy. Based on the findings  and discussions of the research the writer concludes  that  using List, Inquire, Note,  Strategy can improve the ability of the students of Analkes Muhammadiyah in writing.

This research aimed to find out whether or not Mistake Buster Technique is effective to be used in writing a recount composition and find out the extent to which Mistake Buster Technique improve the ability of students in writing a recount composition for the Second Grade Students. A  quasi-experimental design was employed  with two  classes of the  second graders at  one school  in Makassar selected  purposively as a sample.  The data were obtained through a pre-test and a post-test.  The writing  assessment was adopted  from  Depdikbud  (1996)  covering language use and organization.  The findings were analyzed statistically sing independent t-test procedure.The research findings indicated that the use of Mistake Buster Technique could improve the students‘ writing skill in language use and organization in writing recount composition. It was proved by the students’ mean score of experimental class in pre-test was (10.125) and in post-test was (65.5).While the mean score of control class in pre-test was (9.375) and in post-test was (41.125). The findings of this research shows that the value of t-test in the posttest is higher than t table (4.28 > 2,02). It means that there was a significant difference of the students’ writing skill in language use and organization in writing recount composition before and after being taught using Mistake Buster Technique at the Second Grade of SMPN 33 Makassar. The statistical computation showed that Mistake Buster Technique was likely effective in improving the students’ writing skill on language use and organization in writing recount composition.

This research aimed to find out whether or not the use of guided questions in Tutorial System improved the students� speaking ability of Easy Speak. Easy Speak was an English course situated in Makassar. The method of this research was pre-experimental. In collecting data, the researcher used speaking test in pre-test and post-test. The population of the research was 737 students. In this research, the researcher used purposive sampling technique which consisted of 25 students. The results of this research showed that the mean score of pre-test were 62,17 and 75,15 in post-test and the value of t-test was 7,23 which is greater than t-table 2.05 at the level of significance (a) = 0.05, so the null hypotheses was rejected, and alternative hypotheses (H1) was accepted. The researcher concluded that there was significant difference of the students� speaking ability of Easy Speak after giving treatment using guided questions.

This study was aimed to find out  whether or not (1) there was a significant difference in speaking achievement before and after the students were taught through time token arends strategy, and (2) there was a significant difference in speaking achievement between the students who were taught through time token arends strategy and those who were not. The sample of this study was 60 eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Palembang which was chosen by using purposive sampling. It was divided into experimental and control groups, and each group had 30 students. To collect the data, pretest and posttest were given to the students. In scoring the students’ pretest and posttest, the writer used the rubric by Harris (1996). Then, the data were analyzed by using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test in SPSS Version 24. The result of paired sample t-test showed that the p-value was lower than significance level (0.003<0.05). It means that there was a significant difference in speaking  achievement before and after the students were taught through time token arends strategy. The result of independent sample t-test showed that the p-value was lower than significance level (0.006<0.05). It means that there was a significant difference in speaking achievement between the students who were taught through time token arends strategy and those who were not. In brief, time token arends strategy is helpful in enhancing students’ speaking achievement. Keywords: Improvement, Speaking Skill, Time Token Arends

This study aimed at finding out the students’ speaking skill by using debate.The research design used a pre-experimental, in which it used the pre-test and post-test comparison to find out the result of the research. The population of the research was all students of the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Perguruan Tinggi Islam Makassar which consisted of three classes. Each class consists of more than 20 students, so the total number of population was 85 students. Among the total number of population, the researcher took one class to be a sample of this research by using purposive sampling technique. The instruments of this research were speaking test and recording. To analyze the score of the students’ achievement in pre-test and post-test, the researcher used t-test analyses. The result of the data showed that there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test. The value of t-test (6.35) was greater than the t-table (1.729) at the level of significant (p) = 0.05 and degree of freedom (df) = 19. It can be said that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. Which means that there was a significant difference between the students’ speaking ability before and after using debate or it can be said that the use of debate was effective in improving the students’ speaking skill at the Eleventh Grade of SMA Perguruan Tinggi Islam Makassar?Keywords: Debate Technique, Speaking Ability

We tested the use of reminder techniques to increase participation of Sekertariat Direktorat Jenderal Pemasyarakatan employeesi to complete and update their staffing data independently through the design of one group pre-post test. We weight the completeness of data from each employee based on information categories. Those who are still incomplete are then given a reminder in the form of a circular to immediately complete the staffing data. We find that there is an increase in completeness of data from an average number of completeness 64.94% to 75,22%. Paired sample t-test results show that there is a significant difference (t = 24.198; n = 176; p<0.0005; d= .77) between conditions before and after the intervention is given to employees.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat pengaruh video pembelajaran interaktif terhadap kemampuan mengenal warna pada anak usia 4-5 tahun. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pre experimental dengan jenis one group pretest posttest design. Sampel yang digunakan adalah anak usia 4-5 tahun yang berjumlah 20 orang, dengan teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan sampling jenuh. Indikator kemampuan kognitif yang digunakan adalah kemampuan mengklasifikasikan warna, kemampuan mengurutkan benda berdasarkan 5 seri warna, dan kemampuan menyebutkan warna. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar observasi yang digunakan untuk melakukan pretest dan posttest. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji paired sample T-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang cukup signifikan pada nilai rata-rata hasil pretest dan nilai hasil posttest pada indikator mengklasifikasikan warna memiliki nilai; indikator mengurutkan benda berdasarkan 5 seriasi warna; dan indikator menyebutkan warna. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat pengaruh penggunaan video pembelajaran interaktif terhadap kemampuan mengenal warna pada anak usia 4-5 tahun.The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of interactive educational videos on children, specially aged 4-5 years, in recognizing colors. The research used pre-experimental method, with one group pre test post test design. The participants were 20 children aged 4-5 years, which recruited using saturated sampling. Indicators of cognitive abilities used in this research were focusing on the ability to classify colors, to sort objects based on 5 color series, and to name the colors. The data were collected through observation using observation sheets before and after the introduction of the interactive educational videos which was conducted for five days. Data analysis was performed using the normality test, homogeneity test, and paired sample T-test. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the mean value of the pretest and posttest results on each indicator. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of the use of interactive educational videos on the ability to recognize colors in children aged 4-5 years.

The objectives of this study were to find out whether or not (1) there was any significant difference in narrative writing achievement between before and after the tenth graders of SMA Negeri Unggul 4 Palembang were taught by using POW+WWW W=2 H=2 strategy and (2) there was any significant difference in narrative writing achievement between the students who were taught by using POW+WWW W=2 H=2 strategy and the those who were not. The sample of this study was tenth graders of SMA Unggul Negeri 4 Palembang chosen by using convenience sampling method. There were two groups, namely experimental group and control group. To collect the data, pre-test and post-test were given. The data were analyzed using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test in SPSS version 22. The results of paired sample t-test showed that there was a significant difference in narrative writing achievement between before and after the tenth graders of SMA Negeri Unggul 4 Palembang were taught by using POW+WWW W=2 H=2 strategy as the r-value was lower than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). The results of independent sample t-test showed that there was a significant difference in narrative writing achievement between the students who were taught by using POW+WWW W=2 H=2 strategy and those who were not as the r-value was lower than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). In conclusion, using POW+WWW W=2 H=2 Strategy is effective to improve narrative writing achievement of the tenth graders of SMA Unggul Negeri 4 Palembang.

ABSTRACTThe objectives of this study were to find out whether or not: (1) there was a significant difference in Descriptive Writing achievement after the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara were taught by using internet meme picture and (2) there was a significant difference in Descriptive Writing achievement between the students who were taught by using internet meme pictures and those who were not. The samples of this study were X MIPA 1 and X MIPA 2 with the total number of 64 students. To collect the data, each group was given pre-test and post-test of writing. The data were analyzed by using Paired Sample t-test and Independent Sample t-test in SPSS version 22. The results from Paired Sample t-test showed that there was a significant difference in Descriptive Writing achievement before and after the tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara were taught by using Internet Meme Picture. The result from Independent Sample t-test of the post-test in both experimental and control groups showed that there was a significant difference in Descriptive Writing achievement between the students who were taught by using Internet Meme Picture and those who were not as the r-value both of Paired Sample t-test and Independent Sample t-test results were lower than 0.05 (0.000 < .05).  ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah: (1) ada perbedaan yang signifikan dalam menulis deskriptif setelah siswa kelas sepuluh SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara diajarkan dengan menggunakan Internet Meme Picture dan (2) ada perbedaan yang signifikan dalam penulisan deskriptif antara siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan Internet Meme Picture dengan mereka yang tidak. Sampel penelitian ini adalah kelas X MIPA 1 dan X MIPA 2 dengan jumlah total 64 siswa. Untuk mengumpulkan data, setiap kelompok diberikan pre-test dan post-test penulisan. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan Paired Sample t-test dan Independent Sample t-test dengan SPSS versi 22. Hasil dari Paired Sample t-test menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan dalam penulisan deskriptif sebelum dan sesudah siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara diajarkan dengan menggunakan Internet Meme Picture. Hasil Independent Sample t-test dari post-test di kedua kelompok yaitu eksperimen dan kontrol menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan dalam prestasi penulisan deskriptif antara siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan Internet Meme Picture dan dengan mereka yang tidak. This study is proposed (1) to find out the extent of students reading descriptive texts before and after they are taught using Co-op Co-op method, (2) to find out whether there was a significant different of the students reading comprehension skill before and after they are taught using Co-op Co-op. The type of the research was experiment and methods of collecting data were pre-test and post-test. The population of this study was the second grade students of SMPN 1 Kayen Pati. This study took two classes randomly as the samples. Those were VIIIA as the experimental class and VIIIC as the control class. Each of class had 40 students. Short answer test was used to collect the data. Before the test was given, it was tried out. After the data was computed and it was found out that 20 items were valid. The result of the study shows that students in experimental class who were taught using Co-op Co-op method had better achievement than students in control class who were taught without Co-op Co-op. The average score of pre-test of the experimental class was 71 and post-test was 76. The average score of pre-test of the control class was 70,75 and post-test was 72,75. The pre-test and posttest score then were calculated to get the t-test to know whether there was significant difference between the experimental class and control class. The t-test was 3,108 and t-table was 1,991. Then t-test and t-table were compared. The data shows that t-test was higher than t-table. It means that there was significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. Based on the findings, the students in the experiment group looked more excited with the use of Co-op Co-op in teaching reading descriptive text. In the control class, the writer also found that the students learned and tried to get information of the reading texts individually. Consequently, it affected the students’ achievement in reading descriptive text. Therefore, it can be concluded that Co-op Co-op is an effective method in teaching reading descriptive texts. Thus it is recommended to use Co-op Co-op in teaching reading, especially descriptive text.
