The cause of AKI at delivery is the presence of complicating factors during labor. To save mather and baby during childbirth due to labor complicating factors, one of them is by performing section caesarea, the most frequent impact felt by klien post section caesarea is pain. Pain has a very complex impact on the care of post partum mothers, includin Activity of Daily Living (ADL) is impaired. Non pharmacological management to reduce pain can be a progressive muscle relaxation technique. This study aims to determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation techniques on pain at clients of post sectio caesarea in RSUD Kota Bandung. This study is a pre experimental study with one group pre test post test design approach. The number of sample in this study is 20 persons selected in purposive sampling technique. The applied instrument is Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and work procedure of progressive muscle relaxation. The data is then analyzed by wilcoxon test. The study reveals that more than half of clients post operative sectio caesarea were on pain scale 6 before progressive muscle relaxation and almost half had pain scale 3 and 4 after progressive muscle relaxation. And acquired p value = 0.000, so it was concluded that there was influence of progressive muscle relaxation to pain scale to the clients of  sectio caesarea.  The results of this study it’s expected that progressive muscle relaxation technique can be used as reference for making SOP in the room and can be used as a non pharmacological intervention in pain management

Anxiety neurosis is the most common mental disorder in society. Progressive muscle relaxation is an independent nursing intervention that can be chosen to reduce anxiety in schizophrenia patients. This case study aims to prove that progressive muscle relaxation can help reduce anxiety levels in schizophrenic patients. The study design is descriptive in the form of a case study with a nursing process approach, applying progressive muscle relaxation techniques to schizophrenic patients who experience problems with anxiety levels. The sample was two adult schizophrenic patients who experienced anxiety in Eredah Complex Mental Health Hospital. The patient's anxiety was measured by the Zung-Self Anxiety Rating Scale. The progressive muscle relaxation procedure is performed 2 times over two days with a duration of 20-30 minutes each session. Hemodynamic measurements and anxiety levels were performed pre-post progressive muscle relaxation. The results of the case study showed that progressive muscle relaxation interventions affected reducing patient anxiety levels. The mean score of the patient's anxiety decreased by 30.34% after being given progressive muscle relaxation. Progressive muscle relaxation is effectively applied to schizophrenic patients with anxiety disorders in nursing service settings.

Pain is one of the most frequent symptoms observed in patients and various treatments are proposed for its relief, including relaxation techniques. With the purpose of testing the effect of a specific intervention (progressive muscle relaxation) in a determined situation (pain), this study aimed at verifying the level of pain in post-surgery patients prior to and after the application of the Progressive Muscle Relaxation technique. The subjects, 61 patients, had been submitted to abdominal surgical interventions, of which 52.5% had a gynecological nature and 47.5% obstetrical. Our data showed statistically significant alterations in life parameters as well as muscular alterations after the application of the Progressive Muscle Relaxation technique. It was concluded that the use of the Progressive Muscle Relaxation Technique enabled the subjects to determine that their pain levels decreased.

Background: Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is an instrument for an evaluation test to asses observable skills. However, this situation of the test can lead to anxiety for students expressed in affective and somatic signs. Progressive muscle relaxation technique is one of non-pharmacology therapies and can be used to decrease the affective and somatic signs in the students. Objective: This study aims to determine effects of the progressive muscle relaxation technique on affective and somatic signs in nursing students when taking the OSCE. Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental with a pre-test and post- group design. Fifty eight participants were selected by inclusion criteria and divided into two groups (a treatment group and a control group). The progressive muscle relaxation before the OSCE was conducted for 30 minutes. Zung’s self-rating anxiety (ZSAS) was applied to measure the affective signs. A sphygmomanometer, manual heart rate palpation, and thorax inspection were used to measure the somatic signs. The data were analysed by using a Wilcoxon test. Results: The Wilcoxon test showed that the effects of progressive muscle relaxation technique on the affective signs indicated p-value of 0.0001 (p<0.005). Then it also affected the somatic signs as occurred in systolic blood pressure with p-value of 0.00, diastolic blood pressure with p-value of 0.004, heart rate with p-value of 0.00, and respiration rate with p-value of 0.00. The affective and somatic signs in the treatment group decreased after the treatment was given. However, they were not found in the control group. Conclusion: There are effects of progressive muscle relaxation technique on affective and somatic signs in nursing students when taking the OSCE. The affective and somatic signs in the treatment group were lower than in the control group.
