“Pandemic social work” is a new concept put forward by academia in response to the epidemic, and it also points to a new field in which social work is emerging. Although most scholars mainly study its specific role in the current anti-epidemic, they do not define the meaning and field of this concept clearly, revealing the functional positioning of social work in the anti-epidemic in general, not only for the current global anti-epidemic Work has an adverse effect, and it is not without harm to the construction of this new field. Defining the concept and field of “Epidemic Social Work” needs to start from the nature of social work and learn from the successful experience of social work in other disaster areas. It is preliminarily delineated that epidemic social work is a branch of disaster social work. At the same time, in addition to conceptual clarification and field division, it also attempts to explore the theoretical basis and intervention mode of “Epidemic Social Work,” which is a new field of social work. The construction and current epidemic guidance are of great significance, and its value is obvious.

For effective forming of creative competence in future social work experts, we suggested using the creative approach to organization of educational process in a higher educational establishment, using the potential of different disciplines in the process of professional training. We clarified the main aspects of shaping of creative competence in future social workers in classroom and outside classroom, as well as main forms of the methodology of such training. The use of the mentioned approaches will give an opportunity to shape creative competence in future social workers for work with gifted children.

This article presents the results of a study of practitioners’ and experts’ vision for implementing integrated services that combine healthcare and social work in Bulgaria. Sixty-four respondents ( n = 64) were recruited to participate in interviews ( n = 17) and focus groups ( n = 47). The need for a conceptual clarification and a common vision for integrated social and healthcare services was evident, including the approaches to organization, service provision, management, and funding. More extensive studies about the perspectives for successful integration of healthcare and social services in Bulgaria, based on the analysis of current needs and resources, are required.

This chapter discusses the core theoretical concepts that relate to family group conferences (FGCs). Social work theory has long shaped the practice of the profession, but it is only in recent years that social workers are being asked to evidence the theoretical basis to their interventions, in assessment and court reports. As such, it is crucial that social workers understand the theoretical basis to their work and for them to be recognised as skilled and research-informed practitioners in their own right, given the evidence-based practice landscape of social care. For policy makers, having an understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of the FGC model and the relationship between FGCs and what is considered to be good social work practice is significant. The theoretical framework ensures that the model is given credibility and offers the potential for it to become a viable alternative to existing processes.

Learning communities are becoming increasingly common as a means of assisting incoming students with their transition to college. They have been shown to improve student retention, academic performance, and student-faculty relationships. Learning communities are prime examples of groupwork in action, and can provide opportunities for educators to teach and model social groupwork concepts and principles. This paper 1) defines and describes learning communities, 2) discusses the theoretical basis for the application of groupwork principles to the learning community experience, and 3) describes and assesses three years of experience with the application of groupwork principles in social work learning communities in an undergraduate university in the Midwestern United States.

The article refers to the need to change the existing view of the development in adolescence. We provide the data of observations of the behavior of teenagers in theonlinegame "DragonNest" conductedin 2013 by experts of the Center of social and psychological adaptation and development of adolescents "Crossroads" of MSUPE, which led to the assumption about the problems arising in adolescence. As a theoretical basis for the construction of this work was selected restorative approach, which is a practical application of the cultural-historical theory and of activity theory to social and psychological assistance to adolescents. The analysis of the activity of the teenager in the game, the structure of communication, observation on the adolescents in online gaming space allowed us to make assumptions about the role of communication with peers in a modern society in terms of identity formation and development of adolescents.

Various methods of video-enhanced microscopy combine TV cameras with light microscopes creating images with improved resolution, contrast and visibility of fine detail, which can be recorded rapidly and relatively inexpensively. The AVEC (Allen Video-enhanced Contrast) method avoids polarizing rectifiers, since the microscope is operated at retardations of λ/9- λ/4, where no anomaly is seen in the Airy diffraction pattern. The iris diaphram is opened fully to match the numerical aperture of the condenser to that of the objective. Under these conditions, no image can be realized either by eye or photographically. Yet the image becomes visible using the Hamamatsu C-1000-01 binary camera, if the camera control unit is equipped with variable gain control and an offset knob (which sets a clamp voltage of a D.C. restoration circuit). The theoretical basis for these improvements has been described.

In the electron microscopy of biological sections the adverse effect of chromatic aberration on image resolution is well known. In this paper calculations are presented for the inelastic and elastic image intensities using a wave-optical formulation. Quantitative estimates of the deterioration in image resolution as a result of chromatic aberration are presented as an alternative to geometric calculations. The predominance of inelastic scattering in the unstained biological and polymeric materials is shown by the inelastic to elastic ratio, I/E, within an objective aperture of 0.005 rad for amorphous carbon of a thickness, t=50nm, typical of biological sections; E=200keV, I/E=16.

This report describes an unusual and persistent dysphonia in two young women who had taken a therapeutic regimen of isotretinoin for intractable acne. We report perceptual and instrumental data for their dysphonia, and pose a theoretical basis for the relationship of dysphonia to this drug. We also provide recommendations for reducing the risk of acquiring a dysphonia during the course of treatment with isotretinoin.
