The research is interested in analyzing and focusing on students' errors in writing descriptive text such as developing ideas, organizing ideas, grammar, mechanics, and using vocabulary better. This research aims to analyze the errors in writing students of descriptive text in the VII grade of SMP N 4 Takengon. This research used a qualitative method, technique of collecting data by observation, interview, and documentation. Based on the result, the writer concluded:  After researching and analyzing the data, the writer concludes as the kinds of errors in writing students of descriptive text at VII grade of SMP N 4 Takengon are from three aspects they are adjective, conjunction, and present tense. The finding shows the total error of students in writing adjectives, which is 23 students. In the total error of students in writing conjunctions, there were 24 students. The total error of students in writing the present tense, which is 21 students. If it is related to the student's error statement in writing, the value of about 94% and 166.6% total wrong word in error because students' understanding is still low about writing.

This research was quasi-experimental research that aimed to find out the extent of the improvement students' writing ability by using the Four Square Technique on the descriptive text at students X SMAN 3 Takalar. the researcher took 53 samples, 28 students as the experimental group and 25 students as the control group. The research data was obtained by giving a pre-test and post-test and analyzed by using the Dependent Sample T- Test. The result of the data showed that students' writing ability improved. It was proved from score result of tobs (16,673) which was higher than ttable (2.052) and sig. P (0.05) was higher than sig.score (0.000). Students' writing ability improve by 0.1% after using the Four Square Technique from pre-test mean score was 65.07 and the post-test mean score was 75.14. So, it can be concluded that using Four Square Technique can improve students' writing ability in writing a descriptive text at students X SMAN 3 Takalar. By using it, students showed that they can be motivated in writing, students more easily generate and organize their ideas into a text so that students’ writing was more organized also easy to understand.

English and Indonesian are grammatically different. The difference proves that the rules and the application of grammar are the difficult problems in writing English. Based on previous preliminary research, many Third-Semester students of English Education Study Program had problems using grammar. This is supported by the results of unstructured interviews by researcher against students. Then students made mistakes they cannot correct called errors. As English Education students, they must have good competence in all language skills to become a good English teacher. In the future, students will teach writing effectively if they master the grammatical understanding.This research’s objectives were to find: (1) The the types of grammatical errors based on surface strategy taxonomy found in students’ descriptive essay,(2) The dominant grammatical error based on surface strategy taxonomy found in students’ descriptive essay,(3) The factors causing students made grammatical error in writing descriptive essays.To achieve the objectives, a qualitative method is used. Data collected by observation, interview and documentation from students’ descriptive essay worksheet then analyzed using error analysis.The findings of the research: (1) Grammatical errors are Misformation (3rd Person Singular, Plural, Auxiliary Verb, Dictionaries, Preposition, Conjunction, Pronoun, Singular, Simple Present Tense, Simple Past Tense), Omission (Simple Present Tense, Agreement, Auxiliary Verb, Plural, Article, Pronoun, Conjunction, Preposition, Adverb), Addition (Simple Additions, Double Marking), Misordering (Adjective, Pronoun, Auxiliary Verb). (2) The dominant grammatical error is Misformation with 47.05% from 170 errors. (3) The factors causing error are Interlingual and Intralingual.

One of the curriculum’s expectations at the fourth semester of english department in Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan (IPTS) is students are able to write narrative text. But in fact, students’ writing narrative text ability is still low, so researcher conduct a research in that field. The purposes of this research are to find out: 1) the extent of students’ writing narrative text ability, and 2) the significant effect of using character oriented local wisdom based learning model on students’ writing narrative text ability at the fourth semester students of english department in IPTS. The method of research is mix method by combining quantitative and qualitative method. The researcher collected the data by using interview and composition writing test. The sample was taken by using total sampling technique, it was 25 students. The data were then analyzed by using descriptive and inferential analysis, it was t-test formula by Arikunto. The findings of the research are the mean score of students’ writing ability before using character oriented local wisdom based learning model was 53.54 which categorized bad, then after using character oriented local wisdom based learning model was 82.50 which categorized good. The hypothesis testing showed that t-test was higher than t-table, it means that the hypothesis is accepted. It clearly seen that there is a significant effect of character oriented local wisdom based learning model on students’ writing narrative text ability at the fourth semester students of english department in IPTS.

ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengangkat masalah mengenai penggunaan media kado ilmu dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis cerpen pada peserta didik. Penelitian ini merupakan salah satu jenis penelitian tindakan Kelas (PTK). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitataif yaitu pengumpulan data berupa data yang ditemukan pada saat melakukan penelitian dengan menggunakan media kadoilmu pada pesertadidik. Teknik yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini yaitu teknik non tes berupa observasi (pengamatan) terhadap peserta didik dan pendidik, dan teknik tes berupa hasil pekerjaan peserta didik yang di lakukan untuk mengetahui presentase ketuntasan hasilbelajar peserta didik. Teknik analisis data yaitu data hasil pekerjaan peserta didik yang dianalisis dengan cara membaca, memeriksa, dan menilai. Sehingga berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media kado ilmu dapat meningkatkan kemampuan peserta didik dalam menuli scerpen, yakni dengan adanya ketuntasan belajar peserta didik pada siklus 1 yang tuntas 8 orang atau 28,57%, yang tidak tuntas 20 orang atau 71,43% sedangkan pada siklus II jumlahpeserta didik yang tuntasmeningkat menjadi 27 orang atau 96,42%, dengan 1 orang atau 4,00% yang menunjukan tidak tuntas.KATA KUNCI: Media Kadoilmu,Cerpen,Pesertadidik. > THE USE OF SCIENTIFIC MEDIA MEDIA IN IMPROVING THE WRITING ABILITY OF STUDENTS IN EDUCATION ABSTRACT: This study aims to raise the issue of the use of science gift media in improving short story writing skills in students. This research is one type of Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research uses descriptive qualitative method that is data collection in the form of data found at the time of conducting research using gift items on students. The techniques used in this study are non-test techniques in the form of observations (observers) of students and educators, and test techniques in the form of student work done to determine the percentage of completeness of student learning outcomes. Data analysis technique is the data of students' work which is analyzed by reading, checking, and assessing. So based on the results of the study it was concluded that learning by using science gift media can improve the ability of students in writing scerpenes, namely by completing the learning of students in cycle 1 which is complete 8 people or 28.57%, which is not completed 20 people or 71, 43% while in the second cycle the number of students who completed completed increased to 27 people or 96.42%, with 1 person or 4.00% who showed incomplete.KEYWORDS: Kadoilmu Media, Short Stories, Islamic Education Participants

This study is aimed to know teaching learning process in writing by using padlet application for Primary Education Department’s students whether there is improvement of students writing English skill by using that application. Subject of this research was third semester students of Primary Education Department. This is a Classroom Action Research. In collecting the data, the writer  used some techniques: observation, interview, and writing test. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Result of this research were: those application can be implemented as online writing practices every time that made students ability improve, the situation of wall in padlet can stimulate students to explore idea because they could upload video, recording, or picture suitable with topic that can support their writing. Students improvement in writing can be seen from postest score in every cycles. Based on the results above, it can be concluded that implementing padlet application can improve students Non English Department’ writing skill.

<p><span lang="EN-US">This research discusses the use of short story on YouTube in teaching simple present tense to Accounting students. The development of technology has influenced in English teaching learning ways. There are some skills that should be mastered by the learners in learning English, they are listening, speaking, reading and writing. Technology can be used in all English skills, such as the use of YouTube in teaching writing. There are many short stories on YouTube that can be used as one of the media in teaching writing. Simple present is used to show the activity which is done repeatedly. It is also used to show about general truth or fact. It is chosen as the students, especially Accounting students, still have difficulties in implementing simple present in the sentence. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative method and the participants of this research were the students from Accounting Department, 1st semester of University Bina Sarana Informatika. The results of the research are: (1) most students have understood about the pattern of the verb used in simple present tense; (2) most of them have known about using verbs or auxiliary verbs; and (3) some of them made mistakes of the writing of the verb and auxiliary verb.</span></p>

Writing is an important skill of language skills. Writing ability is also an essential goal of learning a foreign language. To achieve the desired goals, Arabic needs an effective and proportionate learning strategy for students' ability. Ibn Sina University for Education Sciences Kepanjen is one of the universities in which the Department of Arabic Language Education in Malang and with it the subjects that promote the skill of writing. Students learn these subjects in 3 semesters from the fifth through the seventh. Therefore, the teacher or teacher must use a positive strategy so that students do not feel bored. The researcher used the qualitative research approach and the descriptive approach. The result is that there are a number of strategies that contribute to the improvement of the process of teaching Arabic at Ibn Sina University for the sciences of education, especially in the skill of writing. These strategies are the PAKEM strategy in which the Guided Composition strategy, the Pragraf Building strategy and the Power of Two strategy have promoted the interest of students in the writing skill lesson.تعتبر الكتابة مهارة مهمة من مهارات اللغة. كما تعتبر القدرة على الكتابة هدفا أساسيا من أهداف تعلم اللغة الأجنبية. وللوصول إلى الأهداف المرجوة، تحتاج اللغة العربية إلى استيراتيجية تعليمها الفعال والمتناسب بقدرة الطلاب. جامعة ابن سينا لعلوم التربية كبنجين هي من إحدى الجامعات التي فيها قسم تعليم اللغة العربية في مالانق ومعها المواد الدراسية التي ترقي مهارة الكتابة. يتعلم الطلاب تلك المواد الدراسية خلال 3 فصول منذ فصل الخامس حتى فصل السابع. فلذلك لا بد على المعلم أو معلمة أن يستخدم استيراتيجية جذابية لكي لا يشعر الطلاب بالملل. واستخدمت الباحثة مدخل البحث الكيفي والمنهج الوصفي، وخرج بالنتائج هي: أن هناك مجموعة من الاستراتيجيات التي تسهم في إنجاج عملية تعليم اللغة العربية في جامعة ابن سينا لعلوم التربية خاصة في مهارة الكتابة. وتلك الاستيراتيجيات هي إستيراتيجية PAKEM التي فيها استيراجية Guided Composition واستيراتيجية Paragraf Building واستيراتيجية The Power of Two وكانت تلك الاستيراتيجية تسبب ترقية اهتمام الطلاب في درس مهارة الكتابة.

Extensive reading was an approach when the readers read extensively. They read a lot of materials then get enjoyment in the process of reading. The purpose of this research was to describe the process of implementing extensive reading program by using book club discussion in writing class. This research was done on first semester of academic writing students. It was about 20 students. The result showed that the implementation of book club discussion did not only give positive trend to students’ reading ability but also their writing ability. Extensive reading program build students’ vocabulary and grammar. Furthermore, during the implementation of this program they learnt a lot about process of writing particularly in making a summary. Finally, extensive reading program made gain for students’ vocabulary, grammar, and writing. Keywords: Exstensive Rading Program, Book Club Discussion, Writing Class

This research aims to find out the errors made by the students in constructing the negative and interrogative sentences by using the simple present tense. Those errors were classified into four types, namely omission, addition, misformation, and misordering based on surface strategy taxonomy from Daulay. The researchers used a descriptive qualitative method to find the result. The subject of this research was the VIII-A class of SMP Negeri 40 Medan that consisted of 30 students. The instrument for gathering the data was the essay test, which included 20 affirmative sentences, which asked to form those sentences into the negative and interrogative sentences. The findings indicated that the students' errors in this study were 318 (50,4%) case of mistakes on misformation; 175 (27,8%) case of errors on addition; 100 (15,9%) case of errors on misordering; and 37 (5,9%) case of errors on omission. It can be concluded that misformation in the most frequent errors, while failure is the rarest error in this research. Keywords: error analysis, constructing negative and interrogative sentence

The research aimed at analyzing the errors in using simple present tense at Logistics Management of Agro-Industry of Polytechnic ATI Padang. A qualitative method with descriptive approach was applied. The samples were 15% of 153 total students or 23 students. Data were collected through the writing test; namely, descriptive essay. The results show that many students commit errors in using the simple present tense. The errors are classified into four types: omission, addition, misinformation, and misordering. There are 107 errors with the highest number that is omission (61 errors or 57%). Misinformation is in second place with 29 errors (27,1%). The error of addition gains 11,2 % with 12 errors. The lowest error is misordering, which gains 4,7% with only five errors. In conclusion, the most dominant error made by the students is omission with 57% and misordering is the lowest one with 4,7%. Therefore, the lecturers are expected to improve the teaching strategies in teaching simple present tense to reduce the numbers of students’ errors.
