Abstract Drawing insight from a creative and reflective experimentation called Studium (2019–) run by the author and the artist François Deck, this text attempts to define a theoretical conception of “studying” that overcomes the narrow contexts of institutional education or professional research, determined mostly by rules set by the market or the state. Through the proposal of an expanded notion of study, it aims at reclaiming the collective situations of intellectual inquiry in front of a shared problem by which we all “become students.” To sketch the idea of “hyper-study,” the reflection needs to take into consideration several implications of this kind of gestures: (1) the subjective engagement that transforms one’s own form of life (transfiguration); (2) the open, situated, and precarious activity (immediation); and (3) the specific environmental conditions (ecological agency).

What happens when a text is read in different centuries, different countries? The fate of the Divine Comedy in the Soviet Union suggests one answer. Focusing on Osip Mandelstam's intense attachment to Dante and thinking generally about the consequences of a globalizing readership, this essay argues for literature as a peculiar form of “life,” a planetary life. Not biological like an organism and not territorial like a nation, this form of life extends across linguistic borders and across the borders of chronology. This form of life comprises a population of temporal hybrids: “translations” that disrupt the territorial sovereignty of the state, even as they disrupt its regime of simultaneity.

Ship autopilots are usually designed based on PID controller because of the simplicity and the ease of construct. However its performance in various environmental conditions is not as good as desired. This disadvantage can be decreased by designing a linear state space feedback controller. This paper presents the utility of the state-space feedback controller to stabilize the system and shaping its response as desired. The simulation results for a 4DOF ship with real parameters show the effectiveness of the feedback controller in comparison with ordinary PID ship autopilots.

This paper presents a decision-making scheme at the level of individual unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with the goal of maintaining safe operations for urban mobility. The decision-making approach for a single UAV will consider the risks associated with the current trajectory given the existing environmental conditions and the state of the vehicle. The proposed scheme combines the analysis of system performance, environmental conditions, and mission level parameters for contingency management, i.e., make a determination on: (1) to abort mission and land safely; (2) re-plan current mission in full or abbreviated form; and (3) change mission.  A path planning and trajectory optimization algorithm with the goal of minimizing the overall risk of mission failure by considering a number of factors such as the uncertainties in the environment and operating state of the vehicle is proposed. We will consider the mission failure as the loss of control of the vehicle resulting in a collision with other objects or a crash into the ground. An offline part of the framework generates an initial mission plan by considering the state of the vehicle, the environmental, conditions, and the static features of a map of the environment. Once the vehicle takes off, the risk of mission’ failure associated with the remaining trajectory is re-computed in an online framework to assess whether re-planning is required or not. A key challenge that we consider in this paper is to study the effects of multiple interacting subsystems of the UAV on system performance, especially under degraded conditions.

ABSTRACT Evaluation of the comfort and animal welfare parameters enables determining the best environmental conditions for livestock creation. The present study was aimed to determine the thermal comfort index for beef cattle using interpolation techniques for the State of Mato Grosso do Sul during extreme summer and winter seasons for a period of 10 years. The analysis was performed on the climatic variables data provided by the National Institute of Meteorology, Brazil. The maximum (THImax) and minimum (THImin) temperature and humidity indices (THIs) of 28 weather stations distributed across the state were calculated, and the thematic maps of the THIs (maximum and minimum) calculated for the summer and winter seasons were prepared. The results revealed a state of emergency in the two largest animal-producing cities in the state; namely, Corumbá and Ribas do Rio Pardo, while two other cities, Chapadão do Sul and Costa Rica emerged as favorable regions for the production of beef cattle. The Spline method used in the present study, therefore, proved to be a suitable tool for analyzing a small number of weather stations distributed over a large territorial area.

Abstract Subject and purpose of work: The study presents the effects of agricultural advisory services in the eastern part of Mazovia. The effect of advisory work was the number of services provided by advisers over a three-year-long period of their work. The state institution providing advisory services for farmers in this area is the Warsaw-based Mazovian Agricultural Advisory Centre (MAAC) with a Branch Office in Siedlce. The main objective of the conducted research was to assess the performance of agricultural advisers within six counties: Siedlce, Węgrów, Garwolin, Łosice, Sokołów and Mińsk, located in the eastern part of Mazovian (pol. Mazowieckie) Province. Materials and methods: The activity of the Siedlce Branch was analysed during the years 2012-2014. Particular attention was paid to the distribution and availability of services to farmers. This study was prepared on the basis of an analysis of available internal documents from MAAC and the literature on this field. Results: Based on the performed studies, it was found that agricultural advisory services play a very important role in the adaptation of farms to changing environmental conditions. Conclusions: Nowadays, in the era of globalisation and integration farmers face new challenges, which would be difficult to meet without an efficient agricultural advisory system.

Description of a new species of Diaptomidae (Crustacea, Copepoda, Calanoida) Notodiaptomus oliveirai is given from the material obtained at a reservoir at Barra Bonita, SP in 1992. The new species is very similar to Notodiaptomus henseni Dahl 1894 although both species can be found in the same locality, constituting two distinct populations. Notodiaptomus oliveirai seems to be endowed with great adaptability to changes in environmental conditions, extending its distribution to all the hydrographic basins in the state of São Paulo.

<p>The constitution is often equated with the Constitution as the basic law is written. However, the Constitution of having understanding wider. The Constitution does not only include a written rule that constitution, but the unwritten rule, the basic rules are raised and maintained in the practice of statecraft or called by convention. The Constitution is the constitutional system in the form of written and unwritten rules set out together to govern a country. Where the nature and function of the constitution is there limitation of government power so that the implementation of power is not arbitrary. Thus, the rights of citizens are expected to be protected. 1945 was passed by the state constitution PPKI as Indonesia on August 18, 1945. In practice, the 1945 Constitution of Indonesia has been transformed into constitutional RIS (December 27th 1945- August 17, 1950), later transformed into a Provisional Constitution of 1950 (August 17th 1950s July 5th, 1959), until it became 1945 again but with amendments in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002. An amendment to the 1945 Constitution because their demands strong 1945 changes of society. People feel that the charge 1945 times many are not appropriate.</p>

ABSTRACT No isolated factor influences soybean development and production more than the sowing date, but the responses of cultivars sown on different sowing dates depends on their sensitivity to environmental conditions. Thus, this study evaluated the adaptability and stability of 17 soybean genotypes in relation to yield, as well as to the grain oil and protein contents as a function of different sowing times. The experiment was designed in randomized blocks with three replications and a 17 × 5 factorial scheme. The genotypes were: Conquista, CD 223 AP, Elite, Garantia, Bioagro lineage, M-Soy 8400, M-soy 8001, Nambu, Sambaíba, Esplendor, UFVS 2006, UFVS 2005, UFVTN 102, UVF 18, UFV 16, Valiosa, Vencedora, and the five sowing dates were: SD1 = 11/3, SD2 = 11/20, SD3 = 12/07, SD4 = 12/23, and SD5 = 01/09. The M-Soy 8001, UFV 18 and Garantia genotypes showed high oil contents, with adaptation to all sowing dates and stability when sown on the most favorable dates. The Bioagro lineage, CD 223 AP, and Garantia genotypes were adapted and stable when sown on all sowing dates and had higher protein contents than the other genotypes, regardless of the sowing date. The Elite, Nambu, and Garantia genotypes were adapted and stable when sown on the most favorable sowing dates and presented high grain yields when sown in early December. The findings indicate that the Garantia genotype is the most suitable for the growing conditions of the central-north region of the state of São Paulo.

The presented empirical study assesses the state of the cardiovascular system of Moscow schoolchildren living in different environmental conditions. 233 practically healthy schoolchildren (109 boys and 124 girls aged 11.4 to 12.6 years) took part in the comprehensive study of HRV and the state of adaptive processes when living in different ecological conditions of the capital megapolis. On the basis of different ecological and social conditions the schoolchildren were divided into 4 compared groups. The comparative analysis of the obtained HRV data of schoolchildren of different groups showed differences in the adaptation processes and in the indices of the wave activity of the sympathetic and parasympathetic departments of the ANS.

This chapter argues that we cannot make progress in thinking about justice beyond the state unless we develop a realistic and critical view of the many and complex relations of domination within, between, and beyond states that mark our current global predicament. To supplement the argument, the chapter first introduces a conception of justice as non-domination. Next, the chapter explains the difference between the book's Kantian, discourse-theoretical conception of non-domination and Philip Pettit's neo-republican conception of non-domination. The book's conception of justice as non-domination is then applied to transnational contexts. To conclude, the chapter explains the difference between the book's view and Pettit's notion of international justice.
