This descriptive qualitative research essentially aimed to find out the types of code mixing on Brown Sugar Battle video. Titan Tyra published the video on June 17th, 2019. The researchers chose the utterances of Titan Tyra that contained code mixing as the data source of this research. In collecting the data, the researchers conducted observational method and non-participatory technique. Additionally, in analyzing the data, the researchers applied bilingual-differentiating identification method and differentiating comparative link technique. Furthermore, the researcher applied the theory of code mixing proposed by Muysken (2000). The result revealed that the speaker frequently inserted English words and phrases in the utterance of Indonesian language. The speaker mixed language to do the review of brown sugar drink. From 53 data, there were 31 data of insertion and 22 data of congruent lexicalization. The type of insertion became the most frequently uttered type. Also, the speaker did not utter English clause in utterances.

This study aims to describe the  forms of expressive speech act uttered by adults in TPI in Pesisir Selatan Regency, Sumatera Barat. This  is a descriptive qualitative research. The data are any  utterances which contain expressive speech acts of adult in TPI Pesisir Selatan.  The analysis is done by using speech acts theory proposed by Searle. Data source of this research is Adult in TPI. In this research, the researcher used observational method because the data are in the form of spoken language that obtained in a Adult in TPI. Thus this research used notetaking technique in collecting expressive speech act. The research findings show that there are ten kinds of expressive speech act in adults in TPI, namely apology, thanks, sympathy, attitudes, expressing greeting, wishing, expressing joy, expressing pain, expressing like, and expressing dislikes.

This study aims to explain the mixed code of language and the effectiveness of da'wah on social media. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative by describing the mix of language codes used by Ustaz Hanan Attaki and the effectiveness of da'wah on social media. The data source in this study is a transcript of Ustaz Hanan Attaki's lecture. Data collection is obtained by listening to video shows, recording data in the form of transcripts, classification by type, and data analysis. The results of the study show that (1) Ustaz Hanan Attaki classifies mixed language codes into two, namely inter-internal and external code mixing, and (2) Ustaz Hanan Attaki's preaching on social media is very effective from a sociolinguistic perspective.

Film “Yowis Ben 2” merupakan salah satu film komedi Indonesia yang memasukkan unsur bahasa daerah di dalam percakapannya. Hal tersebut menjadi nilai lebih untuk meninggikan bahasa daerah di lingkungan masyarakat. Penelitian ini berbentuk penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan pragmatik, yaitu analisis deiksis. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan bentuk-bentuk deiksis dalam film “Yowis Ben 2” karya Bayu Skak dan Fajar Nugros. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah percakapan yang terdapat di dalam film tersebut. Berdasarkan penelitian, film “Yowis Ben 2” memuat bahasa daerah yang merujuk pada suatu kegiatan yang sedang dibicarakan serta memiliki hubungan dengan dimensi ruang dan waktu pada saat dituturkan oleh pembicara atau yang diajak bicara. Deiksis berfungsi untuk memperjelas isi ujaran dalam film “Yowis Ben 2” karya Bayu Skak dan Fajar Nugros. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya ujaran deiksis persona, waktu, tempat, sosial, dan wacana. “Yowis Ben 2” is an Indonesian comedy movie that includes elements of local language in the conversation. This elements of local language becomes more value to elevate regional languages in the community environment. This research is in the form of a descriptive qualitative research with a pragmatic approach, namely deixis analysis. The purpose of this study is to describe deixis in the movie “Yowis Ben 2” by Fajar Nugros and Bayu Skak. The data source of this research is the conversations contained in the movie. Based on research, the “Yowis Ben 2” movie contains local languages that refer to an activity being discussed and has a relationship with the dimensions of space and time when spoken by the speaker or the person being spoken to. Deixis functions to clarify the contents in utterances that contain persona, time, place, discourse, and social.

The study was conducted in order to describe the forms and the functions of code-switching and code-mixing in drama performance of ALE of the students of ICP batch 2017. The study was descriptive qualitative research. The data are collected by observation and documentation in the drama performance in Art and Language Exhibition ‘Prahara Ing Argabelah’. The finding shows that 24 unit analysis of code-switching found 6 used tag-switching, 15 used inter-sentential switching, and 3 used intra-sentential switching. Furthermore, 27 unit analysis of code-mixing performed 21 intra-sentential code mixing, 5 intra-lexical code mixing, and 1 involving a change of pronunciation. Then, from 24 unit analysis of code-switching, the researcher found six functions in the drama conversation. There are 6 addressee specifications, 2 repetitions, 7 interjections, 1 message qualification, 2 personalization and objectivizations, and 6 facilities of expression. Moreover, the researcher just found 3 functions from 27 unit analysis of code-mixing. There are 1 repetition, 2 message qualifications, and 24 facilities of expression.

This research aims at finding the types of swearing expressions and linguistic forms of English swearing used in Richard Wright’s Black Boy. This is a descriptive qualitative research since it describes the phenomena of swearing used in the novel. The data of the research are all the conversations or sentences used swearing in the novel written by Richard Wright namely Black Boy as the main data source. The method of collecting data in this research is observation and teknik lanjut catat. After all the data had been collected then they are coded using the coding system such as data number/title of novel/chapter/page/data. There is no data reduction since all the data are analyzed in this research. This research used theory triangulation. Kind of swearing expressions found in this novel dealing with God and religion terms, name of  animals and plants, part of body, racial terms, stupidity terms, name of occupation, sexual terms, family terms. The linguistic forms of English swearing used in this novel are word, phrase, and clause. The swearing in the form of words consists of (1) noun referring to place, person, occupation, animal, and idea (2) verb and (3) adjective. Phrase consists of (1) noun phrase with swearing functioning as headword, modifier, and both headword and modifier, (2) adjective phrase with swearing functioning as modifier. Swearing expression is also found in the form of sentence.

The study of stylistics has grown wider in literatures and in linguistics. Stylistics provides linguistic features that support the interpretation of certain text so that the investigation becomes comprehensive. This research aims at finding stylistic features of the narrations of the prologue and epilogue of Mata Najwa talk show in an episode entitled Pejabat Pemburu Rente. Using ear-catching word arrangements, the prologue and epilogue successfully attract the audiences’ attention and, thus, the talk show becomes one of the most popular TV show in Indonesia. The stylistic features observed in this research are based on deviation and parallelism. This is a descriptive qualitative research. The data source is Mata Najwa show with the sub-title Pejabat Pemburu Rente, while the data are the prologue and the epilogue of the show. The analysis shows three features in the prologue as well as in the epilogue: figurative language, sound repetition and word repetition.

The purpose of this study is to find out the types of deixis and the most dominant deixis that appeared in the Avengers Infinity War Movie. This study applied descriptive qualitative research. For collecting data, the researcher used non-participatory technique and observational method. The data in this study applied the theory from Levinson. The utterances of the speaker is used as the data in this study. The researcher found 168 data of deixis. The data were analyzed into person, temporal, place, discourse, and social deixis. The result showed that there are 87 person deixis, 31 temporal deixis, 14 place deixis, 21 discourse deixis, and 15 social deixis. Based on 168 data, the most dominant types of deixis is person deixis because most of all the character in the movie used person deixis.  Keywords: Deixis, Linguistic, Pragmatic,

This research aims at finding out the kinds of addressing terms manuscript and the reasons of using addressing terms used in Tangled Movie Manuscript. The type of this research is a descriptive qualitative research which takes a document oriented as the method of collecting data. By this method, the researchers uses Tangled movie manuscript as the data source, and the data taken are the expressions which contain addressing terms. The rate of addressing terms use first name is the biggest. Theresult of the research shows that there are five kinds namely, addressing using name (fist name, full name, and last name), addressing using intimacy, (3) addressing using kinship, (4) addressing using respect, and (5) addressing using mockery. Thestudy find seven reasons of addressing terms used in Tangled movie manuscript were showing solidarity, intimacy, mockery, power, respectful, and anger.

The objectives of this research are to find the types and the most dominant type of translation procedures of English into Indonesian Subtitle in “English Vinglish” Movie. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The data of this study are the words, clauses, and sentences in the subtitle movie both English and Indonesian. Data source is taken from “English Vinglish” Movie. The data collection procedure in this research is document analysis. From the result, it shows that the translation procedures used in subtitle English Vinglish movie consist of direct translation and oblique translation. In direct translation, it consists of literal translation as 148 data or 34.89%, borrowing as 82 data or 20.39 %, and calque as 0 data or 0 %. While, in oblique translation consist of transposition as 76 data or 18.67 %, equivalence as 62 data or 15.23 %, modulation as 32 data or 7.86 %, and adaptation as 6 data or 1.47 %. The most dominant type of translation procedures of English into Indonesian Subtitle in “English Vinglish” Movie is in direct translation, especially in literal translation. The aims of this study are to describe and explain the form of code switching and code mixing, to identify the factors of code switching and code mix and to identify the purpose and function of code switching and code mixing in the Acehnese students in Yogyakarta. This is descriptive qualitative research by sociolinguistic approach. The method used in this research is observation method and record technique. The data of this research are the speechs of Acehnese students who are studying in Yogyakarta which contains of code switching and code mixing. Data were identified and classified and then analyzed by existing sociolinguistic theory.The results show that: first, the form of code transfer in Acehnese student communication in Yogyakarta includes the switch of code from Acehnese Language to Indonesian and the switch of code from Indonesian to Aceh; second, the form of mixed code in the form of insertion of words, phrases, and clauses; third, the factors of code switching and code mixing are speakers, participants, third speakers, speech mode and discussion topics; fourth, the purpose and function of code switching and code mixing in the Acehnese students are to familiarize the situation, to make a sense of humor, to look prestigious, to respect the other person and to tell the secret.Key words        : Code Switching, Code Mixing, Sociolinguistic
