This study aims to determine the potential of cultural tourism in the municipalities that comprise region 6 of the State of Jalisco, territorially delimited in the South of Jalisco. These municipalities are tested first to identify the demand for cultural tourism to determine the profile of the cultural tourist under the assumptions that tourists especially motivated by culture tend to travel longer distances than most tourists. It discusses the motivations and satisfactions of cultural tourists in order to establish the potential market in accordance with the characteristics of the target market in the southern region of Jalisco. Any operation of cultural tourism companies should make the strategic diagnosis, which explains the use of SWOT analysis as a tool for strategic planning of cultural tourism enterprises. Finally, we propose some development strategies of cultural tourism in this region of Southern Jalisco.

Purpose: the article aims at substantiating the applicability of project management methodology and tools to the tactical and strategic development of the tourism industry at both the global and national levels of economic development. The author sees the possibility of sustainable development of the tourism industry on the basis of a systems approach to improving the functioning of tourism enterprises using the tools and methods of project management. Taking into account the current contribution of tourism to the global economy and the national economies of many countries, the problem of sustainability of tourism enterprises and national tourism industries in general seems to be one of the foundations for solving the problems of sustainable development included in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Methods: the study was conducted on the basis of a systematic approach with the use of logical and comparative analysis of various types of project management methodology potentially applied to tourism projects both for solving operational tourism problems and for the strategic development of tourism industries, as well as the method of structural-functional modeling aimed at laying the foundation for the tourism project management methodology. Results: the problem of sustainability of the tourism industry – the leading sector of the national economies of many countries and the global economy as a whole – has been considered using a systematic approach. An attempt was made to prove the applicability of the project management methodology and tools to the tourism industry and the dependence of the sustainable development of the tourism industry, both at the local and national levels, on more effective management of processes, programs and portfolios based on a systems approach and project management as a method to improve tourism firms’ operations. The methodology of project management in tourism as a driving force for social, economic and cultural change is considered as the basis for successful implementation of projects to ensure benefits for all stakeholders: tour operators, consumers of tourism projects, local communities and all companies involved in tourism projects. Conclusions and Relevance: currently, the tourism industry faces a situation in which tourism projects are implemented in the context of reactive risk and change management with the almost complete absence of proactive change management, which adversely affects the quality of tourism projects and greatly hinders the development of national tourism industries in general. The proposed concept of applying the project methodology based on the author’s model of project management in tourism, the model of the tourism project and the model of TMBOK (tourism management body of knowledge) provides for a system of measures necessary for integrating the project management methodology into the practice of tour operators for the further sustainable development of all tourism business stakeholders.

Introduction. The globalization of the economy and the introduction of the concept of sustainable development largely determine the development strategy of both large and small businesses. Adherence to the principles of sustainable development is becoming a prerequisite for organizations to develop, increase competitiveness and attractiveness for stakeholders. The purpose of the study is to elaborate the stages of formation of strategic management of sustainable development of small business enterprises. Materials and Methods. An analysis of the financial, economic, environmental and social components of sustainability of JSC Leader-Compound was performed as a case study. The company's financial statements for 2012–2019 as well as the results of the survey conducted among the management staff were used as the materials for the study. The expert method was employed to determine the final assessment of compliance of JSC Leader-Compound with the features of strategic management of sustainable development of small and medium-sized enterprises. The employed method of strategic analysis (SWOT analysis) made it possible to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the company, as well as threats and opportunities. Results. The results of a comprehensive analysis of the components of sustainable development of JSC Leader-Compound made it possible to conduct a final assessment of the compliance of this enterprise with the features of strategic management of small and medium-sized businesses. A sufficiently high level of development of the strategic management of JSC Leader-Compound has been noted, and reserves for its improvement have been determined. An algorithm for the process of development and implementation of a strategy for sustainable development of the company has been proposed. Methodological recommendations have been substantiated for each stage of the process. To calculate the generalized integral indicator of the level of sustainable development, a mathematical model has been proposed that takes into account the components of sustainable development of the company. Discussion and Conclusion. The proposed process of development and implementation of a strategy for sustainable development of a small business will make it possible not only to form a strategy based on the components of sustainable development, but also to ensure the possibility of its successful implementation. The research results may contribute to both practical activities of other small businesses, and further scientific research of the features of managing the sustainable development of small enterprises in other lines of business.

In the rural economy land is the site of production. Our villagers live and work with close relationship with nature; they love and adore nature. Intensification of resource use and diversification of occupation (even if we call it as technological advancement) pose serious challenges to balanced economic development in India. Villagers are facing the growing needs of food, fodder and fuel on the one hand, and fast encroaching urbanisation on the other. Both have disastrous consequences on nature’s fragile fabric. Modern development in urban areas has resulted in stress and strain, and in the rural distress and drain of resources. Hence we need a though analysis of the strengths, weaknesses threats and opportunities for economic development now and in the future. This will create the much needed awareness for prioritisation of economic activities in the country to make the best use of relatively limited available natural resources. Keeping in mind the above factors the present study tries to draw the attention of academicians, policy makers, rural people and their urban brethren towards: (i) sustainable methods of environmental management, (ii) a holistic approach with multidisciplinary, multilocational and multiinstitutional involvement, and (iii) making the practice of SWOT analysis an inbuilt mechanism in resource management for sustainable development.
