ABSTRACTIn the last decades, Feminist Gender Studies have raised the invisibility of women as well as the later recognition of feminine specificity. The main european and american universities have considered disability process from the occidental culture, which is jointly affected. The observance of the women with disabilities circunstances is a relevant item, whereas women have been central subject in the Gender Studies analysis. This article describes the different gender theories contributions and recognizes a variety of publications and its relevance.

As of the year 2000, Harvard was stronger academically, financially, and in national and international reputation than ever before in its (and perhaps any university’s) history. The sources of this preeminence— Harvard’s iconic national and international standing; the quality of its students, faculty, libraries, laboratories, and plant; its access to the money that made it all possible—showed no signs of diminishing at the century’s turn: quite the contrary. Old rivals Yale, Chicago, Columbia, Berkeley were not, by common consent, what they once had been. New challenger Stanford was something else again, but could not yet claim equal superpower status. Harvard’s is an archetypal American success story. And a number of other American universities have had comparable trajectories since World War II. That has been the record of the past. The question for the future: will the great American research universities—and in particular, Harvard—thrive in the decades to come as they have in decades past? Harvard’s age, wealth, quality, and prestige may well shield it from any conceivable vicissitudes. But if history teaches anything, it is that every institution, however successful, carries within it the seeds of future trouble. Times, values, social demands change. A century ago, the leading German universities had a similarly dominant position in the world of higher education. That preeminence, to understate the matter, did not last. In 1986, a half century after its 1936 fete, Harvard had another special birthday to celebrate, its 350th. Sesquis are not centennials, and the 350th Celebration (that was its official name; the proper Latin title, “Tercentennial Quinquagesimal,” was a clear nonstarter) did not carry the symbolic heft of the 1936 Tercentary. Still, more than a third of a thousand years of institutional survival was nothing to sniff at. Nor was there a shortage of achievements to commemorate. The Harvard of 1936 had seemed rich and substantial at the time; who could have foreseen what it would be fifty years later?

In the past decade and a half, feminism and gender studies have undergone a process of critical self-scrutiny and re-assessment. Presently, the fields of theatre and performance studies are undertaking a similar project of self-evaluation, as evidenced by recent calls to assess the ‘state of the field’ as well as its future directions. Elaine Aston and Geraldine Harrison suggest in their recent co-edited volume, Feminist Futures? Theatre, Performance, Theory, that any attempt to envision the future must begin by examining the present, which in turn entails looking to, and reflecting on, the legacies and remains of the past. In her article for this issue of TRI, ‘A Critical Step to the Side: Performing the Loss of the Mother’, Aston does precisely this, asking, ‘in what ways it might be critically productive to come back to the maternal as a subject for feminism’.

Mistral’s icon has served as a portrait of the Chilean nation, reflecting a variety of images analyzed from literary theory, cultural and gender studies, and, as of late, queer theory. In recent years, we have been witnesses to the growing visibility of Gabriela Mistral as a sexual dissident as a result of the repatriation of Atkinson’s Legacy in 2007 and the consequent release of Mistral’s letters to Doris Dana, who was her partner during the last 12 years of her life. The present article is interested in the possibilities of reinterpreting and revising the life of Gabriela Mistral and her national iconography. The images of Gabriela Mistral that have served as State iconography are used to analyze visual and sexual politics over the last 60 years of Chilean culture. Considering these historic moments, I will analyze the meaning of queer in the afterlife of Gabriela Mistral, critically revising the use of this construct, not only in regards to her biography but as a national icon. Finally, I establish certain milestones in the scholarship concerned with the intersection of gender and nation, through visual representation of historic women who condense discursive repertoires related to women and State power.

A imagem construída cria associações mentais sistemáticas. ABSTRACT This article analyzes the striking features, common and fundamental, in Eurocentric audiovisual productions, hegemonic and dominant across world cinema landscapes, which incite, perpetrate and perpetuate the denial of female image and the formation of gender stereotypes that pervade diverse cultures and global societies. The analysis of the film Blue is the Warmest Color (France, 2013) is also used as a methodological tool. Statistics on women employed in audiovisual productions (TV and Film), as well as theories of cinema, (moving) photography, and critical feminist cinema theories are developed as tools for research. Image is a powerful tool of communication; it is similar to or confused with what it represents. Visually imitator (mimesis), or reflection, can lead to knowledge, to education, or serve as a means to deceit. Image systematically builds up mental associations. Repeated to exhaustion, images create patterns of representations within global societies.   KEYWORDS: Cinema, Gender Theories, Statistics, Postcolonial Studies. Palabras clave: Teoría feminista, masculinidades, relaciones de género, estudios de géneroAbstract: Feminist theories have been fundamental in givingshape to contemporary studies of men and masculinitiesas intellectual and academic projects as well as socialproblems. This paper analyzes the impact feminist theoryin its different currents has had on these studies, as wellas the presuppositions on which these theories are basedand their major gaps. Finally, a certain optimism aboutchanges in gender relations is questioned. One of themajor challenges feminism faces at present is to showthat women’s achievements in democratizing genderrelations cannot be taken for granted, and that theircontinuation depends on actions and reactions of forces that are at play in them. To tackle this subject, reference is made to a series of studies that show masculine resistances to social change and the struggles that males wage at present to maintain and consolidate theirdomination of women. Keywords: Feminist theory, masculinities, genderrelations, gender studies

This article looks back at 20 years of feminist/gender theory in Organization. In these years a very rich variety of articles has drawn on feminist and gender perspectives. This suggests that Organization is a welcome site for exploring feminist and gender theories and their contribution to critical analysis of organizations. However, the more theoretically sophisticated work that is to be found in feminist and gender studies has not yet been explored in much depth. There is unfilled potential here. The article looks forward to the next decade by discussing a small selection from the treasure house of feminist theorists and concerns that could offer rich insights for management and organization theory. There are many others; this discussion introduces theorists who will be new to some readers, and might provoke more general interest in feminist thought.
