This article explores in what ways political economy as an analytical framework for developmental studies has contributed to scholarships on Indonesian’s contemporary discourse of development. In doing so, it reviews important scholarly works on Indonesian political and economic development since the 1980s. The argument is that given sharp critiques directed at its conceptual and empirical utility for understanding changes taking place in modern Indonesian polity and society, the political economy approach continues to be a significant tool of research specifically in broader context of comparative politics applied to Indonesia and other countries in Southeast Asia. The focus of this exploration, however, has shifted from the formation of Indonesian bourgeoisie to the reconstitution of bourgeois oligarchy consisting of the alliance between the politico-bureaucratic elite and business families. With this in mind, the parallel relationship of capitalist establishment and the development of the state power in Indonesia is explainable.<br>

The ‘Peronist Left’ has become one of the chief actors in the often violent drama of Argentine politics today. It is the object of this article to place the events of the more recent past, at least since the return of Peronism to power in 1973, within the framework of the development of the ‘Peronist Left’ since the fall of Perón in 1955. Obviously the article makes no claim to be a comprehensive treatment of the subject. Such a treatment could only be part of a much more extensive study of the Argentine working class and the Peronist movement. In particular, the article concentrates on an analysis of the political ideology of the different currents that have made up the ‘Peronist Left’ since 1955, whilst recognizing that this ideology must ultimately be seen in the far wider context of the social and economic development of Argentine society. The first part will highlight the main features of this Left in the 1955–73 period and analyze the main currents within it. In the second part of the paper the events of the last two to three years will be looked at within this context.

The competitiveness of individual economies belongs to the issues frequently discussed among experts as it is closely connected with and reflects the economic situation in different countries. The focus of the present article is the survey of the development of competitiveness of selected economies and the subsequent comparison thereof. In order to further specify this focus, we concentrated on the economies of the Russian Federation and Germany. These economies are regarded as strong and efficient global economies that put emphasis on continuous growth. The economy of the Slovak Republic was selected as the secondary focus of the article as it is an open economy cooperating with major economic players, including the countries representing the subject of this article. The key criterion for the evaluation of the development was the Global Competitiveness Index and the monitored period was 2008-2017. The article contains two basic parts; the first part represents a theoretical framework of the discussed topic and the second part provides the comparison and confrontation of competitiveness in the selected economies. The final part of the article contains the identification of potential weaknesses and strengths of the evaluated economies.

The paper features the problems of strategic management of social and economic development at the regional and municipal levels. Currently, the legal and the regulatory framework that ensures the management of socio-economic development at the regional and municipal levels is quite dynamic and corresponds with the current conditions and challenges. The legal and regulatory framework in the field of strategic management is formed not only as an institutional basis for socio-economic development: it also represents a thoroughly developed system of methods and tools for developing strategic documents and ensuring their implementation. However, normative legal documents reflect, as a rule, a traditional view of the implementation of the strategic planning process, formed within the scientific schools of design and planning, with the inclusion of individual elements of advanced technologies of strategic management. Federal authorities have consistently formed the basis for the actual strengthening of the role of the methodology of strategic management in regional and municipal management. The consistent implementation of the program-target approach, the methodology of strategic planning, the principles of project management in the practice of state and municipal management forms the basis for applying the principles of agile public administration as the basis for strategic management in real-time. Independence, initiative, innovation, openness, agile, competence, and high motivation will increasingly determine success in the practice of state and municipal government. Hence, successful work on overcoming the resistance of the administrative bureaucratic management system will be a pledge of effective implementation and application of mechanisms and technologies of project management and agile public administration.

Crime is an activity which is against the law and the fact that the linkage between criminal activities and the socio-economic development of the society is undeniable. Moreover, the relationship between crime and evolution of mankind may also be considered a historical one as Cain (first son of Adam and Eve) committed first crime when he murdered his brother Able because of jealousy. Due to the complex nature of the subject of crime, for example, regarding its causes and consequences, various academic disciplines such as criminology, sociology, geography, psychology and demography study it from their own perspective. A relatively new emerging field, however, is the economics of crime which tries to identify the socio-economic causes and consequences of criminal activities in a society.
