ABSTRACT One of the important challenges of Islamic educational institutions today is the weak managerial quality of the institution. This article will discuss Total Quality Management (TQM) in educational institutions, how to improve the quality of educational institutions that are managed. TQM is a management approach that can be applied in Islamic education institutions to be more effective in managing their educational resources. TQM is also called integrated quality management because it departs from efforts to improve quality in an integrated manner, covering quality, energy, infrastructure, management, and graduates.

The task of the teacher to give instructions and guide students for more progressive in their knowledge, skills and self-constructivity to develop their potential. The teacher carries out his duties requiring technical skills that are supported by certain personality attitudes, and are guided by a code of ethics at the institution where he works, especially in Islamic education institutions. Technical skills, personality attitudes, obedience to religious values ​​should develop when teaching profession is supported, and the situation provides opportunities in a professional manner, and teacher can realize the vision and mission of teaching and simultaneously carry out the vision and targets of the educational institutions in which they work. Increased professionalism of teachers requires Total Quality Management (TQM) which aims to encourage management to work in total to improve quality, quality assurance and provide satisfaction to customers; parents, students themselves and other stakeholders. This paper will outline the role of TQM in increasing the professionalism of teachers in Islamic education institutions

The Past

Entering the past decade, the issue of quality has always been the talk of the actual, especially in the context of education management. Recognized or not, the quality of Islamic education institutions are still largely under the quality of education in general. Various attempts have been made and many of the concepts that have been applied, but everything seemed not bring significant improvement. "Total Quality Management (TQM) or Integrated Quality Management (MMT) as an effort to improve the quality of education in Islamic educational institutions. Although at first the concept of MMT is only known in the industry, but the amazing success invite the interest of education experts, 3 to study it more deeply, formulate operational patterns of adoption, and to create a model in teknical to apply. This research was conducted in SMP Muhammadiyah I Depok Sleman Yogyakarta. Consideration is SMP Muhammadiyah I Gurgaon is one of the Islamic educational institutions (schools distinctively Islamic) 5 formal mission has always been to apply concepts of Quality Management (TQM). This study resulted in that SMP Muhammadiyah I Depok already implementing Total Quality Management in the management of education. However, the application of Total Quality Management in SMP Muhammadiyah I Depok can be said is not fully maximized, in the sense that there are still some things that need to be evaluated together.

Improving the quality of education is a problem that is still experienced by many educational institutions. To improve the quality of education, institutions need a system to help achieve quality education quality. So this study aims to analyze the application of Total Quality Management in the school accreditation program as an effort to improve the quality of education. This research is a literature study by taking data from several books and literature. This data collection technique uses documentation techniques and data analysis techniques using critical analysis which is interesting from several research documents. The results of this study indicate that improving the quality of education is carried out by implementing Total Quality Management. Total Quality Management is carried out by continuous improvement, determining quality standards, changing culture, changing organizations, maintaining relationships with customers and focusing on customer satisfaction. and have a commitment to change.

The implementation of total quality management is applied to every educational institution as an effort to improve the quality of education. In this case, it is important to carry out management functions in each educational institution. Total Quality Management is a system used to continuously improve the quality of services or products offered to customers. There are so many benefits obtained by educational institutions if implementing this Total Quality Management, including being able to provide better services to customers, can meet general accountability standards in education reform and can improve and encourage a pleasant learning environment and encourage students and teachers to learn. The TQM concept is a management system that is used as a business strategy oriented to customer satisfaction by involving customers and all members of the organization. In the implementation and implementation of TQM to reduce existing barriers, it is necessary to have a high commitment from top management, expansion of insights, information, knowledge and skills regarding the implementation of TQM, and also invites all employees to be more open and more active in carrying out their duties. And also there needs to be a relationship between the organization and the surrounding community to find out what is needed and desired by the surrounding community so that it can be fulfilled as desired. Abstract:This study aims to explain the transformational leadership of Dayah in empowering the Dayah community, which is focused on empowering the quality of teungku, santri, and administrative personnel for the development of Total Quality Management (QTM). The research method used was library research with a transformational leadership approach to educational institutions. Data sources consisted of books, journals, and other literacy sources related to Dayah educational institutions and transformational leadership. Data analysis used was content analysis by determining, describing, and interpreting the data. The result indicated that to empower teungku quality, Dayah leaders carry out the management, guidance and development of all teungku in the intellectual, spiritual, emotional and social dimensions. To empower the quality of students, Dayah leaders organize all activities related to the students, from input to output, with a series of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor activities. Empowerment of administrative personnel, Dayah leaders take steps to develop self-potential, fostering and increasing performance productivity, including scientific, loyal, skilled, and evaluating their performance to be measured.Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan kepemimpinan transformasional Dayah dalam pemberdayaan masyarakat Dayah yang difokuskan pada pemberdayaan mutu teungku, santri, dan tenaga administrasi untuk pengembangan Total Quality Management (QTM). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kepustakaan dengan pendekatan kepemimpinan transformasional pada lembaga pendidikan. Sumber data terdiri dari buku, jurnal, dan sumber literasi lainnya yang terkait dengan lembaga pendidikan Dayah dan kepemimpinan transformasional. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah content analysis dengan menentukan, mendeskripsikan, dan menginterpretasikan data. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam memberdayakan mutu teungku, pimpinan Dayah melakukan pengelolaan, pembinaan, dan pengembangan terhadap seluruh teungku dalam dimensi intelektual, spiritual, emosional, dan social. Untuk memberdayakan mutu santri, pimpinan Dayah melakukan penataan segala aktivitas yang berkaitan dengan santri mulai dari input sampai dengan out put dengan serangkaian aktivitas cognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik. Untuk memberdayakan tenaga administrasi, pimpinan Dayah melakukan langkah-langkah dengan usaha pengembangan potensi diri, pembinaan dan peningkatkan produktivitas kinerja yang meliputi keilmuan, loyal, terampil, dan mengevaluasi kinerjanya agar dapat terukur.

Quality management is an approach to management which requires establishing quality policies, procedures and practices on regular basis. Engineering education is a process of developing techno human resources, which are to be used later as input to industry which in turn produces goods and services for the societal use. Having considered the current situation of the engineering educational system and the quality of all its individual components it can be noticed that the awareness of the importance of education as a foundation for the growth and development of the country, such as India, is not strong enough. Engineering graduates passing out from educational institutions have to fulfill modern and high standard requirements that are needed by industry. Therefore, there is a greater need to instill quality in engineering education to produce technically skilled and creative man-power in India. The continuous assessment of quality is of paramount importance for educational institution. Education efficiency and success does not depend just on quantity but as well on quality. This paper has discussed key points for the improvement in the quality of engineering education with a case study undertaken at various engineering colleges in India. The study was conducted in two phase; first phase is the critical investigation of the literature and the second phase is a study on the quality of engineering education provided by the educational institutions in Visakhapatnam city. A simple random sampling technique was adopted for the study. A research study described in this paper identifies and analyses the quality of engineering education at the educational institutions which adopt the total quality management system to increase the quality and meet the industrial requirements and then suggests some ingredients to improve the quality.

TQM should be applied to every Islamic education unit in order to encourage the quality of excellent service to stakeholders. Because, in today's sharp world of global competition, many people talk about "quality" especially related to jobs that produce products or services.  A result is made because there are those who need it, and those needs develop along with the quality demands of the users. Recognizing this task, SMPN 1 Dlanggu, which has achieved many achievements in various fields both academically and non-academically, continues to improve services for students by completing various learning facilities, qualified human resources (teachers and employees), and coordinating/collaborating with related institutions. In its implementation, TQM has an influence. Among them, student achievement is increasing. Not only in academics, but also non-academics, the enthusiasm of the community to send their children to SMPN 1 Dlanggu is increasing. There is a good relationship / cooperation between all residents of Dlanggu Middle School 1, both internally and externally to jointly improve school quality

Improving the quality of the madrasah in the direction of improvement is a necessity amid tight competition among educational institutions in producing output quality. In this context, the imple- mentation of total quality management (TQM) is one of the alternatives as a form in an attempt to increase the quality of the madrasah. There are at least three important steps in the implementation of TQM at the school, namely: 1) the environment of human resources and madrasah, 2) the environment surrounding communities, and 3) the state of the natural environment or atmosphere madrasah.
