Modern forms of management in the transport market, such as dry ports, require new approaches to ensure their cooperation with sea ports, which will eventually affect the inter-port competition of the latter ones. The researched problem was resulted in clear understanding of these relations and influence factors.

Purpose – The paper is aimed to obtain a clear understanding of influence factors that can increase the possibility to be business angels (BA). Design/methodology/approach – This study develops the 3A model in the Chinese context to design questionnaire, and 334 questionnaires are obtained via focus group sample and targeted snowball approach, and the multinomial logit analysis is used to test a serious of hypotheses. Findings – The paper confirmed that the entrepreneurial experience and wealth are determinants of investment for potential BA, and the wealth have both directly and indirectly positive influence on investment activity through risk preference, namely that richer people prefer risk which impel them to invest as BA. Research limitations/implications – There are two limitations in the paper: first, the macro environment in China has not been taken into consideration in the model; second, the source of the sample focuses on the developed cities in the middle and eastern of China, only reflect the characteristic of angels in these areas, which may somewhat diverges from the reality. Practical implications – The paper would contribute to form the policy which could promote the development of angel investment in China. Originality/value – This paper conducts a preliminary exploration of the factors that have impact on Chinese BA' investment activity based on current research.

In the article the existing approaches to the definition of the competitiveness concept are analyzed. The authors conception of competitiveness with regard to characteristics of sea ports is offered. Provided graphical representation concerning the definition of enterprises competitiveness of the port sector. In addition to the objective economic categories, such as price, salary, income and profits, the main elements of the organizational and economic management mechanism, in the current conditions, should also be added the level of competitiveness. It should be noted that the principles of the organizational and economic management mechanism formation had better be based on the systematic and situational approach. And the competitive advantages of the ports, formed on the basis of their production profile and the system of interconnected signs of competitiveness, must determine the need to select and implement a market strategy aimed at achieving these competitive advantages. In the presence of a competitive market and a developed competitive environment, the ability of significant number of enterprises in the ports sphere to survive will be determined by their competitiveness, which is realized in the process of enterprises in the market during the competition. The authors concluded that the main outcome of the competitive functioning arrangements of modern port should be the following: ensuring stable long-term market position, practically permanent profit growth and ensure capitalization. As a main result can be selected as one of the criteria, and all together, depending on the state of the port and the stage of its life cycle.

The system of indicators that impact the process of forming of competitive advantages in hotel economy as one of the types of housing sector is suggested based on the system analysis. Close relationship between the competitiveness level of hotel economy in Ukraineand influence factors roughly divided into two groups (external and internal) is mathematically proven. The methodics of development of prognosis level of hotel economy competitiveness in Ukraineis formed based on respective values of stimulating and deterrent indicators. The hypothesis that income of population impacts the competitive advantages of hotel economy is suggested. The model of hotel economy competitive advantages for Ukrainewas developed based on correlation and regression analysis. It allows for determining of the level of hotel industry competitiveness and efficiency of development of new directions to improve the country’s touristic attractiveness and for detecting the factors (economic, infrastructural, etc.) that most closely correlate with the real competitiveness level of hotel business in the region.

Purpose: the article aims at using additional functionalities of the digital economy and modern information systems to develop new analytical tools for monitoring economic security and identifying company risks. Methods: the article uses traditional methods of scientific analysis, economic and mathematical statistics. Moreover, the author proposes the new approaches, which develop a methodology for diagnosing economic security factors at the region level and micro level using additional functional capabilities of digital economy and modern information systems. Results: based on the analysis of existing methods for assessing economic security at the micro level, urgent methodological problems of assessing the economic security have identified. New approaches have developed for diagnosing the economic security of a company. They base on the use of search capabilities and functionality of modern information systems. The paper presents the author's methodology for assessing possible strategic advantages due to integration processes and cooperation, and it has tested on the example of the Tver region. Conclusions and Relevance: new methods for diagnosing the qualitative characteristics of the development potential and risks of a company consider as a management tool that provides the administration of an economic entity with the opportunity to conduct diagnostics in the system: potential-risk and identify competitive advantages and the most significant risks and threats to development. Such a presentation of opportunities and threats helps to substantiate a set of targeted management decisions aimed at using competitive advantages and eliminating or neutralizing threats and risks. In this case, modern information technologies make it possible to provide an information-empirical basis for research, achieve the set goals and solve the problem of the results reliability.

General contracting has gradually become the mainstream mode of project production organizations and the breakthrough point for the transformation of construction industry in China with the deepening of project management and project implementation reform. A general contractor needs to have a clear understanding of the structure and internal mechanism of its capability to achieve sustainable development. This study aimed to explore the critical influencing factors of general contractor capability and interrelationships between these factors in the context of transformation of Chinese construction industry. Fourteen critical factors influencing the general contractor’s capability were identified through literature review and questionnaire survey. Then, the interrelationships between factors were revealed through interpretive structural modeling (ISM). The factors were divided into four groups using the Matrice d’Impacts croises-multipication applique a classement (MICMAC) in accordance with driving power and dependence power. The results indicate that particular attention should be paid to enterprise culture at present. A strategy to improve the capability of general contractor was proposed. The results contribute to the construction of the theoretical system of general contractor capability. These research findings can thus act as a practical reference for future research attempting to provide technological and managerial solutions for promoting the development of general contracting.

Nowadays, China dominates logistics volumes, and its container logistics is associated with the largest sea ports, such as Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Ningbo. However, China’s coastal line is long and contains numerous million-container-handling sea ports. Current leading sea ports are located mostly in the south or at the middle point of the coastal line. Volumes are rather concentrated in these few areas. Despite the fact that China’s vast population is well-spread throughout the coastal line, major cities are also located in the hinterlands. Apart from some regions (e.g., the Pearl and the Yangtze River Delta) where there are many cities that are very close to each other, distances between cities are rather long in general. Therefore, this research examines the CO2 emission reduction potential of using a larger number of sea ports (such as distribution hubs), as well as the interaction of these with analytically chosen dry ports. Results of the hypothetical country level container transportation model, using linear integer programming concerning 51 cities (largest hinterland and container sea port cities), showed that better and more equal use of sea ports serving the major cities will result in considerable emission reductions. This is the case, even if hinterland transport is completely based on road transports. However, in a situation where the dry port structure with railways is further applied, the results showed that it should be concentrated on a few hinterland points first, but also assure that most remote, million-people city locations get priority for the railway.

Abstract In challenging the assumption of autistic social uninterest, Jaswal & Akhtar have opened the door to scrutinizing similar unexamined assumptions embedded in other literatures, such as those on children's typically developing behaviors regarding others’ minds and morals. Extending skeptical analysis to other areas may reveal new approaches for evaluating competing claims regarding social interest in autistic individuals.
