The present study aims to investigate the mediating role of spirituality in the relationship between couples’ marital satisfaction and life satisfaction. The study was conducted following the relational design, one of the quantitative research methods. The study group included 586 married individuals residing in Istanbul, Turkey, of whom 525 were female and 61 were male. Three scales, the Married Life Scale the Life Satisfaction Scale, and the “Spiritual Orientation Scale, were used together with a demographic information form to collect data for the study. Moreover, descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression analyzes were conducted over the course of the study. The analysis findings demonstrated that marital satisfaction predicted life satisfaction and spirituality, that spirituality predicted life satisfaction, and that spirituality played a partial mediating role in the relation between marital satisfaction and life satisfaction. In other words, it was determined that marital satisfaction had both a direct and, via spirituality, a indirect impact on life satisfaction. The findings are discussed in light of the literature.

The purpose of this research is to test the proposed structural model related to the mediating role of sensitivity and sacrifice on the relationship of marital satisfaction and life satisfaction with married individuals’ spiritual orientations. The research has been performed with a total of 454 married individuals living in Turkey, of which 280 (61.7%) are females and 174 (38.3%) are males. The Relationship Happiness Questionnaire, Satisfaction with Life Scale, Spiritual Orientation Scale, Sensitivity Scale, and Satisfaction with Sacrifice Scale have been used as the data collection tools. The programs SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 20.0 have been used in the data analyses. The structural model proposed in the research has been tested using the structural equation model. The fit-index values from the tested model have been determined to show good fit and the values to be statistically significant. As a result, the structural model established for testing the mediating roles of sensitivity and sacrifice on the relationship of marital satisfaction and life satisfaction with spiritual orientation has been verified; and sacrifice and sensitivity are seen to have a partial mediating role in the model.

This study investigated the association between dysfunctional relationship beliefs and marital relationships of Turkish nonclinical married individuals. The Interpersonal Cognitive Distortions Scale (Hamamci & Büyüközturk, 2004), Dyadic Adjustment Scale (Spanier, 1976), and Marriage Life Scale (Tezer, 1986), which measure marital satisfaction, were administered to the sample of 190 married females and males. Analysis revealed that married individuals with low dyadic adjustment endorsed significantly more dysfunctional relationship beliefs than did those with high dyadic adjustment. It was found that dysfunctional relationship beliefs, including especially beliefs concerning being very close to others in their relationships causing negative consequences, have negative and moderate level correlation with the marital adjustment of males, and negative and very low level correlations were found between marital satisfaction and dysfunctional relationships beliefs. But mindreading beliefs were positively associated with the marital satisfaction of females. Although there were no significant age or gender differences in dysfunctional relationship beliefs, significant differences were observed in dysfunctional relationship beliefs in terms of the education level of married individuals.

Healthy development can be viewed as an important dimension of the general wellbeing index and can be based upon lifelong sustainable satisfaction. Young individuals can represent an important component for society and its development. The literature shows that increased levels of global life satisfaction (LS) can be associated with minimal levels of problematic behaviors and elevated levels of pro-social behaviors. However, low levels of LS can be associated with high levels of perceived loneliness (PL), which, in turn, can be associated with antisocial behavior (AS). In light of this, the current investigation aims to study the mediating effect of PL and the link between LS and AS. This study is a preliminary investigation referring to aggressive behaviors and cognition in relation to subjective wellbeing. The sample consisted of 81 young individuals (M = 27.57, Standard Deviation = 9.25) from Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad, Romania. AS was evaluated with the How I Think Questionnaire (HIT), PL was measured with a single item inquiry and LS was evaluated with the satisfaction with life scale (SWLS). The results display that there is a powerful association between LS and AS, between LS and PL and between PL and AS. After the inclusion of the mediator (PL) to the model, the influence of the independent variable (LS) increased and the effect of LS on AS significantly decreased. In light of this, the relationship between LS and AS can be explained by the mediating role of the PL variable. The results indicate the importance of perceived loneliness in regard to one’s life satisfaction and antisocial behaviors. In light of this, interventions that focus on the social aspect could prove useful for the improvement of sustainable life satisfaction, therefore decreasing the chance of the emergence of AS.

We examined the mediating role of Chinese adolescents' core self-evaluations in the relationship between mindfulness and their life satisfaction. The participants (N = 436) completed the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale, the Core Self-Evaluations Scale, and the Satisfaction with Life Scale. The results suggested that greater life satisfaction was associated with higher levels of mindfulness and more positive core self-evaluations, and core selfevaluations were positively correlated with life satisfaction. The results of mediation analysis suggested that core self-evaluations partially mediated the relationship between mindfulness and life satisfaction of Chinese adolescents, implying that a higher level of mindfulness was correlated with more positive core self-evaluations, which were finally associated with greater life satisfaction. Together these results imply that enhancing the levels of mindfulness and encouraging positive core self-evaluations of adolescents will exert a significantly positive effect in promoting their well-being.

In recent times, religiosity and spirituality have received much attention towards mental health, but very few investigations worked on their role on life satisfaction within the gender perspective. The present study, however, investigates the relationships between religiosity, spirituality, and life satisfaction among individuals residing in Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Pakistan, with special reference to gender. For this purpose, a sample of 150 adults (71 men and 79 women) were selected by convenient sampling technique and was evaluated using validated versions of three scales: Religious Orientation Scale (ROS), Spirituality Scale (SS), and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SLS). Results indicate that religiosity and spirituality have a significant positive correlation with life satisfaction. Results of linear regression showed that religiosity and spirituality significantly predict life satisfaction. Women reported more religious orientation and spirituality as compared to men in the sample studied. The study is useful for both men and women, highlighting the importance of one's orientation towards religion.

In this context, the reflections of gender roles on marriage and also the effects of marriage, which is one of most important decisions of individuals, on quality of life were explored. For this purpose, the relationships between these three concepts were discussed. This research was a study of the relational model. The universe of this study included married individuals living in the province of Bayburt and Erzurum, and 639 individuals were participated to the research which was voluntary basis. The data were collected by using the “Marital Life Scale”, “Gender Roles Attitudes Scale” and “Life Satisfaction Scale”. These analyses were made on the data obtained from the study; t-test for independent groups, regression and correlation. According to study a positive and significant relationship was found between the marital quality, gender roles and the life satisfaction. There was found a significant differentiation; between the quality of the marriage and having children or family intervention; between the attitudes towards gender roles and gender, spouse’s employment status or having children; between the life satisfaction and gender or spouse’s employment status. La relación entre calidad marital, actitudes hacia los roles de género y satisfacción de vida entre personas casadas Resumen: La sociedad impone diferentes roles sociales a las mujeres y hombres en el seno familiar respecto a su género.
