ABTRACTThe development of the 21st century skills requires educators to prepare students for global economic competition by having special skills, one of which is problem solving. Achievement of the 21st skills century is done by improving the teaching profession, one of which is through lesson study for learning community. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is an influence on the application of the auditory intellectually repetition (AIR) learning model through lesson study for learning community on the problem solving abilities of students. This study uses a quasi experimental design method through the randomized posttest-only control group design using matched subjects. The study was conducted at Semarang 11 Public High School in the 2018/2019 school year. Based on the research, the results of statistical tests on the problem solving ability variable have a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05 so that it can be concluded that there are significant differences in students' problem solving abilities between the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class scored better than the control class, with the acquisition of the experimental class number of 76.96 and the control class of 65.94. Based on these results it can be concluded that the application of auditory intellectually repetition (AIR) learning models through lesson study for learning community can improve students' problem solving abilitiesKeywords: Auditory Intellectually Repetition (AIR) Learning Model, Lesson Study for Learning Community, Problem Solving

Based on study and analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the design methods of AD (AD, Axiomatic Design), QFD (QFD, Quality Function Development), TRIZ (TRIZ, Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) and Taguchi Method, the article established the integrated design model of the four. Taking the design of a compressor cutting machine as example, the article analyzed how to design the machine under the guidance of the integrated design method based on AD-QFD-TRIZ and Taguchi Method according to the actual needs of users. Thus, the article provides a useful reference for the design of related products to designers.

The design method on bicycle’s functional elements proposed by this research is based on analysis on the winning work in the Global Bicycle Design Competition. Via analyzing its creative design on functional elements, our study is aimed to establish a creative design method on bicycle for designers to develop lots of creative ideas at the concept development stage. This research is divided into three stages, including analysis on bicycle’s creative design elements, construction of creative design method flow on bicycle’s functional elements, and case study on design prototype. For analysis on bicycle’s creative design elements, we have come up with a symbol table of bicycle’s creative functional elements (CFEs). As to construction of creative design method flow on bicycle’s functional elements, we first asked the designer to describe his/her design theme, and then picked bicycle’s CFEs according to the contents described. After CFEs were picked, we then conducted the space position arrangement of functional element symbols. Based on designer’s requirements, we produced several kinds of space arrangements on CFEs, and then we designed a new bicycle by referring to the symbol table of bicycle’s CFEs acquired. In the final step, we followed the flowchart of bicycle’s CFEs constructed by this research, and proceeded a case study prototype design.

Based on Medan City Government 2012, slum areas in Medan City are currently estimated to reach 22.5% of the total area of ​​Medan City, which consists of 88,166 housing units or 13.62% of the total houses in Medan City. Moreover, this has an impact on public health. Responding to this problem, the need to design a residence by rebuilding a residential area would be better by not abandoning the customs and culture of the people in the area. The project location is in Medan, Kampung Kelurahan Kesawan. The design method that is carried out is the choice of design location and approach to problem-solving design or design stages. It expects that the results of the design can provide suitable space and occupancy for the community, such as the construction of high-rise villages and community areas.

Functional fixedness refers to a cognitive bias that prevents people from using objects in new ways, and more abstractly, perceiving problems in new ways. Supporting people in overcoming functional fixedness could improve creative problem solving and capacities for creative design. A study was conducted to detect whether a relationship exists between participants’ tendency to reorient objects presented as stimuli in an Alternative Uses Test and their creativity, also measured using the Wallach Kogan pattern meanings test. The Alternative Uses Test measures creativity as a function of identifying alternative uses for traditional objects. The Wallach Kogan pattern-meanings test detects the ability to see an abstract pattern as different possible objects or scenes. Also studied is whether Kruglanski’s Need for Closure scale, a psychological measure, can predict the ability to incorporate reorientation cues when identifying uses. This study revealed highly significant, high correlations between reorientation and several creativity measures, and a correlation between reorientation and the predictability subscale of the Need for Closure scale. A qualitative exploration of participants’ responses reveals further metrics that may be relevant to assessing creativity in the Alternative Uses Test.

Objectives The ability to solve problems is to gain knowledge and motivation in the problem solving process of students. The researcher used the IMPROVE and OSBORN learning models to improve problem solving skills. The IMPROVE and OSBORN learning models emphasize the development of optimal mathematical skills and generate new ideas in the process of problem solving. This research is used to see the impact of the IMPROVE learning model and OSBORN learning model which is better in mathematical problem solving abilities. This research uses the Quasy Experimental Design method. Hypothesis testing uses an independent sample test. The conclusion of the study is the mathematical problem solving ability of students who use the IMPROVE learning model is better than the mathematical problem solving abilities of students who use the OSBORN learning model.
