Due to an ongoing epidemic, the number of hospitalized bedridden patients has increased. It is imperative to closely monitor the hospital room and maintain and clean it regularly to avoid harm to the patients. The accommodations may not be within the standards for a bed-bound patient’s room. The patient has a risk of contracting a respiratory disease, or having an asthmatic attack, if exposed to high levels of PM1, PM2.5, or PM10 dust that cannot be seen with bare eyes so the risk factor is not easy to notice. The goal of this study was to develop a dust monitoring system for hospital bedrooms using IoT, so that the caregivers can monitor air quality in the room. By applying the Internet of Things (IoTs) technology to communicate between sensors and mobile phones, the internet serves as the medium for communication. The demonstration system in the room was equipped with 5 sensor cluster, each measuring: temperature, humidity and dust sensors for PM1, PM2.5, and PM10. Decision trees were trained to predict the outcome of cases after collecting data. The final decision tree model reached an overall classification accuracy of 92.8%. The system could alert for housekeeping or turn on or off an automatic dust remover based on the amount of dust in the room. It also supports cleaning and dust removal to ensure that the bed patient’s room is appropriate and reduces the risk of respiratory diseases caused by dust.

The emergence of the internet of things in the smart homes has given rise to many services to meet the user's expectations. It is possible to control the temperature, the brightness, the sound system, and even the security of the house via a smartphone, at the request of the inhabitant or by scheduling it. This growing number of “things” must deal with material constraints such as home network infrastructure, but also applicative due to the number of proposed services. The heterogeneity of users' preferences often creates conflicts between them like turn on and off light or using a heater and an air conditioner in the same time. To manage these conflicts, the authors proposed a solution based on linked open data (LOD). The LOD allows defining the relation between the different services and things in the house and a better exploitation of the attributes of the inhabitant's profile and services. It consists to find inconsistency relation between the equipment using the antonym thesaurus.

The internet of Things (IOT) is always giving unprecedented answers for the customary issues looked by man.One of the real obstacles in city is we are spending huge expenses on street light.  To control the street lights based on detection of sunlight by implemented with smart embedded system. The paper is mainly utilized for smart and climate adaptive lighting in street lights. The street lights are automatically ON during the evening time and automatically OFF during day time. The street light can be accessed to turn ON or OFF at anyplace and anytime through web.In addition to that On top of the street light we are placing camera to track the activities performed on the street and where the recordings are stored in a server. Furthermore a panic button is placed on the pole, If there is any emergency situations like harassment, robbery there is a panic button is available at the reachable height any person can press it if he is in danger. If people are unable to press the panic button, they should use voice recognition which is connected to panic button, when it recognises some commands like help, it automatically press the panic button. Whenever the panic button is pressed, the footages at that time recorded by the camera is sent straightforwardly to the cloud account. The near specific police headquarters can have access of the account by which they can see the incident’s spot. Every region's street lights are associated with the specific area's police headquarters and cloud account can be accessible by each of them. Here GSMTechnology is eliminated completely.Safety and energy consumptions can be ensured by this idea.

NFC devices are used in contactless payment systems, similar to those used in credit cards electronic ticket smartcards and allow mobile payment to replace and supplement these systems. Specifically, combining NFC enabled devices or NFC mobile phones with RFID tags offers additional benefits when compared to traditional RFID solutions. When an application requires that a device have frequent interaction with tags at numerous process points, the high expense of using traditional handheld RFID readers is cost prohibitive. By replacing handheld readers with NFC-enabled phones at data collection points, the ROI for the application increases. HID Trusted Tag® Services is an example of an application that combines HID Global's patented Near Field Communication (NFC) trusted tag technology and cloud-based authentication platform to add unique and trusted identities to everyday objects that can be read by NFC-enabled mobile devices. This is ideal for establishing proof of presence, digital out of home (DOOH) and electronic visitor verification (EVV) and also serves as a real-world application of the Internet of Things (IoT) that has been discussed in Chapter 1. Some of the examples of NFC based mobile devices is discussed in the chapter.
