The 2017 Puebla, Mexico, earthquake event led to significant damage in many buildings in Mexico City. In the months following the earthquake, civil engineering students conducted detailed building assessments throughout the city. They collected building damage information and structural characteristics for 340 buildings in the Mexico City urban area, with an emphasis on the Roma and Condesa neighborhoods where they assessed 237 buildings. These neighborhoods are of particular interest due to the availability of seismic records captured by nearby recording stations, and preexisting information from when the neighborhoods were affected by the 1985 Michoacán earthquake. This article presents a case study on developing a damage prediction model using machine learning. It details a framework suitable for working with future post-earthquake observation data. Four algorithms able to perform classification tasks were trialed. Random forest, the best performing algorithm, achieves more than 65% prediction accuracy. The study of the feature importance for the random forest shows that the building location, seismic demand, and building height are the parameters that influence the model output the most.

<p>Citizen science can be used to collect vast and timely data, while promoting active learning on selected topics. The Bavarian Citizen Science Portal for Climate Research and Science Communication (BAYSICS) is a scientific project which started in 2018 with 10 partner institutions in Bavaria. It aims to achieve (1) citizens’ participation in climate change research through innovative digital forms, (2) transfer of knowledge on the complexity of climate change and its local consequences, and (3) joint scientific and environmental education goals. </p><p>Within the BAYSICS project, a web portal has been developed that builds the interface between researchers and citizens. In the initial phase, the interests from the different research disciplines participating in the project were identified. Currently, the IT structure for the web portal is developed based on the needs of the project. Free tools such as PostgreSQL, Django, Gunicorn and Nginx are used. The researchers involved have the opportunity to integrate research topic specific questions and data collection guidelines for citizens. </p><p>On the web portal, users are able to choose a topic from four different areas (phenology, pollen, tree, and animals) and submit their observations in multiple data types (pictures, geolocations, and texts). The observation data is visualized on a map of the web portal. The data collected within the project is freely available for download on the web portal, while protecting user’s privacy. Application Programming Interface (API) is developed to enable interaction with other software products and services.</p><p>A first test phase within the project members start at the beginning of 2020. Afterwards, a second test phase is planned involving potential users (e.g. school students and teachers). The outcomes from the test phases will be used for evaluation.</p>

Abstract. Socially shared regulation of learning (SSRL) has been recognized as a new and growing field in the framework of self-regulated learning theory in the past decade. In the present review, we examine the empirical evidence to support such a phenomenon. A total of 17 articles addressing SSRL were identified, 13 of which presented empirical evidence. Through a narrative review it could be concluded that there is enough data to maintain the existence of SSRL in comparison to other social regulation (e.g., co-regulation). It was found that most of the SSRL research has focused on characterizing phenomena through the use of mixed methods through qualitative data, mostly video-recorded observation data. Also, SSRL seems to contribute to students’ performance. Finally, the article discusses the need for the field to move forward, exploring the best conditions to promote SSRL, clarifying whether SSRL is always the optimal form of collaboration, and identifying more aspects of groups’ characteristics.

he purpose of this study was to improve science learning outcomes on the structure and function of plant networks in class VIII students of MTsN 2 Aceh Besar in the 2017/2018 academic year. The learning model used in this study is the Mind Mapping Learning Model. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII MTsN 2 Aceh Besar with a total of 33 students consisting of 13 male students and 20 fe-male students. This research was conducted in the 2017/2018 Academic Year within a period of 3 months, namely from August 2017 to October 2017 in Odd Semester. The research methodology is Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of two cycles and each cycle consisting of two meetings. Each cycle consists of planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The research procedure con-sisted of pre-research, planning cycle one, implementing action cycle one, observing cycle one, reflect-ing cycle one, planning cycle two, implementing action cycle two, observing cycle two and reflecting cycle two. The data collection technique is to collect test scores that are carried out at the end of each lesson in each cycle using a question instrument (written test). Observation data was carried out by look-ing at the activeness of teachers and students during the learning process. The learning outcome data were analyzed by means of percentage statistics, while the observation data were analyzed by means of a Likert scale. The results showed that there was an increase in the completeness of student learning outcomes from 39.39% in the pre-cycle increased to 60.60% in Cycle I and increased to 87.87% in Cy-cle II. Observation of teacher activity during PBM has increased from a total score of 88 good categories in Cycle I, increasing to a total score of 93 good categories in Cycle II. The application of the Mind Mapping learning model can improve science learning outcomes on the structure and function of plant tissue for class VIII students of MTsN 2 Aceh Besar for the 2017/2018 academic year.

he purpose of this study was to increase the activities and results of Indonesian language learning in the exposition text material of class X IS 3 SMAN 4 Banda Aceh. The learning model used in this study is the CTL learning model. The subjects of this study were students of class X IS 3 SMAN 4 Banda Aceh. The number of students is 35 students with 16 male students and 19 female students. This research was conducted in the 2019/2020 school year for a period of 3 months, from August 2019 to October 2019 in the odd semester. The research methodology is Classroom Action Research (PTK) consisting of two cy-cles and each cycle consisting of two meetings. Each cycle consists of planning, implementing, observ-ing and reflecting. The data collection technique is to collect test scores that are carried out at the end of each lesson in each cycle using a question instrument (written test). Observation data was carried out by looking at the activeness of students in the learning process. Data were analyzed by means of percentage statistics. The results showed that there was an increase in student learning activities in both cycles, from good enough to good categories and to very good categories. Completeness of student learning outcomes has increased from 48.57% in the pre cycle increased to 68.57% in cycle I and increased to 88.57% in cycle II. The use of the CTL learning model can increase the activities and results of Indone-sian language learning in the exposition text material of class X IS 3 SMAN 4 Banda Aceh Academic Year 2019/2020

Various difficulties in learning English which have been an obstacle for almost all students, this should be avaluable lesson to spark new ideas in group learning implementation programs. To overcome the problem of thelow level of English learning outcomes of class VII students of Bangkinang State 2 Junior High School inKampar Regency, group learning is one good alternative. The study is a classroom action research conducted inBangkinang Kota 2 Public Middle School, Kampar district. The subjects of this study were seventh gradestudents. The results of the study obtained data on teacher activity in the first cycle of the first meeting with apercentage of 57%, the second meeting with a percentage of 66.5%, in the second cycle at the third meeting thepercentage was 83.5%, and at the fourth meeting percentage obtained 90.5%. The observation data of studentsin the first cycle of the 1st meeting was 51%, the second meeting was 62.5%, in the second cycle the thirdmeeting was 80%, and the fourth meeting was 88%. Data on the improvement of learning outcomes in the initialdata obtained an average of 63, in daily I repetition of 75, and in the second daily test of 88.

Reading learning in the low grade class 1, which is often done in the early stages of learning which is calledpreliminary reading, has been done in various ways so that students read smoothly, but the numbers of studentswho cannot read in grade 1 are high. Therefore, researchers conducted research to improve reading skills ingrade 1 elementary school students by using the SAS learning method. . The research class study is improvementstudying process to solve problem that can be happen by a teacher in the class. Data on gain after research toteacher activity in cycle I meeting 1 with percentage 58%, meeting 2 with percentage 70,5%, in cycle II meeting3 percentage in the amount of 84%, and meeting 4 percentage obtained 97%. The student observation data inthis research obtained percentage in cycle I meeting 1 in the amount 51,5%, meeting 2 in the amount 66,5%, inthe cycle II meeting 3 in the amount 89%, and inthe meeting 4 obtained percentage in the amount 94% this isprove if the student activity is rise experience. Data increase learning outcomes in the class I SDN 021 SitorajoKari kecamatan Kuantan Tengah in the data early obtained average 60,5, in the daily test 1 obtained average inthe amount 74, and in the daily test 2 obtained average in the amount 83 this prove using the method of SAS theefective reading study used in class I.
