A Conceptual Model for the Measurement of E-Government 2.0 Adoption by Developing Countries

The current work explores the use of social computing as a tool to improve the interactions between the government and other parties. Social computing, which is known as Web 2.0, is applied in the public sector through the concept of e-Government 2.0. This chapter proposes a conceptual model that will measure e-Government 2.0 adoption by combining known information technology theories. The conceptual model is based on a combination of the Technology Acceptance Model, Theory of Planned Behavior and indexes from the United Nation's database. Future research should validate the empirical model. Meanwhile, the implications of the model are presented.

This chapter explores the potential of Web 2.0 utilization in developing countries through the concept of e-government. Successful implementation of the Web 2.0 concept has to combine both technological and human factors. Thus, this chapter proposes a conceptual model that will measure e-government 2.0 readiness. The conceptual model is based on a combination of the Technology Acceptance Model, Theory of Planned Behavior, and indexes from the United Nation’s database. South Sudan is used at the end as a brief case study of the potential of e-Government 2.0. Future research should validate the empirical model. Meanwhile, the implications of the model are presented.

An integrative model explaining intentions to use an information technology is proposed. The primary objective is to obtain a clearer picture of how intentions are formed, and draws on previous research such as the Technology Acceptance Model (Davis, Bagozzi and Warshaw, 1989) and the Decomposed Theory of Planned Behavior (Taylor and Todd, 1995a). The conceptual model was tested using questionnaire responses from 189 subjects, measured at two time periods approximately two months apart. The results generally supported the hypothesized relationships, and revealed strong influences of both personal innovativeness and computer self-efficacy.

The use of information technology is spreading in the construction field. However, the use of information technology in the construction field does not conform to the requirements and characteristics of users who use information technology. This fact is blindly accepted by the government and client demands, which is an impediment to the dissemination of information technology in the construction field. To improve the use of information technology in the construction field, this study analyzes the factors of acceptance of information technology according to the characteristics of users who use information technology in the construction field based on Davis’ technology acceptance model. As a result of the analysis, we found that if users consider IT in the construction industry easy to use, spontaneous attitude and behavioral intention are to be expected. Moreover, acceptance type, educational satisfaction, usage enjoyment, and usage experience are the factors that impact perceived usefulness, and educational satisfaction and usage enjoyment impact perceived ease of use as well. This study aims to derive factors that maximize the approachability and usefulness of users through the use of a technology acceptance model in construction prior to the application of new information technology in the construction field.

<p>Information system is being implemented to improve job performance and facilitate employees’ work. However, implementing Information system has some negative impacts on employees and organization if employees do not accept it. Several previous studies investigated some consequences of information technology such as turnover intention and job satisfaction. This study provides a conceptual framework that shows other independent consequences of information system implementation. The model presented the impact of attitude towards using information technology on three components of organizational commitment (formative, normative and continuance). It also addresses the impact of attitude towards using information technology on turnover intention directly and via organizational commitment. Based on technology acceptance and its consequences, we develop a number of testable propositions that can guide to further research on work related outcome due to technology acceptance. Finally, we provide some recommendations for future research.</p>

Acceptance of technology according to theory can be influenced by several aspects, such as: behavior, satisfaction, benefits, convenience, social as well as security and privacy. <p>The main aim of this paper is to develop an amalgamated conceptual model of technology acceptance that explains how individual, social, cultural and organizational factors affect the students’ acceptance and usage behaviour of the Web-based learning systems. More specifically, the proposed model extends the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to include four constructs namely, Quality of work life; Social Norm; Facilitating Conditions and self-efficacy. In addition, Individual differences—namely, age, gender, and experience—are hypothesized to moderate the effects of these constructs on behavioral intention and technology use. A comprehensive understanding of this model will provide valuable insights into the factors that influence the acceptance or resistance of web-based learning system by intended users and offers opportunities for future research in understanding the acceptance of technology. Further, understanding these variables is helpful for instructors to design meaningful educational activities to promote student knowledge construction and make learning more effective and appealing.</p>

E-government projects success mainly depends on citizens' acceptance and usage; thus, numerous studies have strived to recognize the various factors that affect the adoption of e-government services in different countries. The study broadly reviews various models presented for assessing citizen adoption of e-government. The article highlights factors that affect e-government adoption in different developed and developing countries then proposes a suitable theoretical model for examining citizen adoption of e-government in developing countries. The developed research model included factors from the technology acceptance model, technology acceptance model 2, theory of reasoned action, unified theory of acceptance, and use of technology and diffusion of innovation as well as trust in the government and technology regarding e-government applications in Algeria a developing country. Data was collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire from 884 Algerian citizens.

Nowadays, the use of information technology becomes a new business model in which consumers are more open to demand their needs and take over the decision of the ideal product. However, farmers as the producers of agriculture commodities seem to be reluctant to using information technology in selling their products. The study aims to examine the effect of the perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use of information technology towards the attitude of using information technology in pepper farmers’ marketing practices through the technology acceptance model. The study used face-to-face data collection and a structured questionnaire to obtain the primary data from 100 pepper farmers in Bangka Tengah and Bangka Selatan. The finding of the study shows that perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use affect significantly the attitude of using information technology among the pepper farmers in marketing practices. The results will be useful for the government and NGO to provide tools on how to disseminate the technology to potential users.

As customer satisfaction and loyalty are often low in online group-buy, the conceptual model is constructed to explore the factors influencing online group-buy consumers’ loyalty based on theories of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), including the perceived risk, customer satisfaction, and customer loyalty. And 13 hypotheses are made according to the conceptual model. The research results can be the reference for the improvement of customer loyalty for online group-buy. In the future research, the empirical study will be used to verify the proposed hypothesis and reveal the impact of each variable in the conceptual model.
