IkeWYSe

The first product of the project presented here was a prototype of video games, named IKeWYSE, which constituted the data collection tool for the experimental research project. The videogame prototype realized requires the user to navigate in a three-dimensional space through an avatar. User deals with three different tasks, two of which are designed to measure the skills of perspective taking, while the third task is calibrated on the ability of mental rotation. The default point of view is a semi-subjective view with the camera following the avatar. The player has the option to select other views, going through semi-subjective, subjective and objective point of view. The game was tested between January and March 2015, with a group of 70 children, 35 males and 35 females, from the third, fourth and fifth primary school class and from a first secondary school class of the Istituto Comprensivo San Valentino Torio, in the province of Salerno. Each user performs 10 attempts for each task. The software records the beginning of each game, the user data (age and gender), and, during the game, time for each attempt and the result (success / failure) of the attempt. The present chapter presents the research design, the path for design and development of the videogame, the methods for data collection and discusses the results obtained.

Colorectal cancer has became burden in the world.The latest study shows that colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in men and second most common cancer in women globally. There are difference characteristic of epidemiology in every countries. Moreover, there is no study that represents epidemiology of colorectal cancer in Indonesia yet, especially in East Java. The aim of this study was to describe colorectal tumor profile by age and gender in Gastroentero-Hepatology Center, Dr Soetomo Hospital. This study has received a certificate of Ethical Clearance No.273/Panke.KKE/IV/2015, a descriptive retrospective study. We collected data using medical records, and patients who have been colonoscopy examination and suspected colorectal tumor were included. There were 201 patients, divided to 100 males and 101 females. The peak of incidence was on 51-60 years old group, but on the 31-40 years old incidence of colorectal tumor was increased. The youngest patient was 17 years old. And tumors are more likely develop in distal area, especially in rectum. This study shows a different characteristic profile of colorectal tumor, where tumor is developed at young people and there is no significant difference between male and female for the incidence.

Three-dimensional wireless sensor networks (3D WSNs) play an important role to provide data collection services for Internet of things (IoT) in the real applications. However, many of the existing WSN data collection researches are based on a relatively simple linear or plane network model. The three-dimensional space problems are simplified to two-dimensional plane, which limits the applicability. In this paper, the data collection in 3D WSN is studied. In the three-dimensional space, we firstly analyze the data loads, energy consumption, and end-to-end (E2E) delay of each node when the network is following the shortest path routing. The mathematical analysis of data loads and E2E delay of each node are presented. Based on the analysis of data loads and energy consumption, an energy-ware data transmission scheme is proposed to achieve the trade-off optimization between the E2E delay and network lifetime under the guarantee of the transmission reliability. The key point of the proposed scheme is to make fully use of the unbalanced energy consumption of the 3D WSN. The performance of the proposed scheme is discussed, analyzed, and evaluated. The theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the E2E network delay and energy efficiency can be improved under the constraint of transmission reliability.

This paper shows how regular convex 4-polytopes – the analogues of the Platonic solids in four dimensions – can be constructed from three-dimensional considerations concerning the Platonic solids alone.Viathe Cartan–Dieudonné theorem, the reflective symmetries of the Platonic solids generate rotations. In a Clifford algebra framework, the space of spinors generating such three-dimensional rotations has a natural four-dimensional Euclidean structure. The spinors arising from the Platonic solids can thus in turn be interpreted as vertices in four-dimensional space, giving a simple construction of the four-dimensional polytopes 16-cell, 24-cell, theF4root system and the 600-cell. In particular, these polytopes have `mysterious' symmetries, that are almost trivial when seen from the three-dimensional spinorial point of view. In fact, all these induced polytopes are also known to be root systems and thus generate rank-4 Coxeter groups, which can be shown to be a general property of the spinor construction. These considerations thus also apply to other root systems such as A_{1}\oplus I_{2}(n) which induces I_{2}(n)\oplus I_{2}(n), explaining the existence of the grand antiprism and the snub 24-cell, as well as their symmetries. These results are discussed in the wider mathematical context of Arnold's trinities and the McKay correspondence. These results are thus a novel link between the geometries of three and four dimensions, with interesting potential applications on both sides of the correspondence, to real three-dimensional systems with polyhedral symmetries such as (quasi)crystals and viruses, as well as four-dimensional geometries arising for instance in Grand Unified Theories and string and M-theory.

Greek Neoplatonist commentators on Aristotle practiced philosophy and science in the third through seventh centuries ce by performing innovative exegesis of Aristotle’s works. To investigate nature is, for the commentators, to read with understanding Aristotle’s treatises in a set curriculum, with a commentary and teacher. Therefore, a mature philosopher would often prove to be a capable commentator, or interpreter, who could foster the reading of the primary texts with charity and objectivity, eliciting the author’s meaning through paraphrase, lemmatized discussion, and a critically evaluated doxography of the puzzles presented by the text. On the Neoplatonist account, the system expounded in Aristotle’s treatises is uniform and consistent, and is harmonious with the philosophy expounded in Plato’s dialogues. This chapter surveys concepts in the commentators including nature (phusis), biological reproduction, the five or four elements, dynamics and Philoponus’ impetus, natural place and three-dimensional space, modes of causation, teleology, time, cosmogony, and cosmology.

Abstract A typical approach to a linear vibration analysis of an elastically supported single rigid body is to rearrange a dynamic model into a corresponding eigenvalue problem. From the geometrical point of view, the eigenvectors in the planar vibration analysis can be interpreted as pure rotations about the vibration center or pure translations. In a three dimensional space, they represent repetitive twisting motions about the axes of vibrations. By taking a geometrical approach to the vibration analysis, the vibration mode shapes may be better understood. In this paper, the influence of variable location of a mass center on the locations of the axes of vibrations and the natural frequencies are investigated by means of the locus of the axis of vibration expressed in analytical form, which represents the geometrical locus of the eigenvector. A numerical example is used to clearly illustrate the vibration phenomena of an optical pick-up used in an information storage device.

A brief journey into the history of industrial revolutions has been presented. It is noted that our society has entered the third industrial revolution’s era. In this regard, the main consequences of the third industrial revolution have been noted. The stages of development for design methods and the basic science providing the design process have been considered. The historical necessity and significance of Gaspar Monge’s descriptive geometry appearance has been considered as well. Modern products design approaches using CAD systems are described. It is stated that design has again returned to three-dimensional space, in fact prior to the Monge’s era, but at a new stage of development. The conclusion is drawn that, taking into account the realities and needs of modern production, it is necessary to modernize the descriptive geometry course for technical high educational institutions. The author's suggestions on course content changing are presented related to extension of one sections and reducing of another ones, taking into account the fact that in real design practice the designer solves geometric problems in three-dimensional space, rather than in a complex drawing. It is noted that in connection with the extensive use of CAD systems, the design stages and the composition of design documentation developed at each stage are changed. Such concepts as "electronic model" and "electronic document" have appeared and are widely used, that is confirmed by adoption of new USDD standards. In such a case the role and significance of some types of drawings may change in the near future, since modern CAD systems allow transfer to production not 2D drawings, but electronic models and product drawings.
