In just eight years, La Vêture has grown from a startup founded by three young French entrepreneurs to become the dominant player in retail e-commerce services for French apparel brands. But now with a staff over 100 people, and three floors of open space in the city center, the company is facing a number of challenges. La Vêture is grappling with questions such as whether or not the founder's original business model and vision are well aligned with current market conditions, and whether or not the informal, entrepreneurial management style and company culture have hidden costs which are preventing the company from further developing. Employees sometimes find themselves caught in impossible dilemmas. The e-commerce manager and the newly hired human resources manager are trying to chart a way forward.

Kata kunci: pemaknaan, ruang terbuka publik, taman nostalgia Title: The Meaning of Public Space of Kupang City Nostalgia Park Kupang City Nostalgia Park became one of the characteristics of the city where the park is located in the city center and became the only representative representative park in the city of Kupang. Beirut’s city center, Sahat al-Borj, has been the receptacle to many historical events, which shaped its current identity, such as repeated wars and other violent events such as tsunamis and earthquakes. These events affected the Square’s identity and the national identity and culture of Lebanon, and led to the creation and evolution of Sahat al-Borj from a cosmopolitan city center in the 1950s and 1960s, to a demarcation line between East (Christians) and West (Muslims) during the Lebanese civil war (1975-1990) to an abandoned city center since 1990. Like Derrida’s khōra, the sites of Beirut and Sahat al-Borj both have interior qualities and are receptacles of repeated wars and violent events. In Lebanese, both the city and the city Square are referred to with a feminine pronoun: hiyeh or “she” in Lebanese and elle in French. In Arabic and Lebanese, the nouns Sahat (a square, is an open space; open to a diversity of activities) and Mdineh (city) are feminine, giving both feminine connotations. This gendered pronoun accruing to cultural practices humanizes the Square and personalizes its identity and its occupation by referring to the city and its center as “she” or “her.” In Anglophone societies, city squares are usually referred to as “it” in English and do not have feminine or masculine genders or “character” attributed to them, unlike French, Arabic, or Lebanese. Through a series of historical cartographic maps and images collected from different library archives in France and Lebanon, this article will explore the human occupation of the Square throughout history and will examine the urban site of Beirut as a container of events and a transitional “non-place” with feminine and interior qualities with a specific reference to Derrida’s khōra. Although there are many interpretations of Khōra, like Derrida’s Khōra, in this article, the interior is explored as a receptacle associated with the feminine, the container, which receives human’s occupation.1

In order to study the relationship between human physical activity and the design of the built environment, it is important to measure the location of human movement accurately. In this study, we compared an inexpensive GPS receiver (Holux RCV-3000) and a frequently used Garmin Forerunner 35 smart watch, with a device that has been validated and recommended for physical activity research (Qstarz BT-Q1000XT). These instruments were placed on six geodetic points, which represented a range of different environments (e.g., residential, open space, park). The coordinates recorded by each device were compared with the known coordinates of the geodetic points. There were no differences in accuracy among the three devices when averaged across the six sites. However, the Garmin was more accurate in the city center and the Holux was more accurate in the park and housing estate areas compared to the other devices. We consider the location accuracy of the Holux and the Garmin to be comparable to that of the Qstarz. Therefore, we consider these devices to be suitable instruments for locating physical activity. Researchers must also consider other differences among these devices (such as battery life) when determining if they are suitable for their research studies.

Gajahmada Street is one of the main streets in the city of Semarang. The location is very strategic, which connects the Golden Triangle Region in Semarang City which is the center of the city. As a city center, transportation activities in the area are very high. Transportation activities produce carbon dioxide emissions. The accumulation of carbon dioxide emissions is dangerous for health and the environment. Semarang City Government provides green open space along the road section to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The purpose of this study was to determine the vegetation resilience to absorbing carbon dioxide at that location. The data collection method uses literature collection and field observations. The results showed the ability of green open space to absorb carbon dioxide emissions is 1.218,7 tons/ha/year. While the emissions produced are 6.832 tons/year, meaning that there is residual carbon dioxide that is not absorbed, that is 5.613,3 tons/year.

Currently, the population growth is growing very rapidly resulting in rapid growth of the needs of settlements. The population growth that is not proportional to the availability of land and the income level of the lower middle class  resulted in the emergence of illegal settlements and slums and are on land that is inconsistent with the city spatial plan for example on the edge of the river. This condition causes the decreasing quality of life of the people, especially in urban areas, destroying the environment and the spatial arrangement of the city. Medan city is one of the cities that there are many slums. One of the slums in the city of Medan is Kampung Badur located in Hamdan Village Medan Maimun District. The condition of the slums and the low economic level and the location of Kampung Badur located in the city center became the main problem in this area. Therefore, a solution is needed to solve problems in the area by making Kampung Badur an area that provides decent occupancy for occupancy and facilities that could be enjoyed together. The solution to this problem is to re-arrange Kampung Badur and develop potentials in the area. For example, Kampung Badur area which is right on the edge of the river becomes a potential in the design. So that the solution that can be applied is to develop Kampung Badur into Mix-Use Waterfront with a mix-use concept such as residential, public facilities and public open space to be enjoyed by residents Kampung Badur itself and by the people of Medan City.
