This chapter deals with young people’s digital media appropriation in an education perspective throughout Europe and Quebec. The comparative study, Mediappro, shows that 12 to 18-year-olds develop numerous and shared uses in fundamental domains such as ethics or social issues of IT, but their appropriation remains incomplete, mostly in information and creative activities. The study also highlights such a significant gap between home and school appropriation in all the countries that for the adolescents Internet activities in school are not part of “their Internet.” The benefits of this research study lay on a more precise knowledge of adolescents’ attitudes and skills and therefore the possibility to elaborate recommendations towards the main participants in education issues, parents as well as school systems.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is predicted to be one of the major megatrends in technology that applies worldwide including in Malaysia. Current advantages and expectations of using a connected device has become a reason to use applications in many areas, including the field of retail industry. The evolvement of technology has changed the retail landscape that replaces the manpower in their operations to improve the efficiency, quality and work ethics. Hence, this paper discussed comparative study of technology innovation applied and process flow in unmanned store from different country. Next, prototype of unmanned store apps was designed according to the most preferred technology based on the comparative study. IoT retailer model can be used to improve the retail experience for the customers. Thus, it may perform strategic marketing and gain retail intelligence. Besides, the revolution of using technology in this retail industry is contributing towards Industry 4.0 through digital transformation.

Internet is a versatile tool used by the students that draws attention of many researchers. But little research has been found regarding the comparative study of internet usage among university students. For this reason, the study surveyed the internet usage among university students coming from Business Studies, Science & Arts disciplines at University of Dhaka, Bangladesh and the overall perceptions towards the internet usage. So we developed a survey questionnaire and collected data on students’ demographics, internet usage behavior and purposes of internet use. Therefore, we distributed 50 questionnaires to each discipline and a total of 150 questionnaires were returned and all were usable. Then we analyzed the obtained data using SPSS. The results show that the percentage of internet usage among the students coming from Business Studies, Science and Arts disciplines is 100%, 92% and 90% respectively. The study recommends that the students coming from Science and Arts background should enhance the internet usage. And the students from all backgrounds should enhance the frequency of internet access per day and invest more on internet usage. The study also recommends that the universities should provide adequate internet facilities and enabling environment for student. This study provides a theoretical and empirical basis for further studies on internet usage of university students.

The increase in the use of information technologies encompasses all educational and social issues, even changing intergenerational skills. It is considered that the most conditioned to this effect are adolescents and young people. This research is a literary review of various studies on addiction and Internet abuse and presents relevant results of the situation of college students and their level of Internet use. The study was developed in seven educational units of Ecuador, with a sample of n = 773 students (53.6% men and 46.4% women). An instrument with sufficient validation guarantees (α.94) has been applied, verified by means of a factorial analysis of main components, which determined two study factors in the use of the Internet and loss of control and interference with life. Through a statistical treatment (Pearson) a good correlation was established (,62) between the two study dimensions, which is a concern in the educational field.

This research study aims at finding out the expressions of politeness in the Pashto Language. The data were collected from the respondents of the Pashto Language through a questionnaire of the open role-play situations of requesting and apologizing. The questionnaire was adopted from Reiter`s Study (2000), and it was also translated into the Pashto language. House and Kasper`s (1989) Analytical framework and coding scheme were applied for the analysis of the data of both the languages. The results show that politeness exists both in the Pashto language and British English, but the respondents of British English have shown more consideration towards negative politeness than the respondents of the Pashto Language. The British respondents have also shown a need to spare the hearer`s (addressee`s) face. Even, in British English, a need to respect the addressee`s negative face was also shown, corresponding to his/her distance, degree of individuation and other considerations.

Undoubtedly, the associative (as well as the lexical) meaning of words changes under the influence of social, economic, and technological factors. In this article, we will try to trace the changes in the associative meaning of words related to the sphere of trade relations under the influence of the increasing tendency of transition of trade relations to the Internet, especially due to COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The results of the associative experiment we conducted this autumn are compared with the older data and conclusions about the features of the associative meaning of the same words made in 2019. The previously analyzed concepts were chosen as the stimuli for the 2020 experiment (kupit’ (buy), magazin (store), oplata(payment), prodazha (sale), otzyvy (reviews), dostavka (delivery), sajt (website), akcija(promotion), besplatno (free)). As material for the comparative study, we used the data of the direct and reverse associative dictionaries and results of our previous experiment in 2016.The results of the experiment reflect the changes in the associative meaning of words. Thus, a negative attitude towards the concepts ‘buy’, ‘promotion’ and ‘free’ is increasing; the associative meaning of the concepts ‘buy’ and ‘promotion’ is changing; the number of reactions associated with the implementation of trade operations on the Internet is sharply increasing, and, finally, the reactions to the stimulus dostavka (delivery) are now characterized by a greater detail.

We present here the preliminary results of the active measurements of Internet traffic. The main goal is the measurement of the effectiveness of hierarchical cache developed last years in a number of countries using Squid software. The passive measurements could not give any conclusive answer. The procedure of the active measurements was developed for that reason. First, we use active measurements (experiments) of Internet traffic sending the http-requests from the log files. This give possibility to perform the comparative measurements which is usually more accurate. Next, more sophisticated procedure using triangle of cache servers, one working as the only manager for the two others, which could be setup differently and, typically, serve only odd and even queries respectively was proposed. This procedure, probably, is the most precise experimental setup for the comparative study of server strategies could be done on the basis of standard hardware and software.

It also tries to familiarize the readers with Khawaja Nasir al-Din Tusi’s view point as the Iranian and Islamic representative of the behavioral reflections. The similarities and differences existed among the mentioned philosophers were identified. This was a descriptive and analytical research study. The study investigated the philosophers’ opinions with regards to human beings, morals and democracy and their effect on the education and training. The results of the study showed that there are differences between John Dewey and Khawaja Nasir al-Din Tusi’s view point about human beings, morals and democracy. Abstract This article outlines a research design for a qualitative comparative study of communication across platforms, media and contexts – in China, the US and Denmark. After addressing the limitations in previous research on digital media in everyday life, we argue in favour of a comparative ethnography of communication that emphasizes the study of intermediality by taking a people-centred approach. The methodological design combines network sampling and maximum variation sampling with communication diaries and elicitation interviews. This design makes it possible to collect small and deep communicative trace data, to capture individuals’ unique linking of all the communication tools and channels available to them and, in turn, to identify the role of the internet as it interacts and intersects with other forms of communication.
