Information technology (IT) has permeated many fields and aspects of modern society such as education, business, health and entertainment. It provides users with innovative and powerful products which were unimagined decades ago. The Internet is one of the most powerful IT developments. The introduction of the Internet has brought in new areas such as e-commerce, e-health and e-learning. Thus the instrumental role of IT is unquestionable in this digital age. However, from a Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) perspective, IT is socially situated and its role and impacts cannot be divorced from its socio-cultural context. CDA is an interdisciplinary approach which studies linguistic and social issues in relation to social discourse with a main aim to examine how social power permeates and controls discourses and consequently creates social inequality and injustice. As IT is closely linked to its social discourse, its use and value are embedded in social structures and processes which are organized through institutions and practices such as political systems, business, education and the media, each of which is located in and structured by a particular discussive field. There are different social groups with competing discourses and they can exert power to use IT to their advantage. The challenge to IT experts, educators and IT users is not about the instrumental power that IT has brought to them. The real challenge is how to use it wisely to enhance humanity.

The advancement of information technology has changed the education landscape. The process of teaching is no longer the same. Information technology has made e-learning possible and available on a large scale. The main component of an e-learning is a learning management system (LMS). LMS has been widely used and are accessible through the Internet. By connected and accessed to the Internet, LMS are exposed to various threats. Proper understanding of these threats combined with strategy and best practices countermeasures will ensure a safe learning environment. Therefore this study will look into the information security aspect of LMS. There are two main purpose of this study. First, this study provides a review of information security in e-learning environments and explains the important of information security. Confidentiality, integrity and availability are considered to be the primary pillars of information security. In addition to these pillars, the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium introduced a common body of knowledge (CBK) comprised of ten domains relating to specific information security topics. These domains are the foundation of security practices for those involved in information security. In this article, each of these is explained within an e-learning context. It is recommended that institutions employing e-learning adhere to these domains. By applying the principles and practices associated with each domain, e-learning institutions should be able to provide an e-learning system with high confidentiality, integrity and availability. The second purpose of this study is to understand student perception of an information security perspective of an e-learning management system. To achieve this purpose, a survey was conducted targeted at undergraduate students in a distance learning program. 497 students responded to a survey questionnaires. Apart from demographics information, the survey asked the respondent to rate six statements related to how they perceived security of the learning management system which they are currently using. All six statements are rated using a five point Likert scale anchored at 1 (Not at all) to 5 (Very much). Frequencies analysis was conducted to show the profile of the respondent. Overall, respondent has strong positive perceptions towards security of their LMS. This study provides an overall picture of information security elements of a learning management system. It can serve as an introduction which help LMS administrator to understand the issues and possibilities related to the safety of LMS.

Information technology is developing very fast and is increasingly strengthened by the existence of the internet that has spread throughout the world. With the internet, the flow of information is increasingly spinning to the public and information technology applications have begun to emerge. These applications make it easy for people who use them, including e-mail, video conferences, mailing lists, chat, e-learning, and others. This paper implements an e-learning system as an Islamic mentoring in the Department of Information Engineering. The e-learning system has the potential to make the mentoring process more effective, because the interaction are wider open. Mentees can communicate with their mentors anytime via the internet. Through e-learning, mentees can continue learning even if they are not physically present at weekly mentoring meetings. Mentoring activities become very flexible because it can be adjusted to the availability of mentee time. Learning activities occur through mentee interaction with learning resources available in e-learning applications and can be accessed from the internet. This e-learning application can be used as a supporting facility of Islamic religious mentoring using conventional methods where mentoring participants meet weekly with their respective mentors. With e-learning applications on Islamic mentoring, mentees can interact with their mentors wherever and whenever they are. With the prerequisites, they are connected to the internet.

Thyaf. This research implemented a descriptive qualitative method with Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis model, including three dimensions of the text, discourse practice, and socio-cultural practice. The research results revealed that: (1) from the perspective of text dimension, the linguistic aspect showed resistance by the local community through the vocabulary used by the author, (2) from the perspective of discourse practice, it voiced injustice and violence due to domination of power, (3) from the perspective of socio-cultural practice, the socio-cultural context influenced the emergence of the text.

In today?s postinformation society, digital technology has the technological means and innovative solutions which can personalize and customize services to meet the requirements of every user without any barriers. Service personalization is most apparent in the use of the internet, mobile phones, TV, and e-government. Consequently, due to its characteristics, adaptability and openness, digital technology can greatly facilitate and accelerate inclusive processes in society. Mobile devices and services, the internet together with digital cable and terrestrial TV network are just some of technological tools available to modern society for the inclusion of marginalized social groups, including the persons with disabilities. The introductory chapter considers the basis for the use of digital technology in developing an inclusive society, while the research shows the extent to which digital technology is used, as well as the real needs of persons with disabilities for the purpose of finding potential to improve the quality of their life. The conducted research is based on a quantitative testing of two hypotheses, namely, whether persons with disabilities use digital technology to the same extent as persons without disabilities, and whether there are any differences with respect to the improvements of the quality of life as a result of the use of digital technology. For the purpose of testing the hypotheses, based on the sample group of 185 respondents, with 95 of them being persons with disabilities and 90 being persons without disabilities, a comparison was done of average values through t-test, as well as the comparison of relative frequencies by applying x2 test for independent samples. The results have shown that persons with disabilities use digital technology less than persons without disabilities, which only exacerbates the digital exclusion of persons with disabilities. Nevertheless, both groups have the same expectations with respect to the possibility of improving their lives. Noticeable potential for improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities has been noted by raising the use of digital technology to a higher level, especially with the use of mobile phones and the internet. The analysis of the research results has provided data which are significant for estimating the capacity of digital technology and further application of the technology in developing an inclusive society. This paper also proved that an interdisciplinary approach to such a vulnerable subject as inclusion and the social status of persons with disabilities can have beneficial results, as it can be used as guidance in further development of available tools, applications and other digital gadgets.

The article presents the results of a monitoring study of social activity on the Internet. Monitoring of the development and use of the Internet in modern society shows an active growth in the number of users of the World Wide Web. The total number of Internet users is growing dynamically together with the intensity of network use. The high intensity of Internet use, as well as the predominantly "home" use of the network, allows us to increase overall online activity, to improve the quality and versatility of such activity. There are significant qualitative changes in the use of the Internet. Network users demonstrate an active and diverse response to any social processes that occur in society and in the world. They actively use the Internet to obtain diverse social information. Online activity related to the use of the network to express their thoughts and suggestions on various social issues is also recorded. The Internet is also used to contact with government and public structures; to support specific social events that are initiated by users on the Internet, etc. Thus, it can be stated that the online activity of users covers a rather extensive content-targeted field of citizens' social activity. Nowadays, online activity acquires stability, repeatability, mass character inherent in social practices. As a result of the study, factor analysis allowed to identify the following components of online activity: cognitive-informational, emotional-communicative and effective-behavioral, reflecting the features of the meaningful and targeted structuring of social activity on the Internet. The study demonstrated the stability, repeatability, mass character, and the stable nature of the functioning of the selected components (factors) throughout the study period. It also witnessed the presence of leading online activities mediated by the space-time continuum.
