Transforming Learning Experience to Achieve Learning Outcome

Active partnership between teachers and learners that requires curriculum change in terms of student's participation during lectures and tutorials have become increasingly popular in the current curriculum development for many universities. Kolb's and Argyris theories of learning were adapted for this study to establish the framework for the constructs developed. A total of 178 samples were collected for the study. The result from the study showed significant relationship between team dynamics and learning outcome, team dynamic and learning attitude and behavior, learning attitude and behavior with learning outcome. The result also indicated full mediation of learning attitude and behavior towards team dynamics and learning outcome. The finding from this study provided a transformed culture and direction with new partnership between facilitators and students in achieving the desired learning outcome.

Traditional universities are often interrogated on their pedagogic underpinnings, while universities of technology are often left unchallenged on knowledge production. Universities of technology are often assumed to be transformed because they are a post-apartheid creation, with a mainly black, working-class student body. This assumption has led to little interrogation of the university of technology and its relationship with knowledge production. This paper explores the nature of curriculum contestation and reform at a university of technology. It outlines the historical context of a university of technology and its approach to curriculum development, which has implications for current curriculum transformation efforts. Using autoethnographic research methodology, the paper tracks a multi-year journey towards the development of a transformative, socially just curriculum intervention in the extended curriculum programme for the Architecture and Interior Design programme at a university of technology. The paper concludes that curriculum change does not happen in a vacuum, that it is political, difficult and emotionally taxing, and that it is best done in collaboration with different education stakeholders.

Introduction. Pediculosis capitis is a disease of the scalp caused by infestation of Pediculus humanus capitis with symptoms such as itching and sensation of movement in the hair. The purpose of this study was to determine the risk factors and incidence of pediculosis capitis in the Baturaja orphanage.Methods. This research is an analytic observational study using a cross-sectional design with field and laboratory research. The population of this study were all children in the Baturaja orphanage who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, as many as 172 children. All children present were taken as subjects. Data obtained by questionnaires, interviews and direct observation of the sample.Results. The results of this study showed the prevalence of pediculosis capitis in the Baturaja orphanage was 19.1%. In this study, it was found that there was a significant relationship between age (p = 0.000), education (p = 0.000), the use of shared pillows (p = 0.000), the use of shared combs (p = 0.000), the use of shared towels (p = 0.000), knowledge (p = 0.000), attitudes and behavior (p = 0.000) with the incidence of pediculosis capitis. Multivariate analysis showed that the most dominant risk factor for the incidence of pediculosis capitis in the Baturaja orphanage was age (p=0.036), while behavior was a protective factor for the incidence of pediculosis capitis.Conclusion. There is a significant relationship between age, education, use of shared pillows, use of shared combs, use of shared towels, knowledge, attitudes, behavior with the incidence of pediculosis capitis. The most dominant risk factor for the incidence of pediculosis capitis in the Baturaja orphanage is age, while behavior is a protective factor for the incidence of pediculosis capitis.

This chapter proposes an instructional game design framework based on the 4C/ID-model and cognitive load theory, its associated theoretical foundation. The proposed systematic design framework serves as the processing link to connect games’ powerful characteristics in enhancing learning experience with desired learning outcomes. In this chapter we focus on the cognitive aspect of learning outcome: the development of transferable schema. This chapter introduces design guidelines to attain specific game characteristic by prioritizing the design components in 4C/ID-model. Each game characteristic consists of three levels of design emphasis: preliminary, secondary, and tertiary. The ultimate goal of this chapter is to initiate a series of dialogue between cognitive learning outcome, systematic instructional design, and instructional game design thereby seeking to improve the overall game design and instructional efficiency.

Background: Sanitation is an effort to prevent disease by removing or regulating environmental factors related to the chain of disease transfer. Vector is an Arthropod that can cause and transmit an Infectious agent from an Infection source to vulnerable landlords.Objective: To find out the relationship between housing sanitation and the presence of vectors in densely populated neighborhoods in the Kendari sub-district of Kendari city in 2019.Methods: This was a descriptive quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted between 3 April 2019 and 3 May 2019. Data were collected using Field Learning Experience Report, and analyzed using Chi-Square test.Results: Findings indicated that there was a statistically significant relationship between housing sanitation and the existence of vectors (p=.05).Conclusion:  There was a significant relationship between the physical conditions of the house, the environment with the presence of vectors in the densely populated environment of the population of Kendari District. It is suggested for the community to improve the condition of the house to meet health requirements. The Department of Health of Kendari should continuously conduct environment and housing sanitation programs.

In this paper, the writer will use a literature analysis approach to explore the issue of teacher autonomy and professionalism in both centralized and decentralized curriculum models. Through literature analysis, the paper argues that centralized and decentralized curricula each have their own positive and negative effects on teachers' autonomy and professional development. Under the current curriculum model in China, teachers' autonomy and professionalism in curriculum development are both enhanced and limited to some extent. Based on the analysis of the literature, this paper will propose recommendations for enhancing Chinese high school teachers' autonomy and professionalism in curriculum development.

Despite the popularity of action research in the field of teacher education and professional development, not much is found regarding the role of action research in language curriculum development. This lack of interest may stem from the dominance of top-down approach over curriculum development in some EFL contexts where no special place is given to the local needs and wants. This paper starts with the definition and some basic characteristics of action research and then follows with a brief overview of its origins as well as different types. How action research can make changes in a curriculum is discussed next. Then it looks at the role action research may play in creating positive changes in teachers’ roles in curriculum development. Some of the challenges of implementing action research are mentioned later. Finally, the paper ends with some guidelines for teachers to make improvements as a result of conducting action research.

Teenage sexual behavior at risk will have an impact on increasing teenage pregnancy transmitted infection. The purpose of this study is to determine the Relationship of Knowledge and Attitude of Teenager with Sexuality Behavior in SMA Negeri 10 Rejang Lebong Regency.This study used analytical survey with Cross Sectional design. Population in this study were all students of class X and XI from SMA Negeri 10 Rejang Lebong Regency in academic year of 2017/2018. Sampling technique in this study used Simple Random Sampling. Collection data in this study used secondary and primary data who obtained from direct interviewedto the respondents. Data analysis technique in this study used univariate and bivariate analysis with Chi-Square test.The results of this study showed there was a significant relationship between knowledge and behavior of Teenager in SMA Negeri 10 Rejang Lebong Regency with moderate category relationship and there was no significant relationship between attitude and behavior of teenager in SMA Negeri 10 Rejang Lebong Regency.It is expected that students from SMA Negeri 10 Rejang LebongRegency will read more books and seek information about sexual health. Keywords: attitude, knowledge, sexuality behavior
