If social media is about the social brag and the pose, academic social media has dedicated platforms that enable such shares: learning content sharing platforms (educational channels on social video sharing sites and social image sharing sites, learning object referatories, digital libraries, slideshow sharing sites), research sharing sites, publications and review metrics platforms, social learning sites (MOOCs, LMSes), and others. The academic social brag does not have to be negative or offending; it can be designed and harnessed to improve competition and performance among peer academics (in their social sharing), given the reliance on learner/user numbers to justify the original creation and sharing. This work explores academic social bragging across various academic social sharing platforms, dimensions for how these are judged (positively or negatively), and ways to turn academic social brags into something constructive for social-shared teaching and learning.

This study explores the changing students’ habit update status in social media into update chapter to increase their achievement in English. It is a learning strategy in English language teaching and learning using social media technology. The aim is to motivate students more active to read their literature and then share and discuss their reading in social media. The students not only have to update their chapter in reading, but also have to give comment or respond to their friends update. So, this strategy makes the students discuss their lesson more than usual. This study uses questioner and documentation technic to collect the data. Based on the data, it is known that students are already using social media for purposes that include the social and the educational. Update chapter make them using this technology in class/after class. Social media brings learning outside the classroom autonomous, independent, motivational and fun. Therefore, the students‘achievement in English language teaching and learning also increases significant.

In recent years, learning materials have gradually been applied to flipped classrooms. Teachers share learning materials, and students can preview the learning materials before class. During class, the teacher can discuss students' questions from their notes from previewing the learning materials. The social media platform Facebook provides access to learning materials and diversified interactions, such as sharing knowledge, annotating learning materials, and establishing common objectives. Previous studies have explored the effect of flipped classrooms on students' learning engagement, attitudes, and performance. In this paper, we apply educational data mining to explore the relationship between students' viewing behaviors in accessing learning materials and their performance in flipped classrooms. The participants are classified into an experimental group and a control group to engage in flipped classroom activities. The experimental group uses the social media platform Facebook for flipped learning, and the control group uses a learning management system for flipped learning. The results show that there is a significant difference in the learning performance between the two groups, with the average score of the experimental group being higher than that of the control group. Furthermore, we find that the viewing behaviors and performance of the students within the experimental group differ significantly.

One aspect of profiling to enhance teaching and learning involves the various contexts in which learners will engage, such as particular social media ecosystems and their attendant microcultures (the social norms and common practices in these spaces), particularly if learners will be engaging with individuals outside of the formal classroom. Understanding the larger online social context helps define the affordances and constraints of what can be effectively taught and learned. This involves profiling the current user base of the online social spaces where the learners will be engaging and interacting and co-creating knowledge.

Blogs stand out among many social media that allows teacher and students to maintain a running dialogue in various aspect of the teaching and learning process. It comes in form of thoughts, ideas, tests, short-works/homework and assignment to enhance interactivity between the teacher’s knowledge base and students’ comments and reflections. This paper promotes the use of blogs in assessing students’ intellectuals while comparing the use of blogging for assessment as well as the use of traditional assessment. The study stresses scoring on paper versus scoring on blogs, students that we're able to complete their visitation of the blogs were noted to enjoy and benefit greatly compare to those that could not finish theirs and whether the performance of male bloggers may be different from that of female bloggers. 45 students involved in this study from among degree students of Achievers University. The research study was done within a semester. The achievement test was the major instrument used to collect data from the same students that were exposed to two different tests (Paper Test/Traditional Test and Blogging Test) after proper classroom teaching. The results got were analyzed using mean, SD and T-test statistics. From the findings, it was succinctly shown that the scores of students engaged in blogs far better than when they initially tested traditionally. In the same trend, those students that completed their test on blogs demonstrated high performance than their counterparts that could not. Further, the results also made it crystal clear that students were distributed equally on blogging regardless of their gender differences. The findings from the interview conducted established the fact that the use of a blog for assessment saves student time, the distance for learning and having quick result as feedback. Since its foundation in 2005, YouTube, which is considered to be the largest video sharing site, has undergone substantial changes. Over the last decade, the platform developed into a leading marketing tool used for product promotion by social media influencers. Past research indicates that these influencers are regarded as opinion leaders and cooperate with brands to market products on YouTube through electronic-word-of-mouth mechanisms. However, surprisingly little is known about the magnitude of this phenomenon. In our article, we make a first attempt to quantify product promotion and use an original dataset of 139,475 videos created by German YouTube channels between 2009 and 2017. Applying methods for automated content analysis, we find that YouTube users indeed are confronted with an ever-growing share of product promotion, particularly in the beauty and fashion sector. Our findings fuel concerns regarding the social and economic impact of influencers, especially on younger target groups.

Traditional e-Learning system displays the same content to all the learners irrespective of their knowledge level and relevance. This paper enumerates insight into the learner‟s perspective and expectation on medium of study such as regional language verses English language at education institute in fathoming the core subject or e-content provided to them in English and proposes a design for developing an adaptive e-Learning system personalized to the learner. To investigate into the learner‟s individual desire the best cutting edge practice of applying statistical tools along with a plausible framework is being adapted. The results implied that the medium of instruction (Regional language / English) at school has greater impact on the performance compared to the region (Rural / Urban) the students hailed from, when the same content is given to them in English using traditional e- Learning. However, often there exists a widespread difference among regional language as a medium of learning in rural area and English as a medium of learning in urban area. Therefore, this study intend to develop e-learning content based on individual student capability to understand using systematic decision making and customized rules. The social implication of this study reveals that adaptive elearning based on individual personal capacity and customized e-learning content has been successfully implemented and effectively established a balanced trade-off between regional language as a medium students and English as a medium of learning student‟s knowledge and performance.

Abstract Background: To make an analysis and propose solutions to improve the teaching and learning process in the scenario of the Basic Family Health Units (BFHU). Method: First phase: Authors conducted a qualitative-quantitative study with students and preceptors of Primary Care containing open and closed questions from medical schools. The closed questions were presented as descriptive statistics and the open ones from the creation of categories. It was pointed out the perception of the main problems for teaching learning. Second phase: Meetings were held from students and respective preceptor for 6 months, using electronic portals, through the application of new questionnaires, using the Likert scale in pre and post evaluation. Results: On the first phase, 40% of the students considered as a problem the degree of training of the local preceptor. A similar result was found in the speech of the teacher, which categorization revealed a lack of adequacy between training and performance in Primary Care in most of the categories created. Based on our results, we used the BHFU to apply new strategies little used for teaching and learning, in order to improve health practices, such as the use of the Evidence Based Health portal, which has shown greater navigability and offers studies with clinical evidence criteria. On the second phase, the authors identified an improvement in the quality of learning both by the preceptor and by the students. Conclusions: The use of electronic portals can be a tool that legitimized or enhance the teaching and learning (teaching/learning space) in BHFU.
