Lessons to the “Kyosei” Inclusive Society

It is essential to know that there are various cultures in the world and necessary to understand and respect them to live together, also known as “共生 Kyosei.” Japan is assumed to be a homogeneous society, but there are indigenous people who have consciousness detached from Japan. In recent years, the number of foreign newcomers has also been increasing. Under these circumstances, the importance of mutual understanding of different cultures and languages has been made apparent in the field of education, and understanding the diversity of culture in education is being promoted. In this study, three educational practices targeting schoolteachers and adults in the Japanese community to promote international understanding and multicultural education will be presented and examined. The “共生 Kyosei” practices have been found to help teachers design their multicultural education as well as to help students to understand the cultural diversity and help them to realize how they live together with people who have different social backgrounds.

As we know, multiculturalism denotes a society in which many different cultures co exist. It is a concept aimed at the preservation and development of the cultural diversity of people of different ethnicities and faiths in any country and in the world as a whole and the ethnocultural integration of ethnic minorities. As a crossroads of different civilisations, our ancient homeland Azerbaijan has, for centuries, been known as a country with an established atmosphere of ethnocultural diversity where representatives of different ethnic groups and faiths have lived in an environment of peace, tranquillity and mutual understanding. Multiculturalism and tolerance have historically been a way of life of Azerbaijanis, and today it has become a way of life of every citizen of the Azerbaijani state regardless of their national identity, language or religion. The rich multicultural past of the Azerbaijani people has survived not only in today’s tolerant lifestyle of our people, but also in the literary-artistic, scientificphilosophical and political-legal sources and documents created by our people. In the broad sense, the essence of multiculturalism is that the state does not discriminate against individuals or social groups representing different and unique cultures, does not regard any of them superior or inferior to the others, and grants equal rights to representatives of all cultures.

Cultural diversity in the workplace has grown as a trend over the passage of time with the increase of globalization in the world. One positive effect is that employees belonging to different cultures usually have different ways of thinking and can thus analyze a matter at hand from a variety of perspectives. This is hard to achieve when employees belonging to the same culture are asked to analyze the same matter.

Аннотация. В статье рассматриваются лингвистические и экстралингвистические причины и пути проникновения языковых единиц в условиях интерференции контактирующих языков, так как язык отражает особенности культуры, истории развития определенного этноса и его языка. В настоящее время знание языков открывает широчайшие возможности для знакомства и общения с представителями различных культур, расширения кругозора, а также получения информации по разным областям знаний. Стремительно расширяются границы общения и люди осознают, что без знаний двух и более языков в эпоху глобализации не обойтись. На современном этапе в результате бурного развития современных информационных технологий и компьютеризации различных сфер человеческой деятельности в мире сформировалось единое культурное пространство. И оно ставит перед человечеством новые задачи – обеспечение устойчивого развития и достижение социальной гармонии, взаимопонимания между представителями различных этнических и социальных групп, что, в свою очередь, немыслимо без преодоления языковых барьеров между народами. In this article is considered linguistic and extra linguistic causes and ways of penetration of linguistic units in the conditions of interference of contacting lan- guages, as the language reflects the cultural characteristics, the history of the develop- ment of a particular ethnic group and its language. Currently, knowledge of languages opens up the broadest for meeting and communicating with people of different cultures, expanding horizons, as well as obtaining information on various fields of knowledge. The boundaries of communication are rapidly expanding, and people realize that knowledge of two or more languages in the era of globalization cannot be avoided. At the present stage, as a result of the rapid development of modern information technologies and the computerization of various spheres of human activity in the world, a single cultural space has been formed. And it sets mankind with new tasks: ensuring sustainable development and achieving social harmony, mutual understanding between representatives of various ethnic and social groups, which, in turn, are unthinkable without overcoming language barriers between nations. Multicutural is a term used to describe one's view of the variety of life in the world, or cultural policy emphasizing their acceptance of diversity, and a wide range of cultures (multicultural) that exist in society regarding values, system, culture, customs and politics that they profess. The effectiveness of counseling depends on many factors the most important is the relation to each other, and mutual understanding between counselor and client. Cultural differences that exist in this country requires the counselor needs to understand the different cultures that exist. Importance of multicultural for counselors as a form of consciousness that the counselor and client have cultural differences. Multicultural counseling a counseling relationship with the concept that there is a counselor with a client who has a cultural background, values and different lifestyles. Building a good relationship when the counseling process takes place so that the counselor can understand the culture of its clients one of the key attitudes that exist within konsleor is empathy. Counselors who have empathy will be able to understand the way the world through the perspective of the client.

Improvement and preconditions for multicultural education are associated with the democratic society development which is characterized by openness to other countries, peoples and cultures. Mutual understanding is its most important value. The ongoing integration processes in the world, the desire of Russia and other countries to integrate into the world and European sociocultural and educational space, while preserving the national identity, determines the multicultural education development. Education in a multicultural society, according to experts, is associated with the optimal models of the educational process, various methods and technologies of educational activities. They really include students in the multicultural educational space, they form the qualities necessary for successful adaptation and self-realization in the modern world.

This chapter examines Merata Mita’s Mauri, the first fiction feature film in the world to be solely written and directed by an indigenous woman, as an example of “Fourth Cinema” – that is, a form of filmmaking that aims to create, produce, and transmit the stories of indigenous people, and in their own image – showing how Mita presents the coming-of-age story of a Māori girl who grows into an understanding of the spiritual dimension of the relationship of her people to the natural world, and to the ancestors who have preceded them. The discussion demonstrates how the film adopts storytelling procedures that reflect a distinctively Māori view of time and are designed to signify the presence of the mauri (or life force) in the Māori world.

This article explores ornithology as a hidden resource in anthropological field work. Relating experiences among the Penan forest nomads of Sarawak, Borneo, the author describes how his personal knowledge of bird life paved the way for good working relations, and even friendship, with the Penan. Representing two very different cultures simple communication between the scholar on duty and the Penan community was difficult indeed, but the birds provided a common ground that enabled the two parties to exchange experiences, knowledge and skills. In certain ways the author's fieldwork-based project relates to the Penan’s religious interpretation of birds, but the article is primarily concerned with the fact that a mutual understanding was created from this common ground, and that our thoughts on fieldwork preparations may be taken further by such experiences.

Indonesian nation consist of many kind of culture, ethnic, race, religion, etc. At one side that diversity is a treasure of Indonesian, but at other side it triggers social conflict. Conflict that happens about three decade of New Order power is because our education always teaching similarity (uniformity) and averse plurality. Therefore, this paper suggested multicultural education as solution to this problem. Multicultural education has to be implemented on learning process at school. It not necessarily became separated lesson, but can integrated to every lesson . Multicultural education is a process to cultivating attitude to respect each other, honest, and tolerant to cultural diversity that exit on the plural society. With multicultural education we hope there’s toughness and flexibility of this nation to face the clash of social conflict.

The Sri Lankan Ministry of National Coexistence, Dialogue, and Official Languages published the work “People of Sri Lanka” in 2017. In this comprehensive publication, 21 invited Sri Lankan scholars introduced 19 different people’s groups to public readers in English, mainly targeted at a growing number of foreign visitors in need of understanding the cultural diversity Sri Lanka has to offer. This paper will observe the presentation of these different groups of people, the role music and allied arts play in this context. Considering the non-scholarly design of the publication, a discussion of the role of music and allied arts has to be supplemented through additional analyses based on sources mentioned by the 21 participating scholars and their fragmented application of available knowledge. In result, this paper might help improve the way facts about groups of people, the way of grouping people, and the way of presenting these groupings are displayed to the world beyond South Asia. This fieldwork and literature guided investigation should also lead to suggestions for ethical principles in teaching and presenting of culturally different music practices within Sri Lanka, thus adding an example for other case studies.
