Destabilizing the Activity System of Online Teaching Through Critical Theory

Despite the rapid and prolific uptake of online learning across higher education, the promised positive impact of digital technologies on the quality of learning has mostly failed to materialize. The need for change or reshaping of teaching practice in online environments is well documented, and there is much literature encouraging educators to exploit the affordances of digital media to provide rich learning experiences. However, efforts to affect the needed changes in practice are not very successful. In the present chapter, the authors adopt a framework of activity theory and integrate it with principles of critical theory and transformative practice to better understand why change in teaching practices in online environments has been difficult to realize. The authors also provide a theoretical framework that may be applied to driving change in online teaching practices.

The present study is aimed at achieving main objectives i.e. to study the effect of Inquisitiveness and Attitude on Teaching Effectiveness among pupils' teachers practicing classroom-teaching practices; to study the effect of Inquisitiveness and Attitude on Teaching Effectiveness among pupils teachers practicing online-teaching practices, to explore the effectiveness of online teaching practice, to find out the future horizons of online teaching practice in Indian perspective. The sample of the present study is pupil teacher studying in Dayalbagh Educational Institute Deemed University Agra. 150 pupil teachers practicing classroom teaching and 150 pupil teachers practicing online teaching have been selected. T-Test, Linear Regression and SWOT Analysis have been used as statistical techniques. Pupil teachers possess more positive attitude and inquisitiveness towards online teaching practice in comparison to classroom teaching practice. Inquisitiveness and attitude significantly predicts the teaching effectiveness in online teaching practice and classroom teaching.

The use of digital teaching-learning methods and technologies in the didactic activity contributes to the improvement of the quality of the instructive-educational process, having an active-participatory character and a real active-formative value on the student's personality. In the socio-cultural tradition, ICT is defined as a means of mediation for knowledge, and from a dialogical perspective, it is seen as a means of opening, deepening and broadening the aspirations of dialogue. We must not forget that learning does not only involve the accumulation of knowledge, but growth, enrichment, evolution. Some rules can be stated for the successful integration of ICT in teaching. First of all, we must be sure that we have control over the material, both in terms of content and format, even if you are supported by an ICT specialist. Then it is necessary to have a plan on paper, separate from the material on digital media, the purpose and form of the presentation should not be very clear. Above all, the focus must be on the student and his learning needs. The biggest danger in any teaching-learning project that includes ICT and to be more focused on technology / creativity, not on the student-receiver and his learning needs.

This paper is intended for new faculty and faculty who are new to using digital technologies and a learning management system in their instruction. As experienced faculty in the College of Education, the authors make a concerted effort to support faculty in their use of instructional technology. In this paper, the authors share their experiences with faculty who are taking early the early steps in the journey to integrate digital technologies into their instruction. The authors hope this article will help faculty on their journey by supporting them in teaching with technology. The authors focus on faculty development, adoption of new technologies into faculties' instructional practices, and introductory online teaching practices. The authors' ultimate goal is to support student learning by helping faculty encourage learning for the entire continuum of students: students who need to be supported as they develop digital literacy and those who come to us embracing technologies wholeheartedly.

Teaching and learning have radically changed in the COVID-19 era and highlighted many novel aspects of online teaching and learning. Based on a qualitative content analysis of central European university students’ responses, the aim of this study is to discuss their reflections on the use of digital media in foreign language classes during the COVID-19 pandemic. The key method of this qualitative study includes focus group interviews. The results reveal both advantages and disadvantages of online foreign language teaching and their impact on students’ second language (L2) acquisition. The positive aspects involve satisfaction with being able to study a foreign language from the comfort from their homes, avoidance of commuting to school, ample opportunities to review the learning material, or improvement of listening skills. On the contrary, the negative aspects included a striking lack of social contact in the form of face-to-face classes, absence of collaboration between the teacher and students and between the students themselves in order to share and build on their knowledge and experience, health issues associated with a frequent exposure to technologies, or a lack of possibility to develop speaking skills. In conclusion, the authors of this study provide several implications for teaching practice, technology experts, and other stakeholders, which must be considered very seriously, as they represent the opinion of the users of online learning.

The article discusses government policy in the field of digital transformation of the country. The concept of public policy and digitalization is considered. It is noted that a properly constructed legal and state policy is the key to achieving success in the intended goal in the development of the country. An attempt is made to highlight the positive aspects of both competent public policy and the development of the state at the rate of using innovative technologies. The author tried to highlight the positive impact of the transition to digital technologies on the quality of human life and government activities in the future. Several examples of the implementation of automated information systems are given.

Esta pesquisa teve por objetivo investigar como ocorre o ensino de teclado a distância, no âmbito do curso de licenciatura em Música a distância da Universidade de Brasília (UnB), assim como a utilização das tecnologias digitais nessa modalidade de ensino. A metodologia adotada foi o estudo de caso e os dados foram obtidos a partir de entrevistas semiestruturadas com os professores responsáveis pela criação das disciplinas de teclado do referido curso. Verificou-se que o ensino de teclado a distância ocorre prioritariamente de modo assíncrono entre professor e aluno por meio de materiais pedagógicos, produzidos previamente e veiculados por meio da combinação de diversas mídias digitais. O emprego das tecnologias digitais no ensino a distância é massivo e sua utilização, por vezes, é aleatória. Apesar de a interação entre professor e aluno ocorrer majoritariamente assincronamente, em detrimento das formas síncronas de comunicação, o aprendizado do teclado é viável para a finalidade a que se dispõe: ter o instrumento de teclas para ensinar e fazer música.Palavras-chave: Educação a distância; Educação musical a distância; Docência on-line; Tecnologias digitais. The Online Teaching: A Case in Teaching of Keyboard in Distance Music Degree of UnBAbstract This research aimed to investigate how teaching keyboard at distance occurs in Music distance education program at University of Brasília (UnB), as well as the use of digital technologies in this modality of teaching. The methodology adopted was the case study and data was obtained from semi-structured interviews with the teachers responsible for the elaboration of keyboard courses from the refered program. It was found that the teaching of keyboard at distance occurs primarily asynchronously between teacher and students and through the learning materials produced in advance and broadcasted through a combination of various digital media. The use of digital technologies is massive and its use sometimes is random. Although the interaction between teacher and student occurs mostly asynchronously to the detriment of synchronous forms of communication, learning keyboard is viable for the proposed goal: have keyboard instrument as a tool to teach and to make music.Keywords: Distance education; Music distance education; On-line teaching; Digital technologies.

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam which has a function of faith, social and economic functions. Muslims who can pay zakat are required to give at least 2.5 per cent of their wealth. The problem of poverty prevalent in disadvantaged regions because of the difficulty of access to information and communication led to a gap that is so high in wealth and resources. The instrument of zakat provides a paradigm in the achievement of equitable wealth distribution and healthy circulation. Zakat potentially offers a better life and improves the quality of human being. There is a human quality improvement not only in economic terms but also in spiritual terms such as improving religiousity. This study aims to examine the role of zakat to alleviate humanitarian issues in disadvantaged regions such as Sijunjung, one of zakat beneficiaries and impoverished areas in Indonesia. The researcher attempted a Cibest method to capture the impact of zakat beneficiaries before and after becoming a member of Zakat Community Development (ZCD) Program in material and spiritual value. The overall analysis shows that zakat has a positive impact on disadvantaged regions development and enhance the quality of life of the community. There is an improvement in the average of mustahik household incomes after becoming a member of ZCD Program. Cibest model demonstrates that material, spiritual, and absolute poverty index decreased by 10, 5, and 6 per cent. Meanwhile, the welfare index is increased by 21 per cent. These findings have significant implications for developing the quality of life in disadvantaged regions in Sijunjung. Therefore, zakat is one of the instruments to change the status of disadvantaged areas to be equivalent to other areas.

Heart failure (HF) affects more than 5 million people and has an increasing incidence and cost burden. Patients note symptoms of dyspnea and fatigue that result in a decreased quality of life, which has not drastically improved over the past decades despite advances in therapies. The assessment of exercise capacity can provide information regarding patient diagnosis and prognosis, while doubling as a potential future therapy. clinically, there is acceptance that exercise is safe in hf and can have a positive impact on morbidity and quality of life, although evidence for improvement in mortality is still lacking. specific prescriptions for exercise training have not been developed because many variables and confounding factors have prevented research trials from demonstrating an ideal regimen. Physicians are becoming more aware of the indices and goals for hf patients in exercise testing and therapy to provide comprehensive cardiac care. it is further postulated that a combination of exercise training and pharmacologic therapy may eventually provide the most benefits to those suffering from hf.

Subject. This article explores the basic elements of the engineering infrastructure of smart cities. Objectives. The article aims to systematize theoretical descriptions of the engineering infrastructure of a smart city. Methods. For the study, we used a logical analysis and systematization. Results. The article highlights the main areas of infrastructure development of smart cities. Conclusions. Improving process management mechanisms, optimizing urban infrastructure, increasing the use of digital technologies, and developing socio-economic innovation improve the quality of the urban environment in a digitalized environment. And improving the efficiency of urban planning and security, studying its properties and characteristics, and forming an effective urban information system lead to its functional transformations.
