As we examine teleworking rules and best practices, we see people deal every day with the requirement to account for their time, performance, and efficiency. This can be emotionally charged due to a lack of clarity in the ways telework is managed, and that is why the authors examine radical change. Radical change involves behavioral indicators that can prove invaluable to starting or improving teleworking. The effect of emotion on radical change dynamics can be best understood by looking at the change process as separate components. There are three critical steps required to achieve radical change: receptivity, mobilization, and learning. At any fixed point in time, a person can accept the need for the proposed change if there is an interpretive, attitudinal state on the cognitive and emotional level. These steps are used to adjust to the cognitive and emotional levels of people involved in change operations.

Abstract Natural gas coming from the well contains hydrocarbons, CO2, H2S, and water together with many other impurities. Molecular sieve treatment of the gas is required to make it suitable for the various applications. The several process and parameters considerations contribute to the reliable and optimized operation of molecular sieve natural gas treaters. The journey of this molecular sieve treater optimization commenced by conducting a thorough systematic study of all existing treater performance by considering various operating critical parameter. The technical feasibility studies were completed covering all the aspects like evaluating current performance of treater, conducting simulation for future capacity, licensor endorsement, conducting breakthrough test. Finally, study outcomes were implemented through management change process. The main benefits of optimization of molecular sieve treater process are to extend the service life of molecular sieve which enable us to increase the turnaround cycle of NGL trains. Significant reduction in CAPEX and OPEX cost were realized by reducing new fresh molecular sieve procurement, reducing disposal of molecular sieve waste material and expense of shutdown, achieving 100% HSE. This paper presents the typical operation issues and challenges in molecular sieve treatment process, best practices adopted for maximizing of existing assets considering the current and design scenarios, and performance improvement, which result to extend molecular sieve life, increase of NGL shutdown cycle and flaring reduction in trains.

This research asked 252 upper-, middle-, and first-line-level managers in organizations experiencing radical change to assess the effects of their own leaders’ communications and behaviors on their perceptions of the change process. Results indicated that the frequency of exhibition of most behaviors by leaders positively affected subordinates’ perceptions of change. For three types of behaviors, soliciting upward feedback, driving change, and providing resources, the importance of these behaviors to the subordinates’ moderated perceptions of the change process. Discussion of these results and their implications conclude the study.

This paper presents part of the change process carried out at the Portucalense University (UPT), Portugal, aimed at promoting student centred teaching and learning. To attain this goal, the Centre for Excellence in Teaching (CET) was created to support academic staff in the achievement of this outcome. The objectives of the CET are to promote pedagogic training sessions for academic staff, to develop pedagogical resources and publications and to create a website for the dissemination of best practices and for the recognition of teaching quality at UPT. The preliminary results of the implementation of the activities developed by the CET reveal a positive participation and involvement of academic staff. Teachers showed interest in developing active learning strategies and openness to change their teaching practices. Some examples of the activities implemented by teachers, in the first semester of 2017/2018, are briefly presemted in this paper.

This article discusses the impact of COVID-19 on education system. Changes in education system have been interpreted this paper from both Turkey as well as the world in general. While education was shaped according to Covid-19, did it actually fulfill the necessity of the age of the 21st century? In fact, online education was an idea that many schools had designed, but it wasn't much studied on it. Thanks to COVID-19, the transition of education to online platforms could not be achieved step by step. Education underwent a mandatory change without sufficient study time. For such a radical change, it is necessary to proceed step by step, and this is a time-consuming process. There was no opportunity to see the shortcomings in the change process of education system. The world suddenly abandoned traditional education, education modernized in accordance with the age. Also, this sudden change in education system has brought many problems. With online education, it is estimated that there will be certain skill deficiencies in future students. This may affect the productivity in business life in the future. In this article, economic aspects of digitalization of education will be discussed. Well-managed issues, inadequacies and inequalities in the online education process will be emphasized in paper. As a result of different researches and surveys, online education has been addressed from different perspectives.

This article reports on the management and outcomes of a radical change programme within a public sector agency. The findings reveal a significant divergence between management and employee experiences of the change process and significant differences in outcome perceptions. While management remains adamant that radical change has been achieved, employees report much more limited, incremental change – a position supported by the research findings. Using a grounded theory approach, the article seeks to explain the reasons for radical change failure and based on these proposes a ‘Radical Change Engagement’ model for use during such periods. While based on public sector research, it is contended that the model has implications and applicability for any organization undergoing radical change.

Simulation of neural behavior on digital architectures often requires the solution of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) at each step of the simulation. For some neural models, this is a significant computational burden, so efficiency is important. Accuracy is also relevant because solutions can be sensitive to model parameterization and time step. These issues are emphasized on fixed-point processors like the ARM unit used in the SpiNNaker architecture. Using the Izhikevich neural model as an example, we explore some solution methods, showing how specific techniques can be used to find balanced solutions. We have investigated a number of important and related issues, such as introducing explicit solver reduction (ESR) for merging an explicit ODE solver and autonomous ODE into one algebraic formula, with benefits for both accuracy and speed; a simple, efficient mechanism for cancelling the cumulative lag in state variables caused by threshold crossing between time steps; an exact result for the membrane potential of the Izhikevich model with the other state variable held fixed. Parametric variations of the Izhikevich neuron show both similarities and differences in terms of algorithms and arithmetic types that perform well, making an overall best solution challenging to identify, but we show that particular cases can be improved significantly using the techniques described. Using a 1 ms simulation time step and 32-bit fixed-point arithmetic to promote real-time performance, one of the second-order Runge-Kutta methods looks to be the best compromise; Midpoint for speed or Trapezoid for accuracy. SpiNNaker offers an unusual combination of low energy use and real-time performance, so some compromises on accuracy might be expected. However, with a careful choice of approach, results comparable to those of general-purpose systems should be possible in many realistic cases.

This article discusses results of research exploring the influence and role of middle management during organisational culture change. Qualitative and quantitative data were collected from a medium-sized organisation undergoing a radical change process. Previous research has highlighted the time required for such cultural change, a period of seven years often being considered realistic. However, the role of middle management has rarely been considered. Findings indicate that middle management are an important influencing factor within cultural change adopting a range of roles andhelping cultural change to be realised within a far shorter time.
The paper addresses structural inertia and radical change in countries which have suffered from stagnant inertial forces. In light of the punctuated equilibrium model, the paper introduces two propositions which suggest that such forces have established the necessary conditions for radical change. Also, social media networks have been a factor in creating such change by galvanizing protestors and by allowing them to share information, to organize, and to build support and momentum for the change process.
