Do Pregnant Women Using Smartphones Care About Their Privacy?

With a gigantic growth in internet and application usage, especially with the use of smartphones, ‘privacy' concerns reverberates and dealing with privacy issues from such an arena is a new task for many researchers. This wide usage of mobile application and internet opens up Pandora's box – ‘privacy concerns'. This paper tries to understand the privacy concern hovering among pregnant women. The study found that education, mHealth literacy, mobile app usage, and employment is a robust predictor of HIPC. However, age, social-economic status, maternity benefit scheme membership, pregnancy apps usage, mobile spending, mobile basic services usage does not play a significant role in HIPC. Overall, the results suggest that as users' awareness level on privacy policies and issues increase, privacy concern decreases.

In recent years, privacy issues have attracted more and more attention. This paper combines existing research and the CFIP scale to construct a model of college students’ concerns about Internet privacy, and validates the model based on data from 445 questionnaires. The results show that perceived privacy risks, privacy control, privacy tendencies, misrepresentation, improper access, and unauthorized secondary use all have a significant impact on privacy concerns, and environmental factors have a more significant impact on privacy concerns. On this basis, relevant suggestions are provided.

Mobile phone have user’s personal and private information. When mobile applications have the permission to access to this information they may leak it to third parties without user’s consent for their own benefits. As users are not aware of how their personal information would be used once applications are installed and permissions are granted, this raises a potential privacy concern. Therefore, there is a need for a risk assessment model that can intimate the users about the threats the mobile application poses to the user's private information. We propose an approach that helps in increasing user’s awareness of the privacy risk involved with granting permissions to Android applications. The proposed model focuses on the requested permissions of the application and determines the risk based on the permission set asked and gives a risk score.

This research examined the extent to which social-media users' privacy concerns affected the likelihood that they would pay a fee in exchange for a social-media company promising not to use or sell that user's data. Data to empirically test the theoretical model were collected by administering a survey to social-media users. The sample consisted of 173 usable responses. The results of the analyses, including the structural model show that users' knowledge of privacy issues, personal experience with invasions of privacy, and their levels of risk intolerance, influenced the likelihood that they would pay a privacy fee, indirectly, through their concern for privacy. Furthermore, concern for privacy had a significant, positive effect on the magnitude of an expected privacy fee.

Engaging normative theories of the press and research examining the evolution of privacy coverage, this study examines press coverage of mobile app privacy issues between 2013 and 2016. The research sheds light on how the press frames privacy concerns within the mobile app context. Since such coverage can define the norms circumscribing the flows of users’ personal information, this study contributes to the debate about the role of the press in alerting the public to privacy issues that carry significant public interest implications. Ultimately, mobile privacy coverage favors certain solutions over others, emphasizes privacy tradeoffs over privacy rights, and balances user powerlessness with mobile app convenience and innovation, with implications for privacy discourses in public and policy arenas.

ABSTRACT According to the World Health Organization (WHO), maternal nutritional status at the time of growth and during pregnancy can affect fetal growth and development. Based on (IDHS) survey of 2007 AKI Indonesia at 228 per 100,000 live births, although this figure is still the highest in Asia. Social health center in Palembang in 2011 the number of pregnant women with good nutritional status of 67 men (97.1%). factors that influence the nutritional status of pregnant women is the temperature of the environment, economic status, habits and views of women to food, age, education, and health status. The purpose of this study is a known relationship education and economic status with nutritional status of pregnant women in the third trimester of Social Health Center Palembang in 2012. This study uses analytic survey with cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all third trimester pregnant women who visit the health center Social Palembang in May 2012, with a sample of 30 respondents. Sampling in this study with non-random methods with techniques Accidental Sampling. Data analysis carried out univariate and bivariate statistics with Chi-Square test with significance level α = 0.05. The results showed than 30 respondents there (73.3%) of respondents that good nutritional status, higher education (76.7%), and high economic status (70.0%). The results of this study showed no significant association education and economic status with nutritional status of pregnant women in the third trimester of Social Health Center Palembang in 2012. From the results of this study, researchers hope to improve the health care workers, especially health services in Antenatal Care services pay more attention to maternal risk of poor nutritional status.   ABSTRAK Menurut World Health Organization (WHO), status gizi ibu hamil pada waktu pertumbuhan dan selama hamil dapat mempengaruhi pertumbuhan dan perkembangan janin. Berdasarkan (SDKI) survei terakhir tahun 2007 AKI Indonesia sebesar 228 per 100.000 Kelahiran Hidup, meskipun demikian angka tersebut masih tertinggi di Asia.  Di Puskesmas Sosial Palembang tahun 2011 jumlah ibu hamil yang berstatus gizi baik sebesar 67 orang (97,1%). faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi status gizi ibu hamil adalah suhu lingkungan, status ekonomi, kebiasaan dan pandangan wanita terhadap makanan, usia, pendidikan, dan status kesehatan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah diketahuinya hubungan pendidikan dan status ekonomi dengan status gizi ibu hamil trimester III di Puskesmas Sosial Palembang tahun 2012. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah semua ibu hamil trimester III yang berkunjung di Puskesmas Sosial Palembang pada bulan Mei tahun 2012, dengan jumlah sampel 30 responden. Pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini dengan metode non random dengan teknik Accidental Sampling. Analisa data dilakukan secara univariat dan bivariat dengan uji statistik Chi-Square dengan tingkat kemaknaan α = 0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dari 30 responden terdapat (73,3%) responden yang berstatus gizi baik, pendidikan tinggi (76,7%), dan status ekonomi tinggi (70,0%). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan ada hubungan yang bermakna pendidikan dan status ekonomi dengan status gizi ibu hamil trimester III di Puskesmas Sosial Palembang tahun 2012. Dari hasil penelitian ini, peneliti berharap petugas pelayanan kesehatan dapat meningkatkan pelayanan kesehatan terutama dalam pelayanan Antenatal Care lebih memperhatikan kehamilan ibu yang berisiko status gizi buruk.

BACKGROUND The mobile health (mHealth) provides a new opportunity for patients’ disease prediction and health self-management. At the same time, privacy problems in mHealth have brought forth significant attention concerning patients' online health information disclosure and hindered mHealth development. OBJECTIVE Privacy calculus theory (PCT) has been widely used to understand personal information disclosure behaviors with the basic assumption of a national and linear decision-making process. However, people’s cognitive behavior processes are complex and mutual. In attempting to close this knowledge gap, we further optimize the information disclosure model of patients based on PCT by identifying the mutual relationship between costs (privacy concerns) and benefits. Social support, which has been proved to be a distinct and significant disclosure benefit of mHealth, was chosen to be the representative benefit of information disclosure in mHealth. METHODS From an individual perspective, a structural equation model with privacy concerns, health information disclosure intention in mHealth, and social support from mHealth has been examined. RESULTS 253 randomly selected participants provided validated questionnaire. The result indicated that perceived health information sensitivity positively enhances the privacy concern (0.505, p<0.01), and higher privacy concern levels will decrease the health information disclosure intention (-0.338, p<0.01). Various aspects of individual characters influence perceived health information sensitivity in different ways. The informational support has a negatively moderate on reduce the positive effect between perceived health information sensitivity and privacy concerns (-0.171, p<0.1) and will decrease the negative effect between privacy concerns and health information disclosure intention(-0.105, p<0.1). However, emotional support has no directly moderate effect on both privacy concerns and health information disclosure intention. CONCLUSIONS The results indicate that social support can be regarded as a disutility reducer, that is, on the one hand, it reduces the privacy concerns of patients; on the other hand, it also reduces the negative impact of privacy concerns on information disclosure intention. Moreover, the moderate effect of social support is partially supported. Informational support, one demission of social support, is significant, while the other demission, emotional support, is not significant in mHealth. Furthermore, the results are different among patients with different individual characteristics. This study also provides specific theoretical and practical implications to enhance the development of mHealth.

Abstract Background Serum 25 hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] levels of pregnant women have been linked to various health outcomes in their offspring. Satellite-derived ultraviolet radiation (UVR) data have been used as a proxy for 25(OH)D levels, as individual-level cohort studies are time-consuming, costly and only feasible for common outcomes. Methods Data on 25(OH)D levels from a public laboratory database were linked to data from the Western Australian Midwives’ Notification System and daily erythemal UVR dose from NASA satellites. Regression analysis was used to identify the time period prior to venesection where daily UVR dose best predicted 25(OH)D levels. A predictive model was used to validate the use of daily UVR dose as a proxy for personal sun exposure during pregnancy. Results Data from 19 173 pregnancies in women aged 18–43 years in Western Australia were included. The daily UVR dose averaged over the 90 days before venesection was the strongest UVR predictor of 25(OH)D level (a 5% increase per 1000 J m–2; equal to 3.3 nmol L–1 at the median of 66 nmol L–1). Ethnicity was the strongest predictor of 25(OH)D levels (21% lower in non-Caucasian vs Caucasian: equal to 7.2 nmol L–1 difference). Other significant predictors were gestation, age, year, parity, socio-economic status, remoteness, medical conditions and season. Conclusion NASA-derived erythemal UVR dose in the 90 days prior to venesection is a significant predictor of 25(OH)D levels in pregnant women. Linked administrative data can be used to investigate associations between UVR during pregnancy and health outcomes in offspring.

Background:Mobile health applications are frequently used to increase exercise adherence in patients with musculoskeletal problems. However, the usability of these health mobile applications mostly has not been proven. In our previous study, the usability of the mobile app, which includes postural correction and neck spinal stabilization exercises, has been proven. (M.U-NeckExercise application)Objectives:The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the mobile application-based home exercise program for patients with chronic neck pain.Methods:60 people with chronic neck pain were participated in the our study. They were randomized into two groups. The first group (n:30) received home exercises via the novel mobile app, and the second group (n:30) received the same home exercises via the brochure. The exercise program consisted of neck and thoracic postural correction and neck spinal stabilization exercises. Participants has been requested to do the exercises 3 days in a week for 6 weeks. Participants’ pain levels were assessed by using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), their neck-related functional limitations were evaluated by Neck Pain and Disability Index (BADI). Exercise adherence was meausered with a ratio of total participated sessions compared with the target defined by patient activation monitor and exercise adherance questionnaire. Targeted participation were %60 of total sessions.Results:In both groups, the improvement in VAS and BADI scores was statistically significant (p<0.05). It was found that the pain parameters of VAS score decreased statistically more in the mobile application-based exercise group (p<0.05). While there was no statistically significant difference between the groups in the BADI score, the effect size results was higher in the mobile app group (effect size= 0.411). Our exercise commitment target in the mobile app group was an average of 10.5 sessions. The target session number has been reached 11.25 sessions.Conclusion:It has been observed that the mobile application-based exercise program is effective in reducing pain and increasing exercise adherence in people with chronic neck pain. Abstract Technological advancements have transformed healthcare. System delays in transferring patients with ST- segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) to a primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) center are associated with worse clinical outcomes. Our aim was to design and develop a secure mobile application, STEMIcathAID, streamlining communication and coordination between the STEMI care teams to reduce ischemia time and improve patient outcomes. The app was designed for transfer of patients with STEMI to a cardiac catheterization laboratory (CCL) from an emergency department (ED) of either a PCI capable or a non-PCI capable hospital. When a suspected STEMI arrives to a non-PCI hospital ED, the ED physician uploads the EKG and relevant patient information. An instant notification is simultaneously sent to the on-call CCL attending and transfer center. The attending reviews the information, makes a video call and decides to either accept or reject the transfer. If accepted, on-call CCL team members receive an immediate push notification and begin communicating with the ED team via a HIPPA compliant chat. The app provides live GPS tracking of the ambulance and frequent clinical status updates of the patient. In addition, it allows for screening of STEMI patients in cardiogenic shock. Prior to discharge important data elements have to be entered to close the case. In conclusion, we developed a novel mobile app to optimize care for STEMI patients and facilitate electronic extraction of relevant performance metrics to improve allocation of resources and reduction of costs.

Background Workplace stress has been associated with obesity. Diminished body weight has also been anticipated in some contexts. Objective In a cohort of healthcare personnel, morning cortisol was compared to nutritional and metabolic variables, aiming to identify the correlates of such marker. Methods Population n=185, 33.8 ± 9.8 years, 88.1% females, body mass index (BMI) 25.6 ± 4.4 kg/m2, included nurses and other nosocomial professionals, the majority with high social-economic status (75.2%). Participants were stratified according to BMI, fasting blood glucose (FBG) and metabolic syndrome (MS). Fasting plasma cortisol and the Framingham Coronary Risk Score was calculated. Results Mean cortisol was acceptable (19.4 ± 7.9 µg/dL) although with elevation in 21.6%. No correlation with FBG or MS occurred, and nonobese persons (BMI <25) exhibited the highest values (P=0.049). Comparison of the lowest and highest cortisol quartiles confirmed reduced BMI and waist circumference in the former, with unchanged Framingham Coronary Risk Score. Conclusion Cortisol correlated with reduced BMI. Despite low BMI and waist circumference, Framingham Coronary Risk Score was not benefitted, suggesting that exposure to cardiovascular risk continues, besides psychological strain. Initiatives to enhance organizational and staff health are advisable in the hospital environment.
