Highly skilled systems are the master hands and examples in the production line. They meet the quality requirements for highly skilled that knowledge and skill proficient, thoughtful, and creative. The systems that have innovative sense and high-skilled ability are required by not only the modern science and technology revolution, but also the economical and social development of a nation. In high-skilled systems, especially the system of computer with stronger practicality and operability, how to strengthen the cultivation of the ability of innovation and high-skilled is very important. The paper analyzed the connotation of innovative high-skilled systems. Taking the growth mechanism in innovative high-skilled systems as an example, and school-enterprise cooperation and work-integrated learning as starting point, it explores and practices on the training mode. According to the construction of high level productive practice training base, it can provide reference for similar researches of growth mechanism in training innovative high-skilled talents.

This study investigates the suitability of literary and communicative approaches in Pakistani course design, and revealed the practical problems faced by both teachers and students regarding the use of approaches. English serves as a Langue Franca in most countries and is a key to modern science and technology. English Language is used in the country for academic purposes. Official, academic work and documentation are recorded in English in courts, senates, parliament, and universities and is used as a source for Pakistani high-level exams. If a language turns out to be so much indispensible for advancing in both educational and official professions, greater importance must be given to syllabus and course design. The purpose of the study is to provide a textbook that may have both communicative and literary approaches based on the demands and requirements of English in Pakistani territory. Therefore this editorial is an effort to examine the nature of the literary approach in the classrooms of today through the role of communicative approach.

Abstract Background The hallmarks of cancer provide a highly cited and well-used conceptual framework for describing the processes involved in cancer cell development and tumourigenesis. However, methods for translating these high-level concepts into data-level associations between hallmarks and genes (for high throughput analysis), vary widely between studies. The examination of different strategies to associate and map cancer hallmarks reveals significant differences, but also consensus. Results Here we present the results of a comparative analysis of cancer hallmark mapping strategies, based on Gene Ontology and biological pathway annotation, from different studies. By analysing the semantic similarity between annotations, and the resulting gene set overlap, we identify emerging consensus knowledge. In addition, we analyse the differences between hallmark and gene set associations using Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis and enrichment analysis. Conclusions Reaching a community-wide consensus on how to identify cancer hallmark activity from research data would enable more systematic data integration and comparison between studies. These results highlight the current state of the consensus and offer a starting point for further convergence. In addition, we show how a lack of consensus can lead to large differences in the biological interpretation of downstream analyses and discuss the challenges of annotating changing and accumulating biological data, using intermediate knowledge resources that are also changing over time.

Establishment of every urban element in its appropriate position requires advanced technology and science from geographical and climatic point of view. This is accompanied and synchronous with modern culture born by supreme and high level of training and education in the society. In this regard, one of the main objectives of the architectures' union is to establish science and Technology Park with the aim of facilitating and accelerating science and technology transmission from university to the society and country.Tabriz city is considered as one of the most important academic and industrial cities in the country. Establishing science and technology parks can be effective in scientific, economic and social development of the country and province. Employing organic methods in architecture to use natural energies is an effective and useful method and its structure produces less pollution. Using philosophical and introductory issues and views of technology and establishing technology parks, present article proceeds on issues of organic architecture with new approach which is inspired by ants' nest algorithm and presents a new experience of architecture in the form of Science and Technology Park.

PurposeWork-integrated learning (WIL) is a strategy that enhances student learning and employability by engaging students in real-world settings, applications and practices. Through WIL, tertiary education institutions forge partnerships with industry to provide students with access to activities that will contribute to their career-readiness and personal growth. The purpose of the paper is to explore academics perceptions of WIL from non-vocational disciplines, where WIL opportunities are less prevalent.Design/methodology/approachThe study employed a qualitative, case-study methodology to unpack academics' reflections on the question “What does WIL mean to you?” Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 33 subject coordinators across a number of non-vocational degrees at one university in Australia. Open coding and thematic analysis was used to explore qualitative data and identify common themes.FindingsData suggest that academics largely have placement-based understandings of WIL that cause tensions for embedding WIL meaningfully in their courses. Tensions surface when WIL is perceived as a pedagogy that contributes to the neoliberal agenda that sits in conflict with theoretical approaches and that restrict notions of career.Originality/valueAlthough WIL is not relevant in all subjects, these understandings are a useful starting point to introduce WIL meaningfully, in various ways and where appropriate, in order to provide students opportunities for learning and employability development. The paper has implications for faculty, professional learning and institutional strategies concerning WIL for all students.

ABSTRACTMycobacterium tuberculosisand the fast-growing speciesMycobacterium abscessusare two important human pathogens causing persistent pulmonary infections that are difficult to cure and require long treatment times. The emergence of drug-resistantM. tuberculosisstrains and the high level of intrinsic resistance ofM. abscessuscall for novel drug scaffolds that effectively target both pathogens. In this study, we evaluated the activity of bis(pyrrolide-imine) gold(III) macrocycles and chelates, originally designed as DNA intercalators capable of targeting human topoisomerase types I and II (Topo1 and Topo2), againstM. abscessusandM. tuberculosis. We identified a total of 5 noncytotoxic compounds active against both mycobacterial pathogens under replicatingin vitroconditions. We chose one of these hits, compound 14, for detailed analysis due to its potent bactericidal mode of inhibition and scalable synthesis. The clinical relevance of this compound was demonstrated by its ability to inhibit a panel of diverseM. tuberculosisandM. abscessusclinical isolates. Prompted by previous data suggesting that compound 14 may target topoisomerase/gyrase enzymes, we demonstrated that it lacked cross-resistance with fluoroquinolones, which target theM. tuberculosisgyrase.In vitroenzyme assays confirmed the potent activity of compound 14 against bacterial topoisomerase 1A (Topo1) enzymes but not gyrase. Novel scaffolds like compound 14 with potent, selective bactericidal activity againstM. tuberculosisandM. abscessusthat act on validated but underexploited targets like Topo1 represent a promising starting point for the development of novel therapeutics for infections by pathogenic mycobacteria.

In the last decades, production of science and technology as well as science-society relationships started changing rapidly. Research is asked to be more effective, fast, accountable, trans-disciplinary, result-oriented, policy-driven and able to generate benefits for people and firms in the short and middle run. While a strong intensification of science-society relationships is occurring, an increasing number of actors and stakeholders are involved in research production. At the same time, pervasiveness of technology is rendering users an active part in technological development; economic and social interests on science and technology are growing on a global scale; new democratic and ethical issues emerge. Despite the European institutions’ efforts, all those trends and phenomena are occurring in an extremely fragmented way. In this scenario, a fairly balanced and consistent co-evolution between science and society can no longer be taken for granted. This is just the starting point of the following comment section that, through the  Luciano d’Andrea, Sally Wyatt, Erik Aarden, Jos Lejten and Peter Sekloča’s writings, aims to analyse the different aspects and questions around the socialisation of science and technology’s matter.

The article examines the state of the history of science as a discipline and its objectives in the context of its origins and current transformations. The establishment of this discipline and its assumptions about the nature of science together with its goals and structure are briefly discussed. The history of science became a discipline only at the beginning of the second half of the 20th century, and its start is associated with the work of chemist James Conant, a high-level administrator in Manhattan project who was also president of Harvard University and a high-ranking bureaucrat. It was based also on the narrative developed by Alfred North Whitehead, Edwin Burtt, Alexandre Koyré and other historians of science, which claimed modern science was the creator of modernity and a necessary condition for the geopolitical domination of the West. In that understanding, modern science meant science since the time of Galileo and Newton. The author provides a critical analysis of this foundation narrative for the discipline and of its consequences while showing how contemporary history of science has overcome it. The contradiction between modernism and historicism has been resolved in favor of the latter. A key role in this was played by the book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions by Thomas Kuhn, which held the potential to undo the presumed monolithic unity of science by rejecting teleology and introducing incommensurability and discontinuities into the historical process. By rejecting explanation of the knowledge of other times and places in terms of modern science, the discipline faced a radical multiplication of independent types of knowledge. This was facilitated by the reorientation to the study of knowledge practices that took place in the 1980s. As a result, the subject matter of the history of science began to erode, and this launched discussion of the prospects for a transition to a history of knowledge based on the study of practices. The sweep of this change of vision is illustrated by the example of classifying sciences according to both their subject matter and the similarities in their research practices. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of the new discipline along with its prospects and the challenges it faces are discussed.
