The basic mechanical properties of the insulation board in external thermal insulation system are studied in this paper. According to the structure of the board, the relevant tests are designed, which includ the plate bearing capacity, the bond strength, the compressive strength and the flexural strength. The test results show that the security performance of the composite insulation board is high and bonding strength is good, compressive strength is high in the case of meeting the basic technical requirements. Besides, with the increase of the insulation board’s thickness, its flexural strength would increase.What’s more, due to the mesh effect on internal reinforcement, failure process has a certain ductility.

This study was conducted to determine some physical and mechanical properties of high-strength flowable mortar reinforced with different percentages of palm fiber (0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.4, and 1.6% as volumetric fractions). The density, compressive strength, flexural strength, and toughness index were tested to determine the mechanical properties of this mortar. Test results illustrate that the inclusion of this fiber reduces the density of mortar. The use of 0.6% of palm fiber increases the compressive strength and flexural strength by about 15.1%, and 16%, respectively; besides, the toughness index (I5) of the high-strength flowable mortar has been significantly enhanced by the use of 1% and more of palm fiber.


Today’s world is always leads to development in technology as well as the economic growth though sometime these will affect the environment badly. That’s why world environmental commission coined the termed called sustainable development where development takes place without hampering the others’ needs. Concrete industry is rapidly growing industry in India which consumes lots of natural resources during the production of concrete. Here Stone dust is used as a sustainable material in place of sand partially. M25 grade of concrete has been chosen for the experiments. Different mechanical properties of concrete like compressive strength, Split tensile, flexural strength etc. and Microstructural features like SEM, EDX have been included in this study. Compressive Strength and flexural strength test results shown the increase in the strength. Sulphate Resistance Properties have been tested by curing the cubes in the MgSO4 solution and increase in weight has been observed. Similarities are found in the SEM pictures

This work is carried out to investigate the performance of concrete reinforced with plastic fibers obtained locally (bottle waste as fiber). Bottle waste plastic was chosen because it is being thrown after single use and cause environmental problem. One way to recycle wasted bottles plastic is grinded into irregular fiber. Then, it was incorporate with the concrete and tests the performance of the concrete. The study was conducted using cylindrical and rectangular (cube) mold of concrete to investigate the performance of the concrete in term of mechanical properties. In this research, the mechanical properties that were measured are compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and flexural strength. The results revealed that the presence of plastic fiber in concrete will increase the concrete performance, as well as the concrete bond strength is improved and the cracks in the concrete decrease the use of fibers and reduce plastic waste.

Manufactured-sands were divided into eight groups according to the grain size by the use of sieving method and the eight groups sands were made into eight groups dry-mixed mortar. Compressive strength and flexural strength of the eight groups mortar and the bonding strength of the mortar to polystyrene and ceramic tile were investigated in this paper, in order to know the influence of the grain grading of manufactured-sands on the properties of dry-mixed mortar. The test results showed that the compressive strength, flexural strength and the ratio of bending-compressive strength of dry-mixed mortar increased with the decreasing of the content of the finer sands and the increasing of the content of the coarser sands. The bonding strength of the mortar to polystyrene and ceramic tile first increased and then decreased with the decreasing of the content of the finer sands and the increasing of the content of the coarser sands. The results of this study illustrate that the performances of dry-mixed mortars with manufactured-sands of four group and five group are good.

According to the principle that fiber resist crack and cement-based capillary crystalline impermeability, the paper chose the mortar added with polypropylene fiber and SJ capillary crystalline material as the research object. Experiments on mechanical properties, crack resistance and impermeability of mortar were conducted with one material being added to the mortar as well as both materials being added to. The test results indicate that the ratio of compressive strength to flexural strength of mortar could be reduced, the time of cracks occurrence in mortar matrix would be delayed, and the minimum cracking coefficient can amount to 5% on the condition that the two materials are both added to the mortar, moreover, the mortar’s first and second impermeability is significant. Furthermore, the paper also discusses the mechanism of mortar’s crack resistance and impermeability which is mixed with polypropylene fiber and capillary crystalline material.

The present study covers the use of fibre in lightweight foamed concrete (LFC) to produce the lightweight concrete for use in construction of non-load bearing elements. LFC with 600, 1000 and 1400 kg/m3 density were cast and tested. Polypropylene fibres with different percentage were used into LFC and the resulting products were compared to normal LFC. Compressive strength, flexural strength and drying shrinkage tests were carried out to evaluate the mechanical properties up to 180 days. The addition of fibres in LFC showed no contribution on compressive strength but improvement in the flexural and shrinkage test results.

This research aims to shed light on the fire flame effect on some mechanical properties of SIFCON samples, such as compressive strength, flexural strength and modulus of elasticity and comparing the results with CEN design curve and CEB. Higher temperature resistance is one of the most important parameters affecting the durability and service life of the material. This study comprised of casting and testing SIFCON specimens with 6% fiber volume before and after exposure to elevated temperatures. Two fire exposure duration of 1 and2 hours were investigate. In addition to room temperature, Silica fume was used as a partial replacement (10%) by weight of cement. It was found from the results achieved that after exposure to high temperatures, compressive strength, flexural strength and elastic modulus decreased. The drastically reduction of compressive strength took place with increasing temperature.  The residual compressive strength, flexural strength and elastic modulus at 1010 °C were in the range of (58.4 to 80.1%), (81.6 to 78.7%) and (30.4 to 32.8%) respectively. The compressive strength test results of this study together with results obtained by other investigators were compared with CEB strength-reduction curve and that of CEN. It was noticed that the test results agreed with CEN design curve rather than with that of CEB.

High-strength self-compacting concrete (HSSCC) is widely used as an eco-effective structure that is more durable than traditional cement that is more prone to demolitions and damage. One of today’s notable innovations is self-compacting concrete (SCC). The variety of materials and the utilization of siphons encourage the concrete’s use, which is significant. The worries about complex pieces are understandable due to the ease, with which precarious projecting zones are formed. This article presents high-strength self-compacting concrete, including quartz sand (QS) and marble-sludge powder (MSP) used as a partial replacement of fine aggregate (M sand). The substitution impact of QS and MSP on the strength of HSSCC is investigated. Further, V-funnel, L-box, slump flow, J-ring and slump cone are used to investigate the chemical, physical and mechanical properties such as splitting tensile strength, compressive strength, bond strength and flexural strength. The replacement of fine aggregate with 15 % of marble-sludge powder and 45 % of quartz sand (HSSCC concrete) gives an unprecedented outcome in the form of solidity and consistency. The findings show that the HSSCC 9 mix exhibits the compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, flexural strength and, more noteworthy, bond strength of 82.25 MPa, 8.10 MPa, 27.10 MPa and 11.89 MPa, respectively.

Cement-based materials prepared with activated water induced by a magnetic field or electric field represent a possible solution to environmental issues caused by the worldwide utilization of chemical admixtures. In this contribution, electric- and magnetic-activated water have been produced. The workability and mechanical properties of cement mortar prepared with this activated water have been investigated. The results indicate that the pH and absorbance (Abs) values of the water varied as the electric and magnetic field changed, and their values increased significantly, exhibiting improved activity compared with that of the untreated water. In addition, activated water still retains activity within 30 min of the resting time. The fluidity of the cement paste prepared with electric-activated water was significantly larger than that of the untreated paste. However, the level of improvement differed with the worst performance resulting from cement paste prepared with alternating voltage activated water. In terms of mechanical properties, both compressive strength and flexural strength obtained its maximum values at 280 mT with two processing cycles. The compressive strength increased 26% as the curing time increased from 7 days to 28 days and flexural strength increased by 31%. In addition, through the introduction of magnetic-activated water into cement mortar, the mechanical strength can be maintained without losing its workability when the amount of cement is reduced.

This paper studies the influence of hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose (HEMC) on the properties of calcium sulfoaluminate (CSA) cement mortar. In order to explore the applicability of different HEMCs in CSA cement mortars, HEMCs with higher and lower molar substitution (MS)/degree of substitution (DS) and polyacrylamide (PAAm) modification were used. At the same time, two kinds of CSA cements with different contents of ye’elimite were selected. Properties of cement mortar in fresh and hardened states were investigated, including the fluidity, consistency and water-retention rate of fresh mortar and the compressive strength, flexural strength, tensile bond strength and dry shrinkage rate of hardened mortar. The porosity and pore size distribution were also analyzed by mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP). Results show that HEMCs improve the fresh state properties and tensile bond strength of both types of CSA cement mortars. However, the compressive strength of CSA cement mortars is greatly decreased by the addition of HEMCs, and the flexural strength is decreased slightly. The MIP measurement shows that HEMCs increase the amount of micron-level pores and the porosity. The HEMCs with different MS/DS have different effects on the improvement of tensile bond strength in different CSA cement mortars. PAAm modification can improve the tensile bond strength of HEMC-modified CSA cement mortar.
