The present defects of the teaching practice in training centers of engineering in the local engineering colleges and universities are introduced. The construction of ideas, teaching methods and means of reform of engineering training teaching system should be along with the needs of the global economy competition. How to play the full role of the training center of engineering for cultivating the capacity-building of engineering students is a hot topic. The training center of engineering of School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in Anhui Institute of Architecture and Industry was taken as an example to illustrate the teaching practice and explore the teaching reform methods and the countermeasures.

As a new-emerging force of modern manufacturing technology, non-traditional machining plays an important role in cultivating engineering quality, raising innovation ability and innovative consciousness to students. In order to adapt the development of practice teaching of engineering training in higher education, an innovative training mode is explored and implemented to non-traditional machining combined with the actual situation of the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Training Center of Guilin University of Electronic Technology. The results show that the exploration is feasible completely.

Abstract This study investigated what methods professional trainers use in their teaching. Interviews with nine professional trainers in sports dressage were analyzed using a qualitative approach. The results showed that trainers had developed a “good eye” using their prior experiences. The trainers helped the riders solve their problems but did not make clear their observations or reasoning for specific instructions. Thus, trainers could further develop the riders’ own practical knowledge. The role of the horse was not made explicit in most cases, showing that recognition of the horse as a sentient and thinking individual is not built into the current teaching practice. Teaching methods would be improved if trainers encouraged riders to pay more attention to the perspective of the horse, to examine how to interpret and attend to the horse’s reactions, and to reflect on these issues in dialog with them.

When the concept of quality education is continuously popularized and rooted in people’s minds, the practical teaching has undergone major reform. Electrical engineering is a subject with practical and professional spirit, In addition to teaching basic theoretical knowledge. In order to assist students with their application of theories to practice through practical operations, electrical engineering realizes the significance of optimizing and reforming teaching practice. This paper discusses the necessity of practical teaching reform and the construction of teaching system of electrical engineering specialty in colleges and universities, and discusses the path of practical teaching reform of electrical engineering specialty, so as to make advance to the development of electrical engineering major.

Today, with the development of digital equipment and the increased performances of Information and communication technology (ICT), the online laboratory or Lab At Distance (LAD) found an interesting tool in training systems and can also provide enrichment for the conventional laboratory. In this paper, we present the experience of developing a set of LAD performed by the school of engineering École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) in Montreal and three colleges (CEGEP) in Quebec. From this experience, the article highlights both technical and pedagogical strengths. The different choices adopted for LAD are discussed and a preliminary assessment of the operation of this set of LAD is also presented. In addition to the beneficial sharing of facilities between institutions, new opportunities of ICT enrich the laboratory work and give it a new dimension. Visiting a Web site for an industrial application related to laboratory work allows contextualization of this work and gives more meaning to the work requested. The exploration of the technological characteristics of the equipment used can provide additional valuable learning. These new technological possibilities coincide with the emergence of new learning approaches and raise questions about the potential role of laboratory work in the training of engineering students. The techno-pedagogy is currently revolutionizing the way traditional training by bringing the experience of the laboratory in the classroom, at home and in various locations. This also allows the student to be more in touch with the technological reality of the laboratory and even industrial space through virtual tours.

This paper deals with lab design tools and their impact on the learning progression of first-year electrical engineering students. Project-based learning is an innovative domain of acquiring knowledge in engineering education, where the role of experimental setup and use of advanced technology imitates real-world engineering problems. This experimentation induces a desire to learn in newly inducted students and influences their minds to understand the applied content of engineering education thus resulting in improved retention rates in engineering programs. A Likert scale is used to generate statistics which suggest that an intelligent design of engineering lab by choosing advanced learning methodology for freshmen electrical engineering students improves their ability to absorb modern engineering concepts as compared to the classical lab setup.
