At present, the fibers improve the performance that asphalt mixture resistance to water damage is still lack systematical awareness. For the different asphalt types, different fiber types, different fiber content of the asphalt mixture, the Marshall residual stability test and freeze-thaw splitting test are carried out, residual stability MS0 and the split strength ratio TSR are choosed as the measure indicators, the results show that: the addition of fibers and the use of modified asphalt can improve asphalt road performance obviously, modified asphalt is the better choice of improving the performance for mixture resistance to low-temperature water damage, the fiber types sorting for improving effects, whch is asphalt mixture’s performance for resistance to water damage, are obtained, and the optimal content scope of different fiber types are obtained too, research achievement can provide scientific guidance and reference for design and construction of fiber asphalt mixture.

A kind of composite modified asphalt with high elasticity was prepared by SBS and high elasticity agent, and the asphalt mixture with easy compactness was applied. The high temperature, low temperature, water stability and fatigue properties of the mixture were evaluated by laboratory tests. The results show that the optimum content of high elasticity agent is about 6% for SBS modified asphalt. The pavement performance of the high-elasticity modified asphalt compacting mixture was improved to a certain extent. Compared with SBS modified asphalt SMA-13, the dynamic stability was increased by 13.5%. The water stability, low temperature crack resistance and fatigue resistance increased by 10.4%, 59.3% and 173%.

70# and 90# matrix asphalt mixture with MaR were studied through dynamic modulus test, rutting test, freeze-thaw splitting test, bending test to study the applicability of the Modifying agent of rubber plastic compound (MaR) in matrix asphalt mixture.Test results were Compared with SBSI-C modified asphalt mixture. The results indicate that: high-temperature stability of MaR+70# asphalt mixture is as well as SBSI-C modified asphalt mixture, and is bettere than MaR+90# asphalt mixture; water stability of MaR+90# asphalt mixture is bettere than SBSI-C modified asphalt mixture and MaR+70# asphalt mixture; low temperature performance of MaR+90# asphalt mixture is bettere than MaR+70# asphalt mixture, but is worse than modified asphalt mixture SBSI-C ; MaR+70# asphalt mixture can be first used in area of resisting high temperature and rutting, MaR+90# asphalt mixture can be used if the water stability performance and low temperature performance are considered.

This study is focused on the effect of basalt fiber on the road performance of the asphalt mixture. The road performance of asphalt mixture with different dosages of basalt fiber was comprehensively evaluated using Marshall Stability test, the wheel tracking test, the three-point bending beam test and the freezing-thaw splitting test. The road performance of lignin fiber reinforced asphalt mixture and polyester fiber reinforced asphalt mixture also were tested to compare with the road performance of basalt fiber reinforced asphalt mixture. The results showed that basalt fiber can enhance mechanical properties, the low-and high-temperature performance and water sensitivity of the asphalt mixture significantly. Considering the road performance and economic benefits, the appropriate dosage of basalt fiber is about 0.3%. Marshall Stability (MS), dynamic stability (DS), the maximum bending strain and the tensile strength ratio (TSR) of asphalt mixture with 0.3% basalt fiber were increased by 19.6%, 25.5%, 22.2% and 6.0%, respectively. Basalt fiber has certain advantages in improving the low-temperature performance of asphalt mixture by comparison with lignin fiber and polyester fiber.

Adding sulphur dilution asphalt modifier SEAM to asphalt mixture is not only a modifier of asphalt mixture, but also an additive of asphalt mixture. When the modifier is added into the asphalt mixture, the road performance of the asphalt mixture can be improved. This paper studies SEAM modified asphalt mixture the Marshall property index, temperature stability, Water stability and fatigue feature in the Laboratory. On the based of the result of the experiment and analysis, SEAM can improve the high temperature stability, Water stability and fatigue feature. But the low temperature stability can’t improve.

Fiber reinforcement as an available attempt has been proved to be effective in improving the toughness of asphalt concrete and is becoming a new method for highway maintenance. When fiber modified asphalt mixture is used as the surface course of a reconstructive pavement, the interface bonding property between top and lower layers seems to become a crucial factor in the road performance of the long lasting pavement. The primary objective of the research is to study the influence of fiber inclusions on the interfacial shear property of the pavement. With the purpose of discussing the shear strength of the interface between Bonifiber modified asphalt mixture top layer and the normal asphalt mixture layer, the laboratory shear test was developed on MTS-810. Four kinds of double-layered cylindrical specimens were made to simulate the different pavement structures. Test results show that the overlaying with Bonifiber modified asphalt mixture improves not only the general road performance but also the interface property. It is concluded that, the interface property of pavement with fiber reinforced top layer behaves much better than that with normal asphalt concrete one.

A series of laboratory tests on warm-mix AC-13 dense gradation asphalt mixture with 3% EC120 were carried out by the method of identical volume. A comparative analysis of common hot asphalt mixture was performed. The results indicate that the reduction of compaction temperature of warm-mix modified bitumen mixture is 27.1°C with addition of 3% EC120. The road performances of warm-mix asphalt mixture determined by the method of identical volume satisfied the specification. Compared to the common hot asphalt mixture, the warm-mix modified asphalt mixture has excellent high temperature stability, slightly low moisture susceptibility and better low-temperature crack resistance.

This report mainly evaluated the pavement performance of natural asphalt from Albania. Firstly, base asphalts were processed with natural asphalt by “wet method” modification technique to obtain modified asphalt; and mixture are produced with these modified asphalt binders, and then high temperature performance and moisture stability properties are evaluated by some standard methods. Analysis shows that this natural asphalt can remarkably improve the high temperature and moisture stabilities of asphalt mixture, and own cost-effective advantage.
