The chromium nitride thin layers have became more and more popular in the last decade because of their good physical, chemical and mechanical properties. The present study deals the morphological characterization of hard Cr-N and CrAlN thin layers deposited on silicon (100) substrates by physical vapour deposition (PVD). The effect of the annealing temperature on the adherence and the thermal stability of CrN layers are considered. SEM observations and EDS microanalyses were performed. Cr-N films, 1μm thick, were annealed for 1 hour at 600 to 1000°C under flux of nitrogen. These layers presented a good thermal stability at low temperatures. Moreover SEM observations showed that the CrN films had a low adhesion at high temperatures. In addition, after annealing at 700°C for 4 hours, CrAlN coating of 1μm thickness presents a better thermal stability than CrN coating but with lower adherence. The results given by SEM-EDS and XRD are compared.

Supramolecular elastomers were synthesized using vegetable oil materials namely palm acid oil (PAO) and sunflower oil (SFO). The oils were first epoxidized using formic acid and hydrogen peroxide. The epoxidized oils and adipic acid were then reacted to make polyacids, mainly triacid. Finally, diethylenetriamine (DETA) was added to polyacid to yield fatty amide and a polycondensation with urea performed to achieve the desired elastomers. The synthesized materials were characterized by using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA) in order to determine structure, type of bonding and thermal stability. The spectrums revealed that the synthesized fatty amides are contained amide groups that correctly formed from reaction of amine groups of DETA and acid functionality of polyacids. Moreover, the resulted structures showed the formation of multiple hydrogen-bonding in the elastomers. TGA thermograms clearly indicated good thermal stability of the elastomers to 500 °C.

Five different multifunctional nitro octaphenyl silsesquioxane (NPS) were Synthesised and reduction was carried out to obtain amino octaphenyl silsesquioxane(APS). These compounds were characterized with elementary analysis, fourier transform infrared(FTIR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR, 29Si), wide-angle X-ray diffraction(XRD) and thermogravimetry (TG). Experiental results showed that the longer the nitration time, the more nitro connected to the OPS, but not positively, nitro number remained unchanged after five hours. NPS has good thermal stability than corresponding APS under 450°C, and the thermal stability of APS are decrease with the increase of amino number.

ABSTRACTThermal stability of W/WSix/Si (X=1.4, 2.1, 2.5) contact structures has been characterized at annealing temperature up to 900°C. Thermal reaction in these contact structures was strongly affected by the X values of deposited WSix films. The X values were presicely controlled by a novel co-sputter deposition apparatus. After annealing at 900°C, in the samples of X=1.4 and 2.1, the W films were stably maintained. On the other hand, in the sample of X=2.5, the structure changed into the WSi2. 2/Si resulting in the disappearance of the W film. The silicidation of the W film in the sample of X=2.5 was likely due to a diffusion of Si into the W film through the precipitated region of the excess Si in the tungsten silicide film. The W/WSi2.2/Si structure can provide the electrically stable W-Si contact at annealing temperature up to 800°C.

AbstractSeveral inorganic/organic nanocomposites were prepared via solution-blending of cage-like octahexyl-polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (Oh-POSS) with polystyrene (PS) in THF solvent. FTIR and 29Si-NMR were employed to characterize the structures of the nanocomposites. SEM pictures showed that the sample films were smooth and no POSS aggregation was observed when POSS content was lower than 1.0 wt%. TGA and DSC were used to investigate the thermal property. The results showed that the incorporation of nanosized Oh-POSS enhanced the thermal stability of PS with low POSS content. When 1.0 wt% of Oh-POSS was incorporated into PS matrix, the Tg and Td increased by 7.7 °C and 8.2 °C, respectively. However, higher POSS contents (>1.0 wt%) would deteriorate the thermal property of the nanocomposites due to the severe congregation of POSS..

The cloves are antiseptic, antiparasitic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, anesthetic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, tonic, carminative, anti-ulcer, antithrombotic, antioxidant and anti-cancerous. They contain eugenol, tannins and flavonoids that also help to strengthen the vein wall. This paper presents the obtaining and the characterization of a polyurethane drug delivery system which can be used for the transmembrane transport of eugenol in oral therapies. The products were analyzed by pH and solubility measurements, thermal decomposition and zetasizer tests and they were applied on mice skin to evaluate their harmfulness. The results suggest that were obtained neutral pH structures with low solubility and a good thermal stability, with sizes between 241 and 289 nm and no toxicity effect was found in the case of studied samples.

Studies of degradation have verified that the decomposition of some quaternary ammonium salts can begin to be significant at the temperature of about 180 ° C and like most thermoplastics are processed at least around this temperature, the thermal stability of the salt in clay should always be considered. Some salts are more stable than others, being necessary to study the degradation mechanisms of each case. In this work, four quaternary ammonium salts were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TG). The results of DSC and TG showed that the salts based chloride (Cl-) anion begin to degrade at similar temperatures, while the salt based bromide (Br-) anion degrades at higher temperature. Subsequently, a quaternary ammonium salt was chosen to be used in organoclays, depending on its chemical structure and its thermal behavior.

To overcome the risk of electrolyte leakage and the shortcoming of higher impedance at high frequencies for the conventional aluminum electrolytic capacitor impregnated with electrolyte solutions, solid aluminum electrolytic capacitor employing conducting polyaniline (PANI) as a counter electrode was developed. The as-fabricated solid capacitors have very low impedances at high frequencies and excellent thermal stability. The superior performances can be ascribed to high conductivity and good thermal stability of the camphorsulfonic acid (CSA)-dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (DBSA) co-doped PANI.
