Poly (vinyl) chloride (PVC)-based proton conducting polymer electrolytes have been prepared by solution cast technique. The effect of addition of ethylene carbonate (EC) as the plasticizer on the structural property of the prepared proton conducting polymer electrolyte system was investigated by X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) while its effect on electrical property was investigated by Impedance Spectroscopy (IS). With addition of plasticizer, the crystalline nature of the polymer was found to be disrupted as revealed by X-Ray diffraction. FTIR showed interactions between Cl-and H+which was accounted by shifts in the bands of Cl-. Ionic conductivity was found to be 3.06 x 10-5S cm-1at room temperature (300 K)for the films containing 95 wt. % (PVC -NH4CF3SO3) –5 wt. % EC.

This paper presents on ionic conductivity of MG30-PEMA blend solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) prepared by solution cast technique. The analysis has shown that conductivity increases with the increasing salt composition. It is observed via x-ray diffraction analysis that the crystallinity of the sample decreased with the amount of salt composition as expected It is also observed that the dielectric value increases with increasing amount of LiCF3SO3 in the sample. Surface morphology revealed that ion aggregation occurred after optimum conductivity which has lowered the conductivity.

Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) comprising of a blend of Poly (ethyl methacrylate) (PEMA) and Epoxidized natural rubber-50 (ENR50) as polymer host and lithium triflate (LiCF3SO3) as dopant were prepared by solution cast technique. The blend based polymer electrolytes have a fixed PEMA/ENR50 ratio of 70:30 by wt. % as at this ratio ENR-50 imparted stable mechanical properties to the otherwise fragile PEMA. The incorporation of LiCF3SO3into the blend is found to increase the conductivity of PEMA/ENR50. The highest conductivity achieved was 3.64 x 10-5Scm-1at 40wt. % LiCF3SO3. The structure of the samples was investigated by X-ray diffraction and the results show that the highest conducting sample is the most amorphous.

This paper reports on the conductivity-temperature studies of gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) based on 49% poly (methyl methacrylate) grafted-natural rubber (MG49) doped with lithium triflate salt (LiTf) and plasticized with ethylene carbonate (EC). The GPE films are prepared by solution cast technique. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies reveal the polymer electrolyte systems are amorphous. AC impedance spectroscopy is carried out in the temperature range between 303 and 373 K. The magnitudes of conductivity observed are strongly dependent on salt concentration and temperature. The high ionic conductivity at elevated temperatures of GPE is attributed to the high ionic mobility of charge carriers. The ionic migration is seen to follow the VTF behavior and approaches to Arrhenius rule at high and low at temperature. Ionic conductivity relaxation appears to be a characteristic of the ionic polarization and the modulus formalism studies confirmed the GPEs in the present investigation are ionic conductors.

This work represents thermal study of PEO-based polymer electrolyte films that were prepared by the solution cast technique. The melting temperature Tm, glass transition temperature Tg and degree of crystallinity χc were measured by diffraction scanning calorimetry (DSC). Thermogravimetric (TGA) was used to determine the initial and final degradation temperatures. The structural was also performed to characterize the vibrational wavelength and phase characteristic (crystalline/amorphous). While the morphological study was emphasized to examine the features appearance for pure polymer electrolyte system as well as after addition salt, plasticizer and filler. The zirconium oxide particles were measured after the milling process by using the transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and the particles obtained in the range of 9 – 54 nanometer size.

Oxcarbazepine has low solubility and low oral bioavailability, so it’s a challenge to formulate suitable dosage form. In this present investigation, to improve the dissolution rate and solubility, skimmed milk is used as a carrier. Physical mixers were prepared using various drugs to carrier ratio and spray drying technology was used to develop solid dispersion with the carrier. Various techniques were used to characterize the solid dispersion immediately after they were made which includes differential scanning calorimetry, scanning electron microscopy, fourier transform infra- red spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and in-vitro dissolution profiles. The differential scanning calorimetry thermograms of raw drug indicated of its anhydrous crystalline nature. In thermograms of solid dispersion, the characteristic peak was absent suggesting the change from crystalline nature to amorphous form. X-ray diffraction confirmed those results. X-ray diffraction results of raw drug showed highly intense peak characteristic of its crystalline nature where solid dispersion showed less intense, more diffused peak indicating the change in crystalline form. Fourier transforms infra-red spectroscopy studies showed there was no interaction between drug and carrier. Scanning electron microscopy support the amorphous nature of mixer. The whole formulation showed distinct enhancement in the drug release behavior and solubility. The optimum oxcarbazepine to skimmed milk ratio 1:3 enhances the in-vitro drug release by 3.5 fold and also show distinct increase in solubility. It was concluded that for improvement of solubility of poorly water soluble oxcarbazepine, skimmed milk powder as a carrier can be utilize very well.

ABSTRACTWe prepared colossal magnetoresistive La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 thin films on the MgO, SrTiO3 and LaAlO3 single crystal substrates using KrF excimer pulsed laser ablation technique. The structural and electrical properties of the La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 thin films which were strained by the lattice mismatch are reported. The in-plane lattice mismatch between the La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 and MgO, SrTiO3 and LaAlO3 substrates are -7.8 %, -0.5 % and +2.3 %, respectively. The X-ray diffraction spectra of the films exhibited c-axis orientation. In the case of the La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 / LaAlO3 thin films with thickness over 100 nm, the divided (00l) peaks were observed. The surface morphology and transport property of the strongly stressed La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 / LaAlO3 were different from those of La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 / MgO and La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 / SrTiO3thin films.
