This paper briefly introduces the nano-bio related-research being carried out in our research group. The work is based on a fusion of neuroscience and bio-molecular science with nanotechnology. This interdisciplinary research is extremely promising for creating a new technology and developing a new knowledge. Nano-bio research could be a key to understanding the signal processing mechanism that lies behind memory and the learning system in our brain. Developing a novel biocompatible device that runs with biological functions is one of our research goals.

The concept of hidden correlation of noise signals is introduced. The existence of a hidden correlation between narrowband noise signals isolated simultaneously from broadband band-limited noise is theoretically proved. A method for estimating the latent correlation of narrowband noise signals has been developed and experimentally investigated. As a result of the experiment, where a time frag ent of band-limited noise, the basis of which is shot noise, is used as the studied signal, it is established: when applying the Pearson criterion, there is practically no correlation between the signal at the Central frequency and the sum of signals at mirror frequencies; when applying the proposed method for the analysis of the same signals, a strong hidden correlation is found. The proposed method is useful for researchers, engineers and metrologists engaged in digital signal processing, as well as developers of measuring instruments using a new technology for isolating a useful signal from noise – the method of mirror noise images.

UNSTRUCTURED The word blockchain elicits thoughts of cryptocurrency much of the time, which does disservice to this disruptive new technology. Agreed, bitcoin launched in 2011 was the first large scale implementation of blockchain technology. Also, Bitcoin’s success has triggered the establishment of nearly 1000 new cryptocurrencies. This again lead to the delusion that the only application of blockchain technology is for the creation of cryptocurrency. However, the blockchain technology is capable of a lot more than just cryptocurrency creation and may support such things as transactions that require personal identification, peer review, elections and other types of democratic decision-making and audit trails. Blockchain exists with real world implementations beyond cryptocurrencies and these solutions deliver powerful benefits to healthcare organizations, bankers, retailers and consumers among others. One of the areas where blockchain technology can be used effectively is healthcare industry. Proper application of this technology in healthcare will not only save billions of money but also will contribute to the growth in research. This review paper briefly defines blockchain and deals in detail the applications of blockchain in various areas particularly in healthcare industry.

AbstractBiological individuality is a notoriously thorny topic for biologists and philosophers of biology. In this paper we argue that biological individuality presents multiple, interconnected questions for biologists and philosophers that together form a problem agenda. Using a case study of an interdisciplinary research group in ecology, behavioral and evolutionary biology, we claim that a debate on biological individuality that seeks to account for diverse practices in the biological sciences should be broadened to include and give prominence to questions about uniqueness and temporality. We show that broadening the problem agenda of biological individuality draws attention to underrecognized philosophical issues and discussions and thereby organizes and enriches the existing debate.

Abstract Different disciplines have different research traditions, including the use of discipline-specific research methods. However, adopting methods from other disciplines can provide fresh perspectives and lead to new insights. Community-based participatory research (CBPR) originated in the population and public health field, but it has potential to be applied in a broader range of disciplines. This article explains the fundamental characteristics of CBPR, explores some misconceptions associated with this method, and describes some potential barriers to its application. Finally, using the example of a machine translation literacy project, the article walks readers through this example of how CBPR was applied to a translation- related research project and evaluates the success of this method for the project.

In this chapter the authors discuss two central themes: the changing nature of literate activity brought about by Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and suggestions for how educators could respond to this guided by principles of authentic learning. The access many young people have to ICT has resulted in new forms of literacy as they manipulate technology, using this new knowledge to assist the process of meaning making. Each new technology brings with it navigational concepts, space to negotiate, new genres and a range of modalities, all of which need to be interpreted. ICTs have the potential to reshape literate practices in classrooms as students create, collect, store and use knowledge as they connect and collaborate with people and resources across the world. What is crucial though, is that the nexus between technology and literacy within classrooms is conceptualised through meaningful, relevant and authentic connections with curricula.

Improving the artifacts a knowledge worker uses and how he or she exercises his or her knowledge is part of being professional in a knowledge society. In a knowledge society there is a continuous structuring and re-structuring, construction and re-construction and learning and re-learning occurring due to implementing new information and communication technology. But many of these projects fail in spite of management spending large amounts of money on them. This paper creates an awareness of how an artefact, such as a new knowledge management system, becomes a driving force behind expanding the knowledge of an anesthesist and has implications for continuous learning among a group of employees at the anesthesia and intensive care unit. In addition, implementing new technology is an underestimated opportunity for learning. This paper suggests that a significant educational effort is taking place in society channelled through IT-projects, even if they fail.

The government's work from home policy because of COVID-19 Pandemic has had an impact on changing the learning system. This policy necessitates that students use technology to carry out learning activities. This causes the individual to experience difficulties. The digitization of learning activities has an impact on mental health problems such as technostress. Technostress refers to a modern adaptation disease caused by an inability to cope with new technology. The level of technostress of each individual varies depending on their religious orientation and level of psychological capital (PsyCap). Based on these two internal factors, this study examines how religious orientation and PsyCap influence technostress levels as observed among business students in Indonesia. This study provides empirical evidence suggesting that intrinsic religious orientation and PsyCap can encourage individuals to endure challenges and rising demand, thereby reducing the stress caused by technology. These outcomes assist policymakers to implement programs oriented towards individuals' PsyCap.

Organizations are facing many challenges to remain relevant in the face of new technology, emerging markets, and changing consumer behaviors. Many organizations look to become learning organizations with knowledge management strategies to leverage their knowledge assets and continuously innovate their strategies and products. However, organizations struggle to achieve success with knowledge management because their organizational culture does not support knowledge-sharing and must be adapted for this new behavior. Knowledge must flow through the organization, and so, therefore, these necessary behaviors must work within the existing corporate culture. Observations from a case study at a software company are discussed, and a new knowledge management model, the Knowledge Management Triangle, is introduced. The Knowledge Management Triangle is a simple model to explain and implement knowledge management within organizations and is customizable to work within the organization's culture to ensure the new knowledge management behaviors are appropriately adopted.

The rapid developments of emerging technologies, including Big Data, Cloud Computing, and Internet of Things, are causing many societies to struggle whilst trying to keep up with, and adopt them. As a consequence, serious concerns and issues are being raised. The threat to personal information privacy is one of these issues. This review paper briefly introduces the aforementioned technologies and explores concepts related to concerns on information privacy and disclosure in the U.A.E. in the context of these technologies. In addition, related research themes that could be interesting to explore are identified, with a focus on the local environment.

Terrestrial photogrammetry using acquired images by a hand-held camera has been used for several years to map crash scene geometry. More recently, photogrammetric reconstruction from acquired images by an unmanned aerial system (UAS) has been proposed for crash scene mapping. Over the past year, the Tippecanoe County Sherriff’s Office has participated in three workshops with Purdue University, applied these skills in two training mass casualty exercises, and independently mapped five crash scenes in June and July 2018. This paper briefly reviews the training sessions, mass casualty exercises, and five crash scenes mapped by Tippecanoe County Sherriff’s deputies. The paper presents a comparison of both traditional ground-based and UAS-based photogrammetric mapping for two crashes in July 2018. The UAS procedures described in this paper are quite similar to current ground-based photogrammetric mapping. The UAS-based photogrammetric mapping derived measurements from eight identified crash scene markers and key features were found to be within 0.29 ft of field tape measurements, or with 0.4% or less relative error and a root mean squared error of 0.12 ft. We believe this paper will become important documentation in the literature that will provide public safety agencies with performance data to support their deliberation in investing in this new technology.
