English has been a subject in the university classroom since the 1980s. This subject helps produce more excellent talents in economics, politics, and culture who are proficient in English language in China, and enable our country to better integrate with the global economy. At the same time, the relationship between our country and the international community has become closer. However, the social environment is constantly developing and changing. The traditional teaching methods can be said to be ineffective and associated with many shortcomings. Traditional teaching methods were used in the English lessons. Under this teaching mode, students were the passive subjects on the receiving end of what have been taught. The teacher was always talking in the classroom and the students were listening. This teaching style also affects the effectiveness of learning. Compared with traditional teaching, interactive teaching method has its unique advantages. It is a new teaching mode and under this teaching mode, students can actively communicate with teachers in the classroom to complete learning tasks. The initiative to perform self-directed learning is also greatly improved, and the students’ English proficiency can be improved.

Over the last decade, medical education changed from traditional teaching methods to telematic and networking scholar and e-learning approach. The objective of the present systematic review was to evaluate the effectiveness and teachers/student’s acceptability of e-learning applied to the field of orthodontics and paediatric dentistry. A database search of the literature was conducted on PubMed and Embase databases from January 2005 to May 2021. A total of 172 articles were identified by the electronic search, while a total of 32 papers were selected for qualitative analysis. Overall, 19 articles investigated the effectiveness of e-learning, and no difference of acceptability was reported between e-learning and traditional methods for a wide part of the articles selected. A total of 25 papers provided a satisfaction questionnaire for learners and all were positive in their attitude towards e-learning. The results showed that e-learning is an effective method of instruction, complementing the traditional teaching methods, and learners had a positive attitude and perception. The evidence of the present study reported a high level of acceptability and knowledge level of e-learning techniques, compared to frontal lecture methods, in the fields of orthodontics and paediatric dentistry.

Traditional teaching methods using a blackboard, PowerPoint presentations and resources available through the Internet still play a leading role in university education. The popularity of smartphones and the use of We-Media and other information communication technologies have introduced the possibility of new teaching methods. This new technology combined with a constant endeavor at institutions of higher education to find more efficient teaching and learning tools brings us to a new teaching mode named "smartphone+". This represents an integration of traditional teaching tools and smartphones and can be realized using currently-available smartphone-based APPs. A practical application of the smartphone+ teaching mode has been implemented using the Rain Classroom APP in a surveying course for undergraduates majoring in Geomatics at Lanzhou Jiaotong University. The experiment has shown that the Rain Classroom-based smartphone+ teaching mode is an efficient method of conveying subject matter and is a valuable supplement to traditional teaching modes. It has a number of advantages over traditional teaching methods including online quizzes and tests, real time assessments, fast interaction, before-class preview and after-class online assessments.

Economic globalization, integration of the world, and wide application and advanced development of modern information technology (MIT) demand high requirements for talents. Traditional teaching methods and means cannot satisfy the requirements of students for real language communication environment and language output. Consequently, students exhibit low intercultural communication ability and fail to satisfy the ultimate goal of foreign language teaching. A novel method to cultivate students’ intercultural communication competence (ICC) in college English based on MIT was proposed in this study. The method was used to examine students’ intercultural sensitivity (IS) and ICC. The concept of ICC was redefined. A model of ICC in college English based on MIT and a teaching mode for cultivating students’ ICC in college English based on MIT were constructed. The proposed teaching mode was applied to a teaching experiment, and interviews and questionnaires were used to estimate students’ IS and ICC. Results demonstrate that this mode is superior to traditional teaching methods, surpasses the limitations of time and space, realizes global information sharing, and integrates the language and cultural learning among students organically. The constructed teaching mode meets the needs and demands of most students and provides a resource-rich learning platform where students can improve their IS and ICC.

Objective. To assess the face, content, and construct validity of the Voxel-Man TempoSurg Virtual Reality simulator. Participants and Methods. 74 ear, nose, and throat (ENT) surgeons participated. They were assigned to one of two groups according to their level of expertise: the expert group (n=16) and the novice group (n=58). The participants performed four temporal bone dissection tasks on the simulator. Performances were assessed by a global score and then compared to assess the construct validity of the simulator. Finally, the expert group assessed the face and content validity by means of a five-point Likert-type scale. Results. experienced surgeons performed better (p<.01) and faster (p<.001) than the novices. However, the groups did not differ in terms of bone volume removed (p=.11) or number of injuries (p=.37). 93.7% of experienced surgeons stated they would recommend this simulator for anatomical learning. Most (87.5%) also thought that it could be integrated into surgical training. Conclusion. The Voxel-Man TempoSurg Virtual Reality simulator constitutes an interesting complementary tool to traditional teaching methods for training in otologic surgery.
