Introduction of finely disperse mineral additives of natural and man-made origin to Portland cement in order to improve the indicators of its physical-mechanical properties and partially replace clinker is one of the urgent directions for solving the resource and energy saving problems, as well as environmental protection problems in the production and application of building materials. The expansion of the raw material base of mineral additives can be achieved by using calcined polymineral clays, which are common in many regions of the Russian Federation, including the Republic of Mordovia. The article presents the results of research on the effects of calcination temperature and time of thermally activated polymineral clays of the Republic of Mordovia on their physical-chemical efficiency in cement systems. According to the study results of dehydration processes of clay minerals using the synchronous thermal analysis, it is established that the optimum calcination temperature for clays of Nikitsky and Staroshaigovsky deposits located in the area of 500–800 °C. This temperature range corresponds to the processes of the initial crystal structure restructuring of clay minerals of the kaolinite and illite groups, associated with their dehydroxylation, which contributes to the transition of these phases to the active form. The optimization of calcination parameters of polymineral clays based on the study results of influence of their additives on the mixed cement binder activity confirmed the thermal analysis data. It was found that the production of mineral additives with the highest values of the activity index is facilitated by 2-hour heat treatment of clays at 700 °C. At the specified calcination parameters, the replacement of 10% of Portland cement with the additive of thermally activated Nikitsky clay allows achieving the mixed binder activity that exceeds by 3 % the same indicator of mixed binder based on Portland cement and high-quality metakaolin.

The article considers the study results of composition, microstructure and physical-chemical properties of the quaternary clays of the Prikhankayskaya depression in district of the lake Khanka (Primorye) on the example of air-dry samples of geological borehole 45-b in the range of 18–62 m. The objective of research was to obtain new information about the properties of widespread clay sediments in this area using geologic-lithological materials and laboratory data. The schematic geologic-lithological column was composed with the selection of various zones in the quaternary clay sediments section and the border with sediments of the Neogene System. The methodological scheme of laboratory studies of clays was proposed. This scheme includes the determination of chemical and microelement composition, clay minerals, contents of carbonates, water-soluble salts, mobile forms of aluminum oxide, humus, as well as microstructural parameters (method «Microstructure») and some physical-chemical properties. Geochemical coefficients (Kz, CIA, CIW, ICV) determined the degree of chemical maturity of clays and confirmed the results of palynological studies reflecting the fluctuations of the climatic conditions of their formation. For the group of toxic microelements for the first time the special indicator (Zc) was calculated. Which was the criterion for a degree of pollution of the clay sediments section. Clay minerals of the quaternary clays are represented by smectite and hydromica. The clear change in the mineral association was found when passing to the Neogene sediments (kaolinite prevails). The method «Microstructure» revealed the aggregated type of clays microstructure, the domination of the particles of coarse dust fraction among the primary (free) particles and the almost complete absence of the particles of fine-grained sand fraction, the participation of various fractions in the composition of aggregates. The variants of the formation of certain types of aggregates (on sizes) in the fluviolacustrine «khankayskiy» clays are presented. Solid part density, water resistance (soaking time), sedimentation volume, plasticity, relative swelling (samples-pastes) were determined using standard methods for clays. By special methods, the cation exchange capacity was measured and the calculated values of the plasticity index were obtained from forecasting formulas using the yield limit. The proposed methodological scheme of complex laboratory studies of clay sediments can be recommended for problematic geologic-lithological and engineering-geological sections.

For effective operation of mining enterprises, including mines of ferrous metallurgy, supply of quality binding components is necessary to make hardening mixtures for packing of goave, aroused at underground development of hard mineral deposits. Results of the study of compositions based on ash-cement, nepheline, belit-aluminates and lime binding component made of mining and metallurgical production wastes presented. Application of vibro-, mechanical- and electrochemical activation methods to obtain filling mixtures from local low-quality raw materials, as well as activation of binding components were analyzed. A model to evaluate efficiency of binding additives presented. It was shown that decrease of cement consumption by addition of binding components of mineral origin requires perfection of mining processes, first of all, grinding and activation. It was proved, that additions of electric filters ash, nephelines, belit-aluminates and lime, obtained by utilization of current and old tailings to the basic binding component – portland cement – makes it possible to obtain hardening filling mixtures, having high enough strength to apply them at goave packing. Application of the study results makes it perspective for depressed mining and related enterprises to survive under conditions of the forming market.

ABSTRACT Earthworms are known to improve soil fertility by altering the physicochemical properties of soil. However, the changes in properties of biogenic aggregates (produced by earthworms) in regions with different vegetation covers and soils of Inceptisol toposequence in the semi-arid region have not been studied. The objective of this work was to determine the variations of the physical, chemical, and mineralogical attributes and organic fractions of biogenic aggregates of earthworms under different vegetation covers and compare them to an Inceptisol toposequence in the semi-arid region of Pernambuco State, Brazil. For this study, four Inceptisol soil profiles were selected. The sampled points were P1-upper; P2-middle third; P3-middle third; and P4-lower slope, and the soils were collected at a depth of 0-0.20 m. The biogenic aggregates were found in the P3 samples collected from three areas with different vegetation covers: an area with mesquite tree vegetation (Prosopis juliflora [Sw] D.C.); an area with neem tree vegetation (Azadirachta indica A. Juss); and an area with forage palm and mesquite tree vegetation (Opuntia sp. and Nopalea sp.). Results indicate that the biogenic aggregates were in the form of irregular blocks with a size greater than 40 mm. As compared to Inceptisol samples, these aggregates tended to select particles of smaller diameter and exhibited higher concentrations of clay minerals. The chemical and organic fraction analysis revealed that the aggregates exhibited higher Ca2+, total organic carbon (TOC), labile and humic substances, regardless of the vegetation cover. The mineralogical analysis revealed that the action of earthworms did not change the quantity or type of clay minerals.

About 3.5 billion tons of mining waste is generated annually in Russia. The task of their utilization is urgent in connection with the accumulation of large-tonnage waste of simultaneously mined rocks, enrichment waste and crushing screenings. The problem can be solved by using these wastes as mineral additives to artificial cement-based conglomerates. According to the study results it was found, that the compressive strength of hardened cement paste increased during all hardening periods, when finely dispersed mining wastes were introduced. In the early stages of hardening, limestone had a predominant effect. Introduction of diopside led to the greatest hardening together with the hardening period increase. Linear and nonlinear mathematical models, describing the dependence of cement strength on the type and amount of mineral additives, were constructed. The highest strength values of hardened cement paste, both after hardening under normal conditions for 28 days, and after heat and moisture treatment could be achieved with 7% dispersed diopside. At the same time, the hardening effect (increase in the strength of cement by 35–40%) was retained when 1/3 of the diopside in the complex additive was replaced by dispersed limestone. An increase in the content of limestone in the complex additive composition over 1/3 was impractical.

Rabies control programs include preventive immunization of farm and domestic animals, catching stray dogs and cats, oral vaccination of wild animals, and measures to control the number of the wildlife. Rabies in ruminants is a deadlock in the rabies epizootic situation. Rabies in ruminant animals is the result of the epizootic process in wild animals of the area, even if the process is not recorded. The more than doubled decrease in the number of cattle the European part of Russia saw in recent years resulted in a decrease in cases of rabies in these animals. Vaccination forms the animal group that prevents the further spread of infection, and further reduces morbidity. The paper presents the data on the rabies epizootic situation on the territory of Tatarstan in 2018, preventive measures against the epizootic situation among domestic, wild and farm animals. Also, it presents laboratory results of blood 51 DOI: 10.31563/1684-7628-2019-51-3-48-52 Вестник БГАУ / Vestnik BSAU, 2019, № 3 serum samples in the cattle vaccinated against rabies in some areas of Tatarstan and border areas of Bashkortostan. The study results indicate that both regions take effective measures against rabies. The incidence of rabies in farm animals is minimized due to a large number of vaccinated animals, and preventive measures taken against rabies among wild animals. Revaccination of cattle is needed in a number of areas to ensure better protection of animals.
