Purpose: The purpose of this article is to estimate the potential economic value of the 2010 Soccer World Cup for South Africa. Problem investigated: The Soccer World Cup (SWC) is regarded as the largest sporting event to be hosted and South Africa is investing billions of Rand in the hosting thereof. Based on this the question that comes to mind is, what is the potential economic value of such an event? Previous research attempts to determine the economic value were limited in their focus on what should be included when economic modelling of events is conducted. Most of these studies were done by consultants on behalf of various government departments and consequently, the results of these attempts are criticised for their over-inflating and overestimations by various other researchers. Methodology: The literature review identified many aspects that need to be taken into account when modelling the economic impact of such an event together with aspects identified in the literature review. Lessons from the 2002 Korea/Japan and 2006 Germany Soccer World Cups were used as premise for our estimations. In this article, Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) modelling is used to estimate the potential economic value. Findings: The results showed that the 2010 Soccer World Cup would in all probability have positive impacts on the economy of the country in terms of GDP growth and employment, with possible negative effects that include higher inflation and net export losses. Value of research: The value of this research lies in the approach that was followed firstly, by introducing lessons learned from previous World Cups as well as aspects not taken into consideration previously in economic modelling and secondly, by using CGE modelling in determining the economic value. Conclusion: The hosting of the 2010 Soccer World Cup is a major achievement not only for South Africa, but also for the rest of Africa, especially from a marketing point of view. From an economic point of view, this study shows positive results. However, compared to other studies conducted on the 2010 SWC, the findings are more conservative. The latter is supported by the results of a similar study conducted one year after the 2006 Soccer World Cup in Germany supporting the notion that various variables have to be taken into account when economic modelling for hallmark events is done.

Entrepreneurship has been deliberated as multidimensional and multidisciplinary study. From the economic point of view entrepreneurship is the central force for economic development for any nation. Scholars and policy makers now have started to see entrepreneurship as panacea for inclusive growth. Entrepreneurships are most widely popular and discussed area. Study on small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) has been maturing for the last decade as it has been regarded as significant player for the social development along with the economic development. In Bangladesh, SMEs account for a large proportion of the total establishments in various sectors. Considering the importance of the SME sector in Bangladesh, this study intends to explore and sketch-out the landscape of current SME setting in Bangladesh. With this aim the study has extensively carried out literature review, observed and understood the secondary data obtained from various organizations, and finally presented a policy driven recommendation (micro and macro level) which would enable to develop the SME sector in a developing country like Bangladesh.

Ladders are the ascent system most commonly used to scale up a building, due to the low initial costs compared to other ascent equipment. The insufficiency of this approach is shown in an economic comparison of ladders, stair towers, and scaffoldings with integrated ascent support. Based on empirical studies, cost data and the current state of scientific knowledge, the ascent support with the highest economic value can be determined by considering safety, cost, time, stress, physical stress and strain, and frequency of use. A survey evaluated vertical transport routes, the ascent systems ladders, stair towers, and scaffoldings with integrated ladders. The findings indicate that from an economic point of view, ladders should be used only on construction sites where less than 54 ascents were performed each day. This leads to the assumption that for typical construction sites, with at least 6 ascents per person per day and a site usage for a period longer than one week, the operation of ladders is uneconomical.

This study aims to examine the signs of digitalization’s/Industry 4.0’s impact on food safety in form of a literature review. It is intended to awake the interest of both the academic sphere and internal (e.g., managers) and external (e.g., costumers, state) stakeholders of food producers and also processing companies. The main research questions focus on the methodology of tracing and tracking, which both have significant importance in the area of quality assurance especially in the food industry. From an economic point of view, we are now in the age of Industry 4.0, which has a major impact on the whole economy. Industry 4.0 solutions significantly are realized in the automation of data transfer. Excellent food safety conditions can be supported by real-time transmission, analysis, and interpretation of data characterizing products and processes. This study is an introductory part of the literature review of my doctoral research. The research goals include the exploration of Industry 4.0 and practices given by digitalization within different sectors of the food industry. Furthermore, establishing relationships between the measurability of food safety criteria and the toolbox of digitization and regulatory requirements are expected to be the results of the research process. The current study aims to introduce and interpret the basics of the connection between food safety and the toolbox of Industry 4.0. In general, the research may contribute both to the scientific area and the arena of practice.

Today administrative mechanisms of ecological management are primary in Russia. Their inefficiency is defined by absence of advancing influence and the due control. These mechanisms, as a rule, start to operate when negative influence is already made and harm to the environment is done. The work urgency is caused by the sharpness of the water legislation and regulation problems in Russia, as this sphere is the crossroads of all industrial, agricultural interests and also providing good life conditions for the population. The urgency of ecological-economic modelling is caused by rapid development of ecological management systems in the last years. That is stimulated by the aspiration of market participants to raise management efficiency of the enterprises, to lower power and resources consumption, to raise the quality of goods and services, to create more comfortable working conditions, to provide safety of the personnel and, as a result, to improve the reputation and to raise theircompetitive advantages. The purpose of the work is to draw up and to deicide a problem of ecological-economic optimization within the limits of linear programming for a “water user – water body” system. Such a linear programming problem is similar to the model of investment projects choice. The problem’s solution is based on searching the best, from the economic point of view, sewage treat system to maintain maximum allowable discharge of substances into the water body.

The development of novel predictors of immunotherapy efficacy is a clinically important and rapidly developing area. The currently existing predictors (PD-L1, MSI tumor status) do not always guarantee a positive treatment result. In addition, performing these analyses is characterized by the complexity, high cost, and long execution period. Thus, identifying potential new biomarkers in peripheral blood, which would be more accurate and accessible from a technical and economic point of view, is of great interest and is the object of active research. The article is a literature review of the currently available studies written worldwide on the topic of potential markers of the immunotherapy effectiveness. The most interesting and promising studies with intermediate conclusions are presented. We highlighted a number of clinical studies on the use of various assays and platforms for monitoring peripheral immune status. These studies point to the usefulness of these biomarkers as potential prognostic indicators.

This study analyses the participation of sponsors and their success in a major world sports event, the Rugby World Cup 1995. Both the sponsors as well as a sample of spectators are interviewed. Sponsors are asked why they sponsored this event, their objectives, communications programme and their evaluation of the sponsorship. Spectators are asked if they can recall the sponsors of this event and whether their buying behaviour has changed as a result. The results indicate that most sponsors reached their objectives, but from the spectator point of view, there were some mixed results. A literature review of sponsorship in sport is undertaken, as well as some guidelines proposed for those organizations considering sponsoring a major sports event.

European health systems face important challenges related to the sustainability of health care, both from an economic point of view and in relation to the quality of health services provided in terms of continuous improvement of effectiveness, safety, clinical and organisational appropriateness. The ability of EU Member States to continue to provide high quality care to all, whatever their biological and socio-cultural characteristics, depends on their health systems becoming more sustainable. Therefore, there is a need to strengthen health promotion and disease prevention, to invest in primary care systems, to move health care out of the hospital and into more accessible ambulatory and domestic care, and to develop integrated care practices. Starting from these premises, the aim of this paper is to present a narrative overview of the main aspects related to Gender Medicine and its evolution over time. Our critical overview is, therefore, aimed at providing a general picture of what has been developed by health systems on Gender Medicine, with a particular focus on the relationship between social sustainability and Gender Medicine. To achieve our goal, we carry out a systematic literature review in order to understand what has been developed so far in the area and to highlight the possible evolution of studies in the field and to strengthen the awareness of the importance of encouraging prevention, training and information programs shared with hospitals, institutions, health professionals and patient associations. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is among the first studies that investigate through a systematic literature review the phenomenon of gender medicine, especially with reference to the sustainability of the health care system. Although our analysis needs further investigation, due to the fact that the topic is not yet fully mature, our initial and preliminary results underline the importance of further investigating gender diversity and assessing the possibility of promoting a clinical pathway to personalised treatment. In fact, only through a “gender medicine” approach it is possible to guarantee a real right to health and an effective personalisation of treatments, thus reinforcing the concept of patient focussed care and contributing to the sustainability of the whole health system.
