Background: Many of the reproductive tract infections and sexually transmitted infections (RTI/STIs) are preventable and curable. Kerala is one of the highest literate states in India, but women in Kerala had very low knowledge in sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS. The objective of the present study was to assess the level of awareness on RTI/STI and HIV/AIDS among women in Kerala with inter district variations on awareness among women in RTI/STI and HIV/AIDS. Another objective of the study was to find out the association between socio economic characteristics and awareness on RTI/STI and HIV/AIDS.Methods: Data for the present analysis comes from the district level household and facility survey-3 2007-08 (DLHS-3) and district level household and facility survey-4 (DLHS-4), 2015–16. DLHS is a nationally representative household survey, primarily conducted to monitor and evaluate the implementation of reproductive and child health program across the districts of India. To assess the level of awareness on RTI/STI and HIV/AIDS among women in Kerala with inter district variations on awareness among women in RTI/STI and HIV/AIDS data of DLHS-3 and DLHS-4 were used for analysis and to find out the association between socio economic characteristics and awareness on RTI/STI and HIV/AIDS, data of DLHS were used. Results: Only 48% of women in Kerala had heard of RTI/STI in Kerala, but 75.8% of the women had heard about HIV/AIDS. Knowledge on RTI/STI and HIV/AIDS among women in all the districts in Kerala had fallen from the DLHS-3 to DLHS-4.Conclusions: Decentralized field level interaction of health workers with IEC programs in both rural and urban areas regarding STIs/RTIs and HIV/AIDS should be strengthened along with effective mass media activities.

Kata kunci: deteksi dini, kanker serviks, IVA.AbstractIn Indonesia, the number of new HIV positive cases reported in 2015 was 30,935 cases, down from the previous year. The Dasawisma Seruni is an association of mothers in the Balecatur region who have various professional characteristics, including health workers, education staff, and 70% are IRTs. The type of work that is owned if it is considered is the type of work that is susceptible to HIV / AIDS transmission and exposure to HIV / AIDS is closely related to Cervical Cancer namely inter-city truck drivers, ship sailors, workers in Arabia. Balecatur is an area in Sleman Regency which is close to  Wates Street, making it a risky area with access to indirect sex workers. The purpose of the activity was the transfer of information and screening of Cervical Cancer through IVA examination in housewives in the Dasawisma area of Ngaran, Balecatur. The method of carrying out activities is by screening mothers in the Dasawisma Seruni Balecatur , because screening is mainly done in groups vulnerable to HIV exposure because it is known that this group will be more susceptible to exposure to HPV causing cervical cancer. Screening was carried out on 15 charismatic mothers who had done anamnesa and vtal sign examination first. The IbM IVA screening activity results from 15 mothers with 13 normal results and 2 mothers needing referral to the puskesmas. As a follow-up effort, these activities require cross-sectoral work, both village officials in the community and with the health care provider sector to be able to carry out similar activities on a regular basis so that they can guarantee the quality of public health in general.

Abstract Background- COPD is the second leading contributor to the disease burden of India. The current COPD burden cannot be managed effectively just through a physician based approach. Community Health Workers(CHWs) can play an effective role in making COPD care accessible and effective. Findings of an assessment of a training program for CHWs on COPD are reported here.Methods- 90 CHWs were exposed to a series of 5 training sessions designed and administered jointly by a team of public health experts and physiotherapists in the year 2017-18. Topics covered were basic clinical aspects of COPD, monitoring a patient with COPD and basic aspects of pulmonary rehabilitation. The assessment comprised 12 MCQs and short questions, 7 video exercises, 2 case vignettes and 5 skill assessments through Objectively Structured Clinical Examination(OSCE). Mean percentage scores were calculated for each domain of assessment to make it comparable. Results 70 CHWs with a mean age of 42.2 years completed all the trainings and underwent the assessment. Mean percentage score(SD) for knowledge was 62%(16.3). In OSCE assessment, scores were best in sputum clearance technique demonstration(92.1%) and the least in dyspnoea relieving positions(59.2%). The CHWs had difficulties in identifying signs of respiratory distress(score – 55.1%). No statistically significant association was observed between performance scores and their sociodemographic profile. Conclusion The results were encouraging and the program may be pilot tested in a Government setting.

Abstract Background: Community Health Workers (CHWs) have long been integrated in the delivery of HIV care, in middle- and low-income countries. However, less is known about CHW integration into HIV care teams in the United States (US). To date, US based CHW integration studies have studies explored integration in the context of primary care and patient-centered medical homes. There is a need for research related to strategies that promote the successful integration of CHWs into HIV care delivery systems. In 2016, the Health Resources and Services Administration HIV/AIDS Bureau launched a three-year initiative to provide training, technical assistance and evaluation for Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) recipient sites to integrate CHWs into their multidisciplinary care teams, and in turn strengthen their capacity to reach communities of color and reduce HIV inequities. Methods: Ten RWHAP sites were selected from across eight states. The multi-site program evaluation included a process evaluation guided by RE-AIM to understand how the organizations integrated CHWs into their care teams. Site team members participated in group interviews to walk-the-process during early implementation and following the program period. Directed content analysis was employed to examine program implementation. Codes developed using implementation strategies outlined in the Expert Recommendations for Implementing Change project were applied to group interviews (n=20). Findings: Implementation strategies most frequently described by sites were associated with organizational-level adaptations in order to integrate the CHW into the HIV care team. These included revising, defining, and differentiating professional roles and changing organizational policies. Strategies used for implementation, such as network weaving, supervision, and promoting adaptability, were second most commonly cited strategies, followed by training and TA strategies. Conclusions: Wrapped up in the implementation experience of the sites there were some underlying issues that pose challenges for health care organizations. Organizational policies and the ability to adapt proved significant in facilitating CHW implementation. The integration of the CHW role may present an occasion for health care delivery organizations to reassess policies that may unintentionally marginalize communities and both limit career opportunities and patient engagement.

ABSTRACTAccording to the risk factors as a result of injecting drug use (IDU) were second highest, after the heterosexual and homo-bisexual. In IDUs face two risks for contracting HIV / AIDS, from the use of unsterilized needles and performed together or alternately with other IDUs and also through sexual intercourse, especially that done with more than one partner without using a condom. Methadone maintenance treatment program (PTRM) is included in the Harm Reduction program – This is a program of harm reduction drug use in preventing transmission of HIV / AIDS. This research is quantitative with correlational design, sampling using the technique across sectional the total population 50 person IDUs of injecting drug users in the city of Cirebon -use structured questionnaires technique. From the 50 IDUs who were respondents in this research note that 68% did not use PTRM services. It is because most IDUs still can not stop using injection drugs and have not been willing to switch to PTRM. Results of univariate analysis to determine the level of knowledge of IDUs about PTRM 88% have a good category, the attitude of the respondents 80% have category support PTRM, family attitudes 50% have category support PTRM, attitudes of peers 72% have a category does not support the utilizations PTRM, attitude of health workers 66% category does not support PTRM, and the availability of facilities and health facilities 52% support in PTRM services. For the bivariate analysis showed that the attitude of IDUs to program substitution therapy methadone-related measures the utilization of PTRM, whereas knowledge factors, family attitudes, attitudes of peers, attitude of health workers, and the availability of facilities. Then knowledge of IDUs about PTRM shows no relationship with the actions the utilization of PTRM , And based on multivariate analysis known that the action the utilization of PTRM is influenced by the family attitudes were supportive of the utilizations of Methadone maintenance treatment program (PTRM).Keywords: drug, injection, PTRM, HIV/AIDS

Collaboration between traditional and biomedically trained health workers is regarded as key in HIV/AIDS control. However, few studies have focused on exploring ways of enhancing this collaboration. Using a pre- and postintervention questionnaire, the authors assessed changes in attitudes to and practices of collaboration among 19 biomedical and 28 traditional health care providers following a 12-month dialogue-building intervention in Ndola, Zambia. The intervention consisted of peer group discussions, interactive group discussions, training sessions, and peer-influenced networking. The results show that although both groups of providers had fairly positive attitudes toward each other before the intervention, further improvements in attitudes were observed after the intervention. Referrals between the two sectors and cross visits increased. However, some attitudes to collaboration became more negative and cautious after the intervention. Dialogue-building interventions involving traditional and biomedical providers are not only feasible but also complex. Intersectoral collaboration needs time and coordination between all relevant actors in the community.
