Nano nhũ tương (nanoemulsion) trên nền tinh dầu trích ly từ vỏ quả cam sành đã được tổng hợp thành công bằng phương pháp rung siêu âm kết hợp khuấy cơ học. Thành phần hóa học trong mẫu tinh dầu cam được xác định bằng phương pháp sắc ký khí ghép khối phổ (GC-MS). Phân bố kích thước hạt nano nhũ tương được khảo sát bằng phương pháp tán xạ ánh sáng động học (DLS). Các yếu tố kỹ thuật tổng hợp ảnh hưởng đến kích thước hạt nano nhũ tương cũng được khảo sát một cách chi tiết, như tỷ lệ hỗn hợp các chất hoạt động bề mặt gồm Tween 80 và Span 80, thể tích tinh dầu cam và ảnh hưởng của thể tích nước. Các mẫu nano nhũ tương cũng được khảo sát khả năng kháng khuẩn E. coli bằng phương pháp phương pháp khuếch tán đĩa thạch. Kết quả nghiên cứu chỉ ra rằng, được các mẫu nano nhũ tương tổng hợp được có kích thước nano trong khoảng từ 60 - 120 nm và khi kết hợp với nano bạc mẫu nano nhũ tương có khả năng kháng khuẩn E. coli vượt trội hơn so với nano nhũ tương từ tinh dầu cam tinh khiết.

Hiperurisemia adalah keadaan dimana terjadi peningkatan kadar asam urat dalam darah diatas normal. Tanaman kenikir (Cosmos caudatus) merupakan tanaman yang banyak dijumpai di lingkungan sekitar, serta tanaman yang sudah tidak asing lagi dan telah banyak dikonsumsi sebagai sayuran. Salah satu kandungan dalam kenikir adalah senyawa golongan flavonoid. Pada penelitian ini mikroemulsi ekstrak kenikir digunakan untuk menurunkan kadar asam urat pada tikus yang diinduksi hati ayam. Mikroemulsi dibuat dengan menggunakan virgin coconut oil (VCO) sebagai fase minyak, Tween 80 dan Span 80 sebagai surfaktan dan gliserin sebagai kosurfaktan. Penelitian menggunakan 15 ekor tikus putih jantan galur wistar yang diinduksi jus hati ayam. Tikus dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok, yaitu kelompok kontrol negatif mikroemulsi placebo, kontrol positif mikroemulsi Allopurinol 3,6 mg/200 g BB tikus, serta kelompok perlakuan mikroemulsi daun kenikir  10 mg/200 g BB tikus yang diberikan secara peroral. Pengukuran kadar asam urat dilakukan pada hari ke-0 (kadar awal), hari ke-7 (kadar setelah induksi) dan hari ke-13(kadar setelah perlakuan). Persen penurunan kadar asam urat dalam darah dianalisis secara statistika dengan taraf kepercayaan 95%. Hasil uji statistika menyatakan ada perbedaan antara kelompok kontrol negatif dan positif dengan kelompok perlakuan mikroemulsi daun kenikir memiliki nilai signifikansi 0,000. Sehingga mikroemulsi daun kenikir dapat menurunkan kadar urisemia tikus yang diinduksi ekstrak hati ayam namun memiliki kemampuan yang tidak sebaik mikroemulsi allopurinol. Kata Kunci : Mikroemulsi, Kenikir (Cosmos Caudatus), Hiperurisemia, Ekstrak Hati Ayam, Allopurinol.

Abstract Suppositories with cocoa butter containing dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) without and with the addition of Span 80 and Tween 80 as surfactants with low and high HLB values were prepared. The physical properties and the drug content of all prepared suppositories were in accordance with the pharmacopoeial requirements. The release study tests in three dissolution media such as water, lactic acid solution at pH 4.2 and phosphate buffer at pH 7.4 were carried out. In acidic and alkalic media only about 10% and 27% of DHEA were released, respectively. The addition of Span 80 to the suppository mass did not improve the release process, but the addition of Tween 80 caused the increase in the amount of DHEA released in the acidic medium to about 35%. The data showed that rectal administration of suppositories with DHEA based on cocoa butter caused about 30% availability and after vaginal administration, only topical activity can be expected. By the addition of Tween 80 to the suppository mass availability of DHEA of about 35% from vaginal suppositories can be achieved.

Tumbuh-tumbuhan yang berasal dari Indonesia memiliki banyak potensi sebagai bahan dasar produk kosmetika seperti produk antiaging. Sediaan antiaging adalah produk yang bermanfaat untuk menghambat proses kerusakan akibat bertambahnya usia pada kulit. Pengembangan dari formula berbagai sediaan anti aging yang berasal dari ekstrak tumbuhan telah banyak dilakukan, setiap formula pada jenis sediaan yang berbeda dievaluasi untuk mendapat formula terbaik yang memiliki karakteristik yang paling stabil dalam waktu penyimpanan tertentu. Oleh karena itu, pada review artikel ini, berbagai formulasi dan evaluasi pada sediaan krim, gel dan masker peel off antiaging dari ekstrak tumbuhan dikaji lebih lanjut untuk mendapatkan formula paling stabil dengan menggunakan  9 jurnal untuk membandingkan hasil formulasi dan evaluasi  dan 27 pustaka sebagai kajian teori. Hasil review menunjukan formula terbaik adalah formula krim yang menggunakan tween 80 dan span 80 dengan konsentrasi 5,11gr dan 0,25gr, formula masker peel off yang mengandung PVA 12% dan HPMC 2% dan formula gel yang menggunakan Na CMC 2% . Kata Kunci : Antiaging, Masker peel-off, krim, gel

A gene coding for GH5 endoglucanase exploited from metagnomic DNA data of bacteria in Vietnamese goats’ rumen was modularity structure including a catalytic module, a fibronectin-3 like module and an X module. The recombinant enzyme was sucessfully expressed in E. coli and purified.  To study the effect of some metal ions and chemicals on enzyme activity, in this study, we used some tools including Swiss-Prot, ProFunc, COFACTOR for prediction of enzyme structure and ligands interaction. The obtained results indicated that the most similar structure with enzyme had two conserved residues (Asp-190 và Asp-192) linked with Mn2+ within a radius of ~ 3.5 Å from the center of ion Mn2+ and enzyme molecule contained a disulphide bond. Experimental results for essessment of the effect of some metal ions (Ca2 +, Mn2 +, Mg2+, Ni2+, K+, Co2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Fe3+) at the final concentration of 10 mM and of six common chemicals including SDS (1%), urea (1 µM), 2-mercaptoethanol (1 µM), EDTA (1 µM), tween 80 (1mM), triton X-100 (1 µM) showed that only Mn2+ increased enzyme activity slightly at concentration of 10 mM and two times at the concentration of 40 mM Mn2+. The Mn2+ has been identified as a specific binding agent may increase the stability and activity of endoglucanase GH5.

Curcumin (diferuloylmethane) is a natural polyphenolic compound with potent anti-inflammatory, anticancer and antioxidant activities. However, its bioavailability is low as it is poorly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. Microemulsions offer the potential to improve the solubility and bioavailability of bioactive compounds; the present work investigated the topical delivery potential of microemulsion gel loaded with curcumas. Curcumin microemulsion was prepared by spontaneous emul­sification method using oil (Oleic acid), surfactant:cosurfactant (Smix) (Ethanol and Tween 80, Span 80 and n Butanol) and water. The optimized formulations of microemulsions were subjected to thermodynamic stability tests. After stability study, stable formulation was characterized for droplet size, pH determination, centrifugation, % drug content in microemulsion, zeta potential and vesicle size measurement and then microemulsion gel were prepared and characterized for spreadability, measurement of viscosity, drug content, In-vitro diffusion, in-vitro release data. Tween 80, Span 80 was selected as surfactant, ethanol, n Butanol as co surfactant and Oleic acid as oil component based on solubility study. The optimized formulation contained Curcumin (10 mg). The in vitro drug release from curcumin microemulsion gel was found to be considerably higher in comparison to that of the pure drug. The in-vitro diffusion of microemulsion gel was significantly good. Based on this study, it can be concluded the solubility and permeability of curcumin can be increased by formulating into microemulsion gel. <p>Virgin coconut oil (VCO) is high quality coconut oil and categorized as the healthiest oil and functional foods. Based on these benefits, the development of a VCO in emulsion product might increase the human consumption of coconut oil because consumers dislike the only taste of pure VCO. The aim of this study was to develop the water compatible form of VCO through nano-emulsification. The effect of different types and amounts of surfactants (Tween 80 and Span 80) on the physio-chemical characteristic of emulsion containing VCO was investigated. VCO based emulsions were prepared with the aid of Ultra-Turrax homogenizer. Emulsions were developed by adding and mixing VCO with surfactants. The ratio of Tween 80 and Span 80 used were 0:10, 2.5:7.5, 5:5, 7.5:2.5, and 10:0. The droplet size of nanoemulsions consisting of Tween 80:Span 80 (0:10, 2.5:7.5, 5:5, 7.5:2.5, and 10:0) were 1.343, 0.606, 0.829, 1.439, and 2.506µm, respectively. Based on the TEM analysis and polydispersity index (PDI) &gt;0.5 showed the oil droplets are in not uniform shape, indicating a unstable emulsion. VCO emulsion with ratio Tween 80:Span 80 (0:10) obtained a homogeneous emulsion (stable) compare than that of others and w/o type emulsion. The stability of emulsion is evaluated by turbidity measurement using UV-VIS spectrophotometer with wavelength 502 nm. A combination of  treatments (ambient condition, thermal treatmeant (40°C)), and centrifuge) of VCO emulsion has resulted on thermal treat, the turbidity measured from the emulsion was higher than the other emulsion, reflecting the presence of the smaller droplets in this emulsion.</p>
