The purpose of this research explained how Problem Based Learning (PBL) designed in teaching and learning English for Vocational School students in Indonesia. A PBL was used for overcoming critical thinking skill in teaching English at vocational school. The sample consisted of tenth grade of vocational school students who were recruited purposively. The research methodology used qualitative and qualitative method. Interview was used to get data about instructional and students’ needs. Questionnaire was used to obtain expert validation during teaching and learning process, and a test was used to obtain the effectiveness. The results of expert validation showed that the design of this learning strategy was good and can be used in learning English. It was effective in English as Foreign Language teaching strategy for vocational school in Blega of Bangkalan. Thus, it could be implemented in the teaching and learning English for vocational school students in enhancing students’ critical thinking.

Learning Math needs stages which is in line with mental development as well as cognitive aspect. The point of view in this implication through learning math is to encourage awareness, produce questions, able to oppose, able to predict, appreciate to the own valuable invention, encourage students to find out math stucture and design, and encourage to think critically. Moreover, students are encouraged to analize with their assumption with credible sources, find out whether the sources are credible or not, identify and evaluate, try to implement some strategies to make the correct decision based on available assessment. One of learning stages which is offered is active learning strategy. One of  the application is QSH (Question Student Have) strategy. With this method, the achievement and improvement of  Mathematical critical thinking of vocational school students. Furthermore, students can easily solve their problems in (a) simplifying square root, (b) deciding sinus, cosinus, and Tangen angles, and (c) phytagoras concept.

This study focused on students’ skill in performing a speech and had conducted based on the problem. The students think performing a speech is the difficult thing, the students think there are problems appear when the students perform a speech in front of the people, suddenly forgetting the script, getting anxious, and getting blank. The researcher considered to conduct this study when doing observation at MAN 2 Parepare since the students showed fair competence in performing a speech. The objective of the study is to give some abilities and knowledge in this case Contextual Teaching and Learning that focused in Problem-based. The study applied quasi-experimental design, with two groups namely experimental class and control class. The populations of the study were the twelfth grade students at MAN 2 Parepare where the total numbers were 84 students. The samples of the study were consisted of 39 students. The result showed that the students’ skill in performing a speech of the twelfth grade students of MAN 2 Parepare could be improved through Problem-Based Learning Strategy. In performing s speech, the speakers need to be brave, except having some abilities in performing a speech.

To produce competitive students that ready to face the trend of language learning in English as a foreign language, especially speaking skills, teachers should be ready to develop good planning in the teaching process. It can be in the form of strategies that can motivate students in the learning process. Moreover, in teaching elementary school students, teachers should be more creative to encourage students’ motivation in speaking by using attractive teaching media which involves physical activity because young learners usually only have a short attention span. By using teaching media, students will learn a language in such attractive and fun ways. Thus, the researchers want to see the use of Fun Fishing in teaching speaking at one of the Elementary Schools in Lampung to encourage students in learning English. This research used a qualitative method since it disclosed how to implement Fun Fishing media in an Elementary School in Lampung. As a result, the students were divided into four groups consisted of 2-3 members and learned English which involved physical activity. To sum up, using this media in learning English can motivate students to speak in English and make teaching and learning become more fun because they did physical activity.

Advertisement has a big influence in our life as it shows everywhere each day through magazines, newspapers, radio, and even television. The advertisers use writing, visual images, speech, or music to promote their product. The creative and persuasive use of the multimodality supports them to promote the product. One of the attractive targets to promote their product is teenagers which are identified as people ages 12 to 17. This makes the study of multimodality in advertisement for students, mainly TV commercials, becomes important to be conducted at school. Stimulating students’ critical thinking to become aware of persuasive strategies through multimodality in TV commercial is needed. This study is focusing on the analysis of multimodality namely language, visual image, and music illustration used in TV commercials and its use to stimulate the junior high school students’ critical thinking at English as Foreign Language (EFL) classroom. The implication of this research is to analyze TV commercials using Multimodal Analysis and its use in stimulating students’ critical thinking, to become aware of Advertisement’s persuasive intention to promote their product.

Competency test material is an integral part of an assessment in learning process. What is to be measured in learning and the availability of instrument. The purpose of the study is to analyze the validity of competency test material, the reliability of the test material, and to determine the effectiveness of competency test material. This study employed research and development (R & D) method. The product developed in this study was the daily make up competency test material validated by using expert validation, and has been tested on students of the beauty program in vocational high school in May 2018. The validity of the product was achieved by using validity test, reliability by reliability test and effectiveness of competency test material using normalized-gain test analysis. The results of the study on the development of daily makeup competency test materials for vocational school students in beauty program showed that there were 3 aspects of assessments: knowledge, attitudes and skills. The effectiveness of knowledge competency test material was 20%; attitude 35%; and skill 85%. The testing material was proven to be able to assess students effectively and objectively.

The study was report the findings of an only post-test control group research design and aims to analyze the influence of problem-based learning approach, school level, and students' prior mathematical ability to student's mathematics critical thinking ability. The research subjects were 140 grade ten senior high school students coming from excellent and moderate school level. The research instruments a set of mathematical critical thinking ability test, and the data were analyzed by using two ways ANOVA and t-test. The research found that the problem-based learning approach has significant impact to the ability of students' mathematics critical thinking in terms of school level and students' prior mathematical abilities. Furthermore. This research also found that there is no interaction between learning approach and school level, and learning approach and students' prior mathematics ability to students' mathematics critical thinking ability.Keywords: problem-based learning, mathematical critical thinking ability
