Quang Hanh coal mine is currently operating at two areas with 11 longwalls having the annual production of 1.5 million tonnes. In recent years, the mine has used 4 conjugate fan stations for air ventilation. To assess the quality of ventilation operation at the Quang Hanh coal mine, the paper surveyed the ventilation quality at longwall faces, roadway faces, ventilation works and main fans. The results show that the ventilation at longwall and roadway faces basically satisfies the requirements. However, in some areas, the fresh air has not been sufficiently supplied, the temparature and humidity are high, the air leakage is serious, and the total intake air lacks an amount of 26.4 m3/s (8%). Based on these the findings, the paper the proposes proper solutions to the air ventilation system at the Quang Hanh coal mine in the near future.

Low speech privacy in shared and private offices in one of the early generation of a “green” building resulted in occupants' dissatisfaction. This problem is experienced in Liu institute with a natural-ventilation system. Such a system requires low air-flow resistance which is achieved by large openings which will result in noise transmission between various spaces within the building. The poor acoustical quality in this building resulted in occupants' noise complaints which were further investigated by way of relevant acoustical measurements. CATT-Acoustic software was utilized to modify the acoustical quality of the building without any disturbance to the occupants. The optimized design of the transfer box above the office door was selected based on CATT-Acoustic predictions. The acoustical measurements were conducted after installation of the transfer box above the office door. The measurements' results agreed with the predictions which led to improved speech privacy to an acceptable level between the office and the corridor in Liu Institute. More work should be done to improve the acoustical quality of natural-ventilated building to conform to ANSI standards.1The results of this study strongly support including acoustics in “green” building designs with natural ventilation to avoid users' complaints.

In the near future, it is expected that the prevalence of illnesses related to the increasing life expectancies and quality of life, such as neurodegenerative diseases and cardiovascular diseases related to metabolic disorders, will soar to unprecedented levels, leading to high socioeconomic costs. To address this rising threat, natural products are emerging as a novel strategy for the prevention and therapy of these ages- and lifestyle-related diseases, thanks to their high marketability and few side effects. In this patent review, we summarize selected patents for food supplements, functional and fortified foods, filed from 2016 to 2019, categorizing them based on the biological activity of their components.

This article reports a study on the effectiveness of WhatsApp-based spiritual posts in promoting connectedness and adjustment among ever-single heterosexual couples in nonmarital cohabitation in four global cities. In comparison with trivia posts, the spiritual posts had greater impact and were more effective for Christian couples, middle class, highly qualified, and professionals-salaried cohabitants. This was in comparison with Hindu–Buddhist–Sikh dyads, upper class, with college degree, and entrepreneurs. However, cohabitation duration, initial cohabitation experience with other partners, having children/cohabitation dependents, and near future marriage plans were not significant predictors. Gender also did not significantly moderate spiritual intervention responses as proposed in the previous research. Couple intervention outcomes were mutually interdependent and intervention compliance in terms of number of posts read and do-it-yourself exercises posted were robust predictors of intervention success. With some subgroup-specific refinements, WhatsApp-based spiritual posts would be an effective spiritually sensitive social work intervention for improving relationship quality of nonmarital cohabitants.

AimsTo evaluate concentrations of airborne bacteria in university laboratories, hospital diagnostic laboratories, and a biowaste site in Seoul, Korea. To measure total airborne bacteria (TAB), the authors assessed sampling site, type of ventilation system, weather and detection of Gram-negative bacteria (GNB), indoors and outdoors.MethodAn Andersen one-stage sampler (Quick Take 30; SKC Inc) was used to sample air at a flow rate of 28.3 l/min for 5 min on nutrient medium in Petri dishes located on the impactor. A total of 236 samples (TAB, 109 indoor and nine outdoor; GNB, 109 indoor and nine outdoor) were collected three times in each spot from the 11 facilities to compare airborne bacteria concentrations.ResultsTAB concentrations ranged from undetectable to 3451 CFU/m3 (mean 384 CFU/m3), and GNB concentrations from undetectable to 394 CFU/m3 (mean 17 CFU/m3). TAB concentrations were high in window-ventilated facilities and facilities in which GNB were detected; concentrations were also high when it was rainy (all p values <0.05). TAB concentrations correlated significantly with GNB (r=0.548, p<0.01), number of bacteria species (r=0.351, p<0.01) and temperature (r=0.297, p<0.01). The presence of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC), the number of TAB species and the detection of GNB affect TAB concentrations in laboratories.ConclusionsIt is recommended that special attention be given to regular control of indoor environments to improve the air quality of university and hospital laboratories.

The paper addresses the importance of the role of women in Intelligence and National Security with the specific purpose to highlight the quality of female contribution in all different domains. The world is changing and in this change, Intelligence risks being left behind as never before. An epic evolution and change are underway that will upset ways of being and ways of thinking. All this not suddenly and all this without realizing it if not after the fact. The world is changing, women “are gain the upper hand” taking over also numerically and it is not realized that a change must happen in the field of Intelligence with a space left to women, not because they are women but because of their abilities. In all domains, from strategic to an operational one. Blindness to change that many Agencies are having. And those who are making changes often do so because they are obliged by the rules but not by evaluating the concrete capability of individuals. Two factors risk being explosive if no action is taken. The paper highlights the physiological and psychological contribution of the female component in the National Security and Intelligence work, and why diversity is scientifically important to successfully conduct operational and strategic tasks. It also describes the existing lack of models, how to enlarge the interest of young girls to join the Intelligence Community, and a look into the near future regarding the training and the recruitment processes with specific regards to women.

The aim of this paper is to present the results of measurements, on the quality of internal and external environment, carried out during the cruise of the tall ship STS Fryderyk Chopin. The cruise took place between 16th and 30th September 2017 as part of the scientific seminar of the Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) on the Wave, addressed to students of the WTU. After leaving the port of Edinburgh, crossing the North Sea, the Danish straits, stops in Copenhagen and Kołobrzeg, the tall ship reached Szczecin after two weeks. The measurements carried out on the deck included the temperature and relative humidity of the indoor air in three cabins and the men’s bathroom. In two cabins, the CO2 concentration was measured additionally. The outdoor temperature, relative humidity and concentration of PM 1.0, PM 2.5 and PM 10 were also measured. The obtained results allowed to assess the quality of the internal environment in accordance with the standards and to analyze the effectiveness of the mechanical ventilation system. Measurements of particulate matter have shown significant differences between outdoor air quality in the open sea and in ports or near major shipping routes. It turned out that the impact of emissions from passing ships using diesel engines is clearly visible.

Indoor air quality (IAQ) management in public spaces is assuming a remarkable importance. Busy environments, like airport terminals, are currently regarded as possible hotspots and IAQ is a crucial element for passengers and staff protection, as well as a key aspect of airport passenger experience. A one-month monitoring period has been performed on IAQ in the airport of Bologna (Italy), as prototypal example of large regional airport. Four strategic areas within the airport have been equipped with electronic monitoring platforms, including different contaminants and two microclimatic sensors. Data suggest that daily variation in IAQ parameters typically follow the activity pattern of the different environments under study (i.e., passengers’ flows) for gaseous contaminants, where particulate matter counts oscillate in a definite range, with a significant role played by ventilation system. Gaseous contaminants show a correlation between indoor and outdoor concentrations, mainly due to airside activities. Micro-climatic comfort parameters have been tested to match with standards for commercial environments. As results appears in line with typical households IAQ values, the current air ventilation system appears to be adequate. Nevertheless, an integrated air management system, based on real-time monitoring, would lead to optimization and improvement in environmental and economical sustainability.

The field measurements of airtightness in Estonian detached and apartment buildings conducted between2003 – 2017 were combined into a large dataset for further analysis. The buildings were classified basedon building structure, number of storeys, year of construction, energy classification and compactnessfactors. A subset with all wooden buildings (313 in total) was statistically analysed to determine theaverage (median) air leakage rates at 50 Pa and tested (Kruskal-Wallis test with post-hoc Conovertest) for significant differences within the grouping factors. As expected, the median air leakage (q50)of older buildings between 10.7 and 13.9 m3/(hm2) has decreased to 1.1 m3/(hm2) after the minimumrequirements for energy efficiency have taken effect. A more detailed analysis on newer buildings showedthat quality of the workmanship combining systematic measurement routines as well as prefabrication,yields significantly lower median air leakages compared to on-site construction. The buildings with betterenergy classification targets also achieved lower median air leakages compared to buildings designedto meet minimum requirements. Further analysis showed significant differences between buildingswith lightweight timber construction and those with log construction. This can be due to fact that theairtightness has been predominantly measured in prefabricated buildings compared to on-site buildingtechnology. Surprisingly, the analysis showed no significant difference between buildings with a differentcompactness factor or a different number of storeys. For use in energy calculations, the base values ofair leakage rates for each group are calculated and presented accounting for variation of measurements.

In this paper, will be presented actual research of the intelligent channel allocation. The intelligent channel allocation is based on combination of fuzzy logic method and game theory attributes to increase quality of link in network. The channel allocations will become an important phenomenon in different types of networks such as 5G technology, wireless networks (IEEE 802.11xx), Z-Wave, LoRa, 3G, 4G, etc. In the near future, new network technologies, Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Cities will need to have intelligent channel allocation to prevent interference on the channels used for data transfer. These networks along with IoT are considered as promising technology, that interconnects different types of networks into one fully functional network. The aim of this paper is to present the concept of a methods for channel allocation in wireless networks, where channels work as communication medium based on IEEE 802.11xx technology. The simulations prove, that proposed method is able to provide lower interference, improve data rates and increase quality of links.
