In pervasive computing, the area of contextawareness is considered as an important technology and also plays a important role in the area of healthcare environments. In this paper we propose a system for elderly people signs monitoring and critical health conditions which is sends to the caregivers to identify the daily activities by using internet of things (IoT) this can be done in real-time. For example the elderly people who are not well in daily activities like current health status is “normal” or “critical” and the caregivers can give the early suggestions to the people who are in nearby. We have build a fuzzy logic from the beginning of data acquisition, processing of the data namely filtering , aggregating it into contextual information and reasoning to identify the elderly people health condition. Variety of connected devices can modify the remote characteristic, real-time monitoring, measuring and transmitting numerous body health parameters for making the decision and medication. The goal of this paper is to introduce the approach Context Aware Smart Home Caregivers System (CASHCS) to identify the normal and abnormal conditions of the people health status so that doctor can cure the problems in early stage without any complication. So this can be used to build a framework for context-aware healthcare applications.

Aging is one of the embryonic problems in Bangladesh and this has been gradually increasing with its far-reaching consequences. Elderly can develop new and complicating health problems. In most cases the diseases are chronic and complex. The structures were designed to investigate the health status, depression, and function of the daily living of the older men and women in the Sylhet region of Bangladesh. The data were collected using stratified sampling. We have used cross-sectional methods to analyze the data and performed a chi-square test to test the association and a then bivariate and multivariable logistic regression model was used to evaluate the major risk factors of CVD. In this study, 229 elderly people were considered aged from 60 to 60+ years-old face to face personal interviews. Among them 16.6% elderly are suffering in depression. According to residence, the condition of health is good in the ethnic group (21.9%) and this situation is worse in the rural group (97.5%). In addition, people who have depression were 0.087 times or 91.3% (OR = 1.115, 95% CI 0.273-4.552) less likely to have healthy compared to the people who did not have depression. In this study, we have seen that there were many factors that were associated with health status among different communities’ elderly people in Sylhet. This research will help clinicians and policymakers to develop appropriate strategies of CVD patients and organize health education programs for changing lifestyles among elderly in Sylhet. Asian J. Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) based smart homes are proving to be an ideal candidate to provide better healthcare facilities to elderly people in their living areas. Several currently proposed techniques have implementation and usage complexities (such as wearable devices and the charging of these devices) which make these proposed techniques less acceptable for elderly people, while the behavioral analysis based on visual techniques lacks privacy. In this paper, a context-aware accurate wellness determination (CAAWD) model for elderly people is presented, where behavior monitoring information is extracted by using simple sensor nodes attached to household objects and appliances for the analysis of daily, frequent behavior patterns of elderly people in a simple and non-obtrusive manner. A contextual data extraction algorithm (CDEA) is proposed for the generation of contextually comprehensive behavior-training instances for accurate wellness classification. The CDEA presents an activity’s spatial–temporal information along with behavioral contextual correlation aspects (such as the object/appliance of usage and sub-activities of an activity) which are vital for accurate wellness analysis and determination. As a result, the classifier is trained in a more logical manner in the context of behavior parameters which are more relevant for wellness determination. The frequent behavioral patterns are classified using the lazy associative classifier (LAC) for wellness determination. The associative nature of LAC helps to integrate spatial–temporal and related contextual attributes (provided by CDEA) of elderly behavior to generate behavior-focused classification rules. Similarly, LAC provides high accuracy with less training time of the classifier, includes minimum-support behavior patterns, and selects highly accurate classification rules for the classification of a test instance. CAAWD further introduces the ability to contextually validate the authenticity of the already classified instance by taking behavioral contextual information (of the elderly person) from the caregiver. Due to the consideration of spatial–temporal behavior contextual attributes, the use of an efficient classifier, and the ability to contextually validate the classified instances, it has been observed that the CAAWD model out-performs currently proposed techniques in terms of accuracy, precision, and f-measure.

A continuous monitoring of the physical strength and mobility of elderly people is important for maintaining their health and treating diseases at an early stage. However, frequent screenings by physicians are exceeding the logistic capacities. An alternate approach is the automatic and unobtrusive collection of functional measures by ambient sensors. In the current publication, we show the correlation among data of ambient motion sensors and the wellestablished mobility assessment Short-Physical-Performance-Battery and Tinetti. We use the average number of motion sensor events for correlation with the assessment scores. The evaluation on a real-world dataset shows a moderate to strong correlation with the scores of standardised geriatrics physical assessments.

Appropriate and accurate detection of the people like the elderly and patients suffering from imbalanced-oriented problems is a significant step to implement the necessary actions in order to enhance quality of life and increase their independence during their life. The aim of this paper was to investigate the differences in performance of parametric and non-parametric classifiers in recognition of daily activities of people. As daily affairs of human being can change dynamically, new patterns may emerge as well as an old habit may be forgotten or stopped to be used. It is difficult to build a classifier that will have a full description of all possible ways to perform an activity. In this research, for exact identification of everyday activities, data collected from information of four accelerometers in noteworthy points of body which have the greatest role in the process of identifying and separating activities. This dataset was acquired from UCI Machine Learning database. After extraction of convenient features, different algorithms including KNN and Neuro-fuzzy classifiers were applied to data to check the rate of accuracy in exact recognition of daily activities. The results showed that the KNN classifier as anon-parametric classifier encompasses the highest accuracy rate of about 99.758[Formula: see text]. It is concluded that recognizing activities using multiple small body-worn accelerometers and implementing an optimized unobtrusive approach can lead us to a significant result.

Abstract Objectives Though Bangladesh is passing through demographic, epidemiologic and nutritional transitions, national estimates on nutrition and health status of the elderly population are largely unknown. We aimed to determine the status of selected health and nutrition indicators among the elderly population in Bangladesh. Methods For the first time in Bangladesh, we included elderly population (≥60 years old females and males) as a separate population group in the national food security and nutrition surveillance round 2018–2019. We collected data on dietary diversity, nutritional status, behavioral risk factors of non-communicable diseases, blood pressure, and self-reported chronic diseases from 4,818 elderly people (48% female) living in 82 clusters (57 rural, 15 non-slums urban, and 10 slums) randomly selected from eight administrative division of Bangladesh. Results Majority (59% in rural, 53% in non-slum urban, and 69% in slums) of elderly people were consuming an inadequately diverse (4 or less food groups out of 10) diet. Overall, 89% of elderly people were malnourished (20%) or at risk of malnutrition (69%). The highest prevalence of malnutrition was in Mymensingh division (37%) followed by Sylhet division (27%). The prevalence of obesity was 5%, 16%, and 11%, in rural, non-slum urban, and slums, respectively. The national prevalence of smoking, smokeless tobacco consumption, physical inactivity was 18%, 52%, and 38%, respectively. There was a high burden of hypertension (49% in rural, 53% in non-slum urban, and 39% in slums). Overall, 16% of elderly people had heart diseases, 14% had chronic respiratory diseases, 3% had kidney diseases, 9% had diabetes, 8% had stroke, 0.5% had cancer and 1.4% had mental health problems. Conclusions The government of Bangladesh should design and implement health and nutrition programs among the elderly population. The regional differences in the prevalence of health and nutrition indicators should be considered while designing such programs. The natural aging process accelerate the appearance and the installation of diseases and symptoms characteristic of the age in which the physical and cognitive aspects are compromised progressively. Increasing the necessity of specialized cares and intensive accompaniment. This study aimed to evaluate through the Nursing Activities Score appliance, the nursing team’s working load, destined to elderly people assisted at intensive unit care and subsidize the personal sizing according to what advocate the legislation. It is about a descriptive and documental study of quantitative approach. It was used as data basis 50 patient records of elderly users admitted at a public intensive unit care from João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil. It was determined that 56% (28) of the elderly in his first hospitalization day at the Intensive Unit Care, required a nursing high working load while 44% (42) a nursing low working load. Through the sum of the Nursing Activities Score average score, we can achieve the total of hours at the nursing assistance necessaries to the elderly patient care during the hospitalization. The average scores obtained by the total score, corresponded to 59.2 ± 7.8, transforming in hours according to the conducted calculus, correspond to 14.47 hours of nursing assistance turned to the elderly people. It is waited that the results can contribute to quantify the expended assistance time and also evidence the real necessity of the people to ensure safe and quality assistance practices to the elderly people.  Descriptors: Workload. BACKGROUND: More elderly people have begun to take physical exercises to realize physical fitness, and the rationalization and standardization of public sports facilities has become a key issue of social concern. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to fully understand the specific public service needs of the elderly, and puts forward corresponding measures. METHODS: Survey sampling is adopted to investigate the health conditions and physical exercises of the elderly in Zhengzhou. The data are analyzed using the single factor analysis and mediation effect analysis. RESULTS: The proportion of men and women among the surveyed elderly is equal, the people of 70–75 years old is the most; and 89.1%elderly people suffer from chronic diseases. The elderly is very satisfied with the public physical exercise areas and public physical exercise equipment. 62.7%of the elderly take part in sports occasionally. In addition, health risk knowledge plays a mediating role (24.02) between the service satisfaction of public physical exercise and sports exercise. CONCLUSIONS: Construction of public physical exercise services in Zhengzhou should be strengthened to improve the satisfaction of the elderly with public sports services

Background: Health is serious matter for the elderly people especially living in old aged homes. In this context, this study has tried to explore the health status of elderly people living in old aged homes. Methods: Information were collected from fifty seven elderly people living in purposively selected three major old aged homes of Pokhara by using structured questionnaire through interview techniques. The elderly people, who were unable to speak, hear, complete the interview process, have severe psychiatric disorder, did not have verbal consent to participate were excluded from the study. Descriptive analysis was carried out for this research. Results: Majority (87.7%) of the respondents had chronic physical health problem like back pain problem as major followed by other musculoskeletal problems, gastrointestinal disease, hypertension, respiratory problem, diabetes mellitus, heart disease, eyes and ears problem. The proportion of female was higher than male regarding their chronic physical health problem. Majority went to hospital when they were sick. Half of the respondents were worried about economic insecurity followed by lack of social relation, lack of treatment during illness, fear of future, lack of recreational activities, food management of old age homes, environment of elderly official, sitting and sleeping environment of elderly home and others respectively. All the respondents prayed god to cope with these stress followed by listening to religious hymns, go to religious places, solitary living, crying alone, and take cigarettes/alcohols. Conclusions: Health status of elderly people living in old aged home was not good since most of the elderly were suffered from chronic physical health problem. Females are more vulnerable.
