The sample for this study consisted of 84 management staff from the four leading Telecommunication giants (MTN, Globacom, Airtel and 9 Mobile). The data for this research was collected using the questionnaire method. The Kendall Tau statistical tool was used to test the relationships between the variables under review. The findings reveal a significant positive relationship between Exploration and both of Resource utilization and Goal focus. It was concluded based on our statistical analysis that organizational exploration enhances corporate health. More specifically, it was concluded that exploration enhances resource utilization and goal focus. In view of these results and conclusions above, this study recommends that; Managers should acknowledge the importance of exploration in fostering a better resource utilization which will bring about a healthy organization. Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the relationship between customers’ emotional attachment toward bank service providers and bank loyalty. In particular, the study examines the impact of the emotional attachment factor while treating established effecting variables by employing a new conceptual framework that integrates these variables. Design/methodology/approach – The study employs data collected from a survey involving 436 participants. The study employs Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis methods following a path analysis method and structural equation modeling for testing research hypotheses. Findings – The empirical results support the claim that the conceptual framework applied in this study better explains the relationship between customers’ emotional attachment toward bank service providers and bank loyalty. Specifically, the findings show a significant, direct and positive relationship between the customer’s emotional attachment and bank loyalty; an indirect positive relationship also exists through the connection of customer satisfaction. The study distinguishes between two integrated pathways consumers possibly follow when making decisions about services: the conscious decision-making process path and the emotional process path. Practical implications – The paper provides managerial and planning implications to bank service providers who seek to achieve excellent performance and a positive brand personality, thus maintaining long-lasting relationships with their customers. Originality/value – The study is among the few empirical works to specifically examine the impact of customers’ emotional attachment on bank loyalty and contributes to the available literature in that it suggests a systematic conceptual framework that evaluates the impact of key factors on bank loyalty.

This paper examines the relationship between financial qualification of the audit committee (AC) chairman on corporate sustainability (CS) in developing the economy of Pakistan, which has a weak corporate environment. In a sample of companies listed on Pakistan Stock exchange (PSX) during 2010-2014. Empirical results of 1020 firm-year observations indicate that the presence of financially qualified AC chairman has a positive relationship with firm’s accrual quality. The results found that accounting qualification of AC chairman has significant positive relation with CS performance. Furthermore, the study found that powerful CEO is also not able to influence CS in the presence of accounting qualified AC chairman, but this result is not present if AC chairman is non-accounting qualified. This study extends the literature on the impact of accounting qualification of AC members and CS and offers some significant understanding into efficient corporate practices to achieve sustainability goals. This study suggests the presence of accounting qualified member in AC which results in effective monitoring for the increased financial performance of the organization.

e17530 Background: The impact of baseline tumor burden (bTB) and percentage reduction in tumor burden (dTB) on patient outcome has not been systematically studied in oncology clinical trials. We assess the relationship between both bTB and dTB and objective response (OR), progression free and overall survival (PFS and OS) in bevacizumab (B) and trastuzumab (T) trials. Methods: We analyzed 3 B and 1 T Ph 3 mBC and mCRC trials of > 1800 patients total. We used correlations and Cox models for the relationships between pairs of variables and multivariate Cox models to evaluate TB and PFS as independent predictors of OS. Here, we present the minimum dTB value until progression. Results: bTB is not related to dTB, OR rate or PFS time; it is negatively related to OS. dTB shows a strong positive relationship with PFS and OS. TB and PFS are independent predictors of OS, with PFS the better predictor. Results at earlier dTB assessments and within treatment arms are similar. Conclusions: Patients with high bTB are equally likely to respond to treatment and to have prolonged PFS as those with lower bTB, but high bTB is a negative predictor for OS. In contrast, greater percentage reductions in TB are strongly associated with better PFS and OS outcomes. Tumor burden and PFS are independent predictors of OS. Owing to these relationships, assessing bTB and dTB, as well as OR, PFS and OS, may improve the interpretation of phase II data. [Table: see text] [Table: see text]

Abstract: The purpose of the study was to explore the impact of electronic commerce on business performance with specific focus on business organisations in Harare, Zimbabwe. This was achieved through investigating the relationship between e-commerce investment and indicators of business performance such as cost operations, service operations and profit levels. A structured questionnaire was developed and administered to 40 respondents from 10 e-commerce organisations. The study revealed that there was a positive relationship between e-commerce investment and business performance. It was revealed that an investment in e-commerce by organisations in Zimbabwe would increase profit levels, improve service operations and reduce transaction costs. The researchers recommended that organisations that have already adopted e-commerce should raise customer awareness and interest in e-commerce and promote the usage of the technology. They also recommended that policy makers such as the Government must take a leading role in the funding of education and the development of infrastructure in order to encourage more organizations and consumers to participate in e-commerce.Keywords: E-commerce, Business performance, Business organisations, Service operations, Cost operations

Purpose: To analyze the relationship between investments in technology and the profitability of the five largest Brazilian banks between 2009 and 2018.Theoretical framework: Through correlation analysis and panel data regression, the impact of technology investment on Return on Assets (ROA) was specifically assessed.Design/methodology/approach: Despite the growth in investment in banking technology, the level of disclosure by publicly traded companies in Brazil is still limited, with few details disclosed in corporate reports about the amounts invested, of the types investments made, the expected return and the returns already obtained with previous investments. This disclosure is influenced by factors such as company size and profitability.Findings: In the present study, a positive relationship was identified between investment in T.I and Return on Assets (ROA) of the banks analyzed and, therefore, the presence of a profitability paradox was not found.Originality/value: There was a positive relationship between investment in IT and performance. There was a significant positive correlation at 5% between IT investments and financial performance, given by the relationship between profit before depreciation and total sales. The regression analysis found that an increase in IT investments raised the company's financial performance (Beta = 0.204 and p 0.1). The increase in the share of IT investments in operating expenses increased the Return on Assets by 0.039 percentage points.Research, Practical Social implications: Gain knowledge in the management of banking organizations in order to guide in the decision-making about technological investments that should be made.

The relationship between investment in R&D and company performance has attracted the interest of several research. Vast amount of research have been carried to figure out whether this relationship exist or not. Some researchers suggest that there is no relationship between R&D expenses and firm performance; others put forward the existence of negative or positive relationship. It can be asserted that possible existence as useful information can be consumed by managers to increase the market value of firms. In that respect, the main aim of this research is to reveal the relationship between R&D and firm performance by taking into account 12 companies that are listed on the BIST Technology Index for 5 years periods (between 2010 and 2014). In order to accomplish this purpose, we employed pooled regression model and cross sectional time series analysis technique. In general, although negative and positive coefficients are found, almost, all of them is not statistically significant. In other words, according to outcomes, it can be claimed that there is no relationship between R&D and firm performance which is line with previous studies.
