the field of occupational safety. In the coal sector of Russia, these indicators remain unacceptably high. In the structure of professional diseases of the Joint-Stock Company "SUEK", the most frequent are diseases caused by physical overload. It is worth noting that the high severity of labor is characteristic of working professions at mining, construction, mechanical engineering and metallurgy enterprises. The purpose of this study is to analyze occupational diseases in the mining industry and to consider the possibility of using an exo-skeleton in workplaces with high labor intensity.

Over the past 10 years, the mining industry of Russia has seen a greater than three-fold decrease in injury rates, thanks to the successful implementation of innovative labor safety technologies. Despite this, injury levels remain unacceptably high compared to the leading mining countries, which results in increased mining costs. For the mining areas of the Arctic Zone—unlike other regions located in areas with a more favorable climate—the injury rates are influenced not only by the underground labor conditions, but also by the adverse environmental factors. For the Russian Arctic zone, the overall injury risk is proposed to be calculated as the combined impact of occupational and background risk. In this article, we have performed correlation analysis of the overall injury risks in regions of the Arctic zone and regions with favorable climate conditions. Using the Kirov branch of “Apatit”, Joint-stock company (JSC) as an example, we have calculated the risks related specifically to occupational injury rates. We have constructed the relative injury risks and their changes over time and have developed a “basic injury rate matrix” that makes it possible to visualize the results of the comparative analysis of the injury rates on the company’s production sites and to determine priority avenues for improving the occupational safety and lowering the injury rates.

The practice of dust control on coal mines and technological roads both in Russia and abroad shows that reducing dust content, to the maximum permissible concentrations is a very difficult engineering task. To combat dust in open pit mines, various methods and techniques are used. The study of progressive dust control agents will allow normalizing sanitary and hygienic conditions at mining enterprises, and reducing the level of occupational diseases of miners. The article deals with the types of dust and the fact that a large amount of dust accompanies the processes of extraction and transportation of coal from the open-cast to the concentration plant. The experience of dust control at the enterprises of Joint Stock Company Siberian Anthracite is given.

The article is devoted to the urgent problem of retaining young specialists at the enterprises of the Russian mining industry. It defines the importance of such an important area of work of personnel management services, as primary adaptation, for the successful solution of this problem. The complex content of adaptation programs for young specialists is revealed and the main strategies for their retention in modern conditions are outlined. At the theoretical level of consideration of the problem, general scientific research methods were used, as well as specific sociological analysis and content analysis of the works of leading Russian scientists in the field of personnel management. The applied significance of the article is to describe the practical work of the personnel management services of the Joint Stock Company ALROSA to retain young specialists at the mining industry enterprises.

The article describes the concept of «zero injury», within the framework of which the current level of injury rate in the coal industry is analyzed, the causes of juries are given, and also, the problem of personnel qualification is raised. On the example of JSC «SUEK-Kuzbass», the analysis of industrial injury rate is presented. There are three key causes of injury: technical, systemic, and human factors. Qualitative dependence of the level of injury rate on time is given in the implementation of preventive measures — technical, systemic, and aimed at the formation of a safety culture, proposed by the International Labor Organization as a hypothesis confirmed at the number of enterprises in the mining industry, construction, and transport. Detailed analysis is conducted on such factors as profession, age and experience of the victims, the time elapsed after the start of the shift until the injury at work, as well as the competence of employees in safety matters. According to the analysis over the past three years, the most traumatic professions are: drifter, engineering and technical worker, underground miner, electrical fitter (locksmith), face miner, mining operator and driver. The most frequent injuries occurred with the employees with work experience of up to a year, from 5 to 10 years, and over 15 years. By age groups, the largest number of injuries was recorded for the employees aged from 31 to 35 years, which roughly corresponds to 5–10 years of work experience. Considering such a factor as the time from the beginning of a work shift to injury, it shall be noted that the greatest number of injuries occurs at the beginning of the shift and in the period 4–7 hours from the beginning of the shift. In accordance with GOST R ISO 45001—2020, the conducted analysis is an element of risk assessment and opportunities for further improvement of training programs for the employees in the field of occupational safety.

Abstract The article describes the main performances of the global coal industry, as well as key occupational safety and health indicators (OSH indicators) of the coal mining industry of the Russian Federation. The main goal of the article is to present the results of research of potential utilisation of the Elmeri observation method in order to evaluate safety levels at underground coal mines. The investigation performed taking into consideration two root causes of the occupational traumatism (methane and/or dust explosions, as well as rock falls) has demonstrated good correlation between the calculated values of the safety index and results of the risk assessments at the same underground coal mine under consideration. In addition, the article includes a brief discussion of advantages and restrictions in respect of utilisation of the safety index as the OSH monitoring tool at coal mines.

The paper reconstructs the process of accumulation of scientific knowledge on the geology of the North-East of Russia and evaluates the results. On the basis of extensive collections of documents in the State Archive of the Russian Federation, Russian State Archive of Economy, Russian State Archive of Socio-Political History, State Ar-chive of the Magadan Region, and local publications of 1930–1940, and memoirs of contemporaries we ac-cessed the contribution of geologists of joint-stock company «Soyuzzoloto» to the sharing of scientific knowledge on the mineral potential of North-East Russia. This provides better understanding of the practice of mining development in the North-East of Russia, introduces the valuable types of mineral raw materials into economic circulation, personal aspects of this phenomenon. The huge amount of factual material collected by «Soyuzzoloto» required the scientific and technical support of the mining industry. All necessary resources of the North-East of Russia were organized of in a single center ––the «Dalstroy» trust.
