The history of medical and pharmaceutical education development is part of the social history. The quality of medical personnel training determines the efficiency of the entire health care system and has been a priority area of development throughout the history of the Russian state. The paper reflects the main stages of the medical education system development in the period from the 17th century to the present. The training of medical personnel in Russia began in the second half of the 17th century, when, under the Pharmaceutical Order, a medical school was established in 1654to train doctors for the needs of the army.The need to provide qualified medical personnel remains relevant, both in wartime and in peacetime. The reforms of medical education that have been taking place over the centuries make it possible to diversify educational programs, as well as the to introduce new educational technologies, considering modern requirements and global trends. The study of the historical aspects of domestic medicine determines a more competent approach to the development of the health care system and medical education.

Kosovo and the region have had a traditionally long history of problems with the health care system. The situation worsened since the ex-Yugoslav conflict in the nineties when Kosovo inherited a large, hierarchical, and centralized healthcare system from socialist Yugoslavia (UNDP, 2013). This paper focuses on the effects of globalization on health in Kosovo; more specifically the effect of Global Food Trade in Kosovo's health and the development of information technology and telemedicine in Kosovo. Further, this paper focuses on the opportunities for Kosovars to obtain healthcare outside of Kosovo as well as prospects for the medical personnel to practice their profession abroad.

Abstract Persons suffering from chronic and life limiting illnesses often have unrelieved symptoms such as pain, depression, fatigue, and psychosocial and spiritual distress. In Romania they are frequently left in the care of their families with little support from the health care system. It seems a paradox that those who are the sickest persons in a country find little place in the health care system. This article presents palliative care as a solution to the suffering for these patients and their families by describing the concept, models of services, its beneficiaries and benefits and presenting the history of development of hospice and palliative care worldwide and in Romania.

The research analyses the history of development and organization of medical educational establishments in the Western Ukraine in the second half of XVIII–XIX century. The article discusses the method of analysing bibliographic catalogues, classification and systematization of primary sources in History of Medicine and Pedagogy, and chronological method that identifies the establishment and development of medical education during different historical periods. The paper describes the structure of medical education system in the Western Ukraine in the second half of XVIII–XIX century and summarizes available data about professional and scientific activity of the outstanding Ukrainian doctors of this period. The main characteristics of medical education development in the mentioned historic period are: gradual increase in the number of medical establishments, medical departments, faculties, and students; improvement and transformation of medical personnel education and training.

In the article the history of origine of the International Latin Association of Health Care System Analylis, its functions and different scientific problems which refl ect the health level of population in different countries, is presented. Besides of that, there are information about Association of the Republic of Moldova, which is a collective member from 2007 and it’s 4–8 persons make reports every year. There are given recommendations, how to become Personal or Collective Member of ALASS.

One vital goal of medical education is to promote the development of desirable professional qualities among future physicians, such as compassion, empathy, and humanism. Future physicians must finish their training prepared to meet the changing health needs of society, yet in reality many students graduate from medical school more cynical and less empathetic than when they began. During clinical clerkships, many students experience an “ethical erosion” as they transition in to real world clinical settings. Through innovative longitudinal integrated curricular designs focusing on continuity, medical students participate in the comprehensive care of patients over time and have continuous ongoing learning relationships with the responsible clinicians. As patients place increasing importance on the doctor-patient relationship, learning models that foster stronger connections between medical students and their patients, as well as with their teachers and communities, are needed in order to better prepare the next generation of physicians to serve a changing health care system.

This paper presents definitions of primary care and the dimensions of the health care crisis in general and of the primary care crisis in particular. The importance of team practice in primary care is described, as are the necessity of creating the social physician as team leader and some changes which appear to be necessary in medical education in order to begin moving toward a solution of the primary care crisis. Primary care is what most patients need most of the time. Changes in the medical education system—changes as fundamental as those which paved the way for the research establishment-will be required to provide it.

ABSTRACTPresent day health-care philosophy strongly favors an increased attention to mental health related issues. However, the lack of an adequate number of trained specialists in India in this field makes it imperative that the burden is shared by general practitioners at large. But our current medical education system may not be equipped enough to prepare them for the task.
