This study is intended to explain the legal protection given to elementary school children to get the right to education during the COVID 19 period. Because education for children is a child's right that must be fulfilled as a human right. Moreover, the right to education has been explicitly guaranteed in the Amendment to the 1945 Constitution. For this reason, legal research is carried out with an empirical juridical approach which intends to study and analyze the workings of law in society by using secondary data and primary data. The secondary and primary data collected were analyzed qualitatively, then the results were described. Based on an analysis conducted on research conducted in Firdaus Village, Serdang Bedagai Regency, that the right to education for elementary school children during the COVID 19 period was still being fulfilled despite the prohibition on conducting face-to-face learning processes at schools. The implementation of education is carried out through distance learning meetings in the network and distance learning outside the network. In addition, it was also found that there was limited face-to-face learning. However, the use of this learning method takes into account the development of the COVID-19 situation and also the facilities owned by schools, teachers and the condition of students in participating in learning. Schools and teachers evaluate children's education to determine the learning process that will be used.

Anumber of youth movement activities, e.g. running, walking, jumping, climbing trees, throw-ing and catching a ball, has been on a decline in the current European cultural space. The results of this research contribute to broadening the knowledge about the level of basic motor competencies and qualifications of the 1st and 2nd grade elementary children in the Slovak Republic. The primary data on the basic motor competencies and qualifications of the examined group (n=307, age = 7.58 ± 0.69 years) were collected by means of the MOBAK 1‒2 test battery (Herrmann et al., 2018b). The significance of differences between boys (n=156, age 7.62 ± 0.69) and girls (n=151, age 7.55 ± 0.70) was evaluated by Student’s t-test in two independent groups. The boys in the first grade (n = 97) achieved a significantly better performance in basic motor competency object movements (x = 5.17 ± 1.79 points) than their female peers (n=88, x = 3.52 ± 1.78). The girls in the second grade did not achieve a statistically better performance in the movement qualifications in throwing, balancing and rolling than the first-graders of the same gender. Knowledge of the level of basic motor com-petencies and qualifications of the Slovak elementary school children allows the national and European educational and cultural authorities to design and improve the content of physical and sport education classes.

ABSTRACT

Background: Obesity in Indonesian school children is increasing dramatically especially in the cities. Whether TV viewing has an important role to the increased obesity prevalence Indonesia is still unclear.

Objective: To examine TV viewing as a risk factor of obesity in Indonesian elementary school children.

Method: A case-control study of 244 obese and 244 non obese children was conducted in Yogyakarta municipality in 2012. Cases were elementary school children with BMI/Age >95 percentile identifi ed in previous survey. Controls were children from the same class and seating at the right side nearest to the cases. Weight of the children was measured using a calibrated digital weighing scale (SECA) with precision of 0.1 kg, while standing height was measured using a microtoice with precision of 0.1 cm by trained nutritionists. Data on TV viewing were collected using one-week physical activity recall questionnaires. BMI of the study subjects were computed using WHO Anthro2005 software. Statistical analysis was done using STATA 11th edition software.

Result: Children with TV viewing ≥2 hours/day were 3 (OR=3.3, 95%CI: 2.2-4.8) times more likely to be obese than children with TV viewing <2 hours/day. Parental regulation of tv viewing was associated with child’s TV viewing duration.

Conclusion: Duration of TV viewing was signifi cantly associated with the increased risk of obesity in elementary school children. The existence of parental regulation would help to reduce TV viewing duration leading to the reduction of obesity prevalence in school children.

KEYWORDS: obesity, elementary school children, TV viewing

The school from home (SFH) policy during the COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on the routine activities of elementary students at home. Prior to COVID-19, the time spent by elementary school children using gadgets ranged from 1 to 2 hours per day, while during SFH elementary students could spend at least 4 hours per day. The increasing intensity and frequency of gadget use among elementary school students makes the role of parents important in accompanying children. Of course, the role of parents is needed so that children can use gadgets wisely to support educational goals, not just for entertainment purposes. The purpose of this study is to strengthen the role of parents in assisting elementary school children to use gadgets during the COVID-19 pandemic through outreach and mentoring activities. The subjects involved were 30 parents who have elementary school children in Porodeso Village, Sekaran District, Lamongan Regency. The method of implementation uses face-to-face techniques (with health protocols), door to door, and online (online using whatsapp group). Based on the results of interviews with parents after participating in the program, it shows that most parents have understood and implemented the gadget assistance material for children. The principles of gadget assistance for elementary school children include: exemplary, agreement, consistency, and serenity.

Technologies are becoming an integral component of study process. Opportunities brought by digitalisation in the field of education are not at variance with the right to education and conform to the right to exploit the achieved scientific and technical progress for enhancing human life and welfare; moreover, there no grounds for asserting that knowledge and skills acquired remotely are at a lower level than the results of face-to-face learning. However, to develop a uniform understanding and create a stable legal basis for the evolution of remote studying, legislative amendments that would define remote studying and set forth related requirements are needed. The aim of the research is the analysis of remote studies as a form and practice of education, evaluating the provisions of regulatory enactments in order to find out its admissibility and compliance with the right to education. The research uses document analysis, as well as methods of interpretation of legal norms and induction-deduction method, drawing conclusions and making proposals for improving regulatory enactments and practice of higher education establishments. However, there exist various interpretations of the content of remote studies. The management of higher education establishments are also discussing the construction of the term ‘contact hour’ provided in the Law on Higher Education Institutions, including remote studying that at least partially duplicates distance and open learning and additional requirements concerning the organisation of the remote study process.

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the implementation of face-to-face learning in schools (offline) to online. These changes make children unable to learn optimally due to various obstacles. This condition also affects the development and psychology of children. Data shows that the number of violence against children since the Covid-19 pandemic has tended to increase. On the other hand, children have the right to get protection and to grow properly in the context of education. The purpose of this study was to determine legal protection for children by analyzing legal provisions in Indonesia in protecting children's rights in online learning systems. The research method used is juridical normative with data sources obtained from primary, secondary, and tertiary sources. The data that has been collected is then presented in a structured and logical manner and analyzed descriptively. The results of the study found that legal protection instruments for children's rights in online learning systems already exist but their implementation has not been optimal. Socialization to prioritize children's growth and development rights in providing children's education rights during the Covid-19 pandemic must be more actively voiced to all Education Offices, heads of education units, educators, students, and parents of students.
