The purpose of this study is to obtain a description concerning the application of the right discipline influences and the pastor’s role model towards the faithfulness of the pastor’s children to God. This study uses the descriptive method by giving a questionnaire to the pastor’s children whose parents serve as the pastor at the Jakarta Local Conference Seventh Day Adventist Church with 108 samples of pastor’s children aged from 15 years old randomly determined. The results show that most of the pastor’s children had a good perception of the application of the right discipline that must be started early and the role model of the pastors towards the faithfulness of pastor’s children to God. The expected implication is that the pastor and his whole family can be a good example for the church community in particular so as not to be a bad impact on the spiritual growth of the congregation.AbstrakTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan deskripsi tentang penerapan disiplin yang benar dan peran keteladanan pendeta terhadap kesetiaan anak-anak pendeta kepada Tuhan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan memberikan angket kepada anak-anak pendeta dimana orang tua mereka melayani di Gereja Masehi Advent Hari Ketujuh (GMAHK) Konfrens DKI Jakarta dengan sampel 108 orang anak-anak pendeta dengan usia 15 tahun keatas yang ditentukan secara acak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar anak pendeta memiliki persepsi yang baik mengenai penerapan disiplin yang benar yang harus dimulai sejak dini, dan bahwa pendeta harus menunjukan keteladanan melalui pola hidup bukan hanya melalui pengajaran, sehingga melalui penerapan disiplin yang benar dan peran keteladanan seorang pendeta akan mempengaruhi peningkatan kesetiaan anak-anak pendeta kapada Tuhan. Implikasi yang diharapkan adalah agar pendeta dan seluruh keluarganya dapat menjadi teladan yang baik bagi masyarakat gereja secara khusus agar tidak menjadi dampak buruk bagi pertumbuhan kerohanian jemaat.

This article embraces the Sola Scriptura approach of the reformed theology. Firstly, the article focuses on the crisis in Youth Ministry, namely its inefficiency in leading young people to Christian maturity. It addressed one of the contributing factors to the crisis: the isolation of youth from the adult world, and particularly from their own parents and the larger church community. From the Sola Scripturaprinciple, a family-orientated approach to effective Youth Ministry is proposed where parents are expected to take responsibility for their children’s spiritual growth. The church should then support parents and families in this process. Different role players in a family-orientated Youth Ministry are identified and some new perceptions regarding their different tasks are proposed.Effektiewe Jeugbediening: Omhelsing van ’n familie-georiënteerde benadering. Hierdie artikel ondersteun die Sola Scriptura-benadering van die reformatoriese teologie. Aanvanklik fokus die artikel op die huidige krisis in Jeugbediening, naamlik dat Jeugbediening nie effektief toegepas word om jongmense tot volwasse Christenskap te lei nie. Dit bespreek een van die bydraende faktore tot hierdie krisis: die jeug se isolasie van die volwasse wêreld − spesifiek van hulle eie ouers en die groter kerkgemeenskap. Vanuit ’n Sola Scriptura-benadering word ’n familie-geörienteerde benadering tot effektiewe Jeugbediening waar dit van ouers verwag word om verantwoordelikheid vir hulle kinders se geestelike groei te neem, as uitkoms voorgestel. Die kerk behoort dan ouers en families in hierdie proses te ondersteun. Verskillende rolspelers in familie-georiënteerde Jeugbediening word geïdentifiseer en ’n paar nuwe insigte aangaande hulle verskillende take word voorgestel.

Pastor is an ordinary human being just like any other human being, but what makes him different is that he can be a solution provider for problems faced by many people. So to be a pastor of the church is a calling that must be accompanied by abilities that complement it in carrying out its duties. In carrying out its duties and functions, an example is needed. To be an example must be faced with suffering which is accompanied by patience. The pastor of the church as a head must have an example both spiritually and also family. One of the criteria for the pastor's role model is his patience. Using a literature approach, this paper presents the patience that pastors need to have as role models for their congregations. The conclusion shows that patience is seen in facing difficult things, in achieving goals, in receiving Allah's instruction, and in suffering. Patience is a gift from God that enables every believer to be able to recognize the right decisions and act correctly in the face of suffering.Gembala adalah seorang manusia biasa yang sama seperti manusia lainnya, namun yang membedakan adalah dia dapat menjadi pemberi solusi untuk masalah yang dihadapi banyak orang. Sehingga untuk menjadi seorang gembala jemaat adalah sebuah panggilan yang harus dibarengi dengan kemampuan-kemampuan yang memperlengkapi di dalam menjalankan tugasnya. Di dalam menjalankan tugas dan fungsinya diperlukan sebuah keteladanan. Untuk menjadi sebuah teladan pasti berhadapan dengan penderitaan yang dibarengi juga kesabaran. Gembala jemaat sebagai seorang kepala harus memiliki keteladanan baik secara rohani maupun juga secara keluarga. Salah satu kriteria keteladanan gembala sidang adalah kesabarannya. Dengan pendekatan pustaka, dalam paper ini disajikan kesabaran yang perlu dimiliki oleh gembala sidang sebagai keteladanan bagi jemaatnya. Kesimpulan menunjukkan bahwa kesabaran tampak dalam menghadapi hal-hal yang sulit, dalam mencapai tujuan, pada saat menerima didikan Allah, dan dalam penderitaan. Kesabaran adalah anugerah Tuhan yang memampukan setiap orang percaya untuk bisa mengenal keputusan secara tepat dan bertindak dengan benar dalam menghadapi penderitaan.

Leadership is a task given by Jesus Christ to Christians through His Church. Leaders are needed by every human being to achieve happiness and prosperity in all fields. Thus the Church has an important role in improving leadership for the spiritual growth of God's congregation because through qualified leaders people can understand correctly how to actually follow God. With this quality leader, people can understand who and for what God created them. Seeing the existence of a congregation that always needs guidance in spiritual growth, and that requires someone who can accompany The congregation is a leader or shepherd who is often referred to as the Pastor of the congregation. And not many Christian ministers or often referred to as Congregational Pastors have these criteria. So that they cannot be an example in the lives of the people they lead. So there are criteria set out in the Bible to become a Christian leader with quality and character. A leader is someone who deserves to be a role model for others because the leader has good character and becomes a leader blessing for the church he leads.

Clapping is considered as a media of praise and thanks in Christian worship. Some give space to this practice while other reject it. This article tried to identify the biblical foundation of these ideas, and was carried out through the following phases: formulating the problem, preparing the title, and searching the related supporting materials in the library research and electronic facilities. The research focused on three main aspects: the clapping in the Bible, the Christian and practice of clapping in worship services, and clapping in Seventh-day Adventist Church.  It is found that there is no Bible text and theological evidence which support the practice of clapping in the place of worship, in other words clapping in the church services is unbiblical, and for this reason clapping in Seventh-day Adventists worship services is not necessary. Instead of clapping, the use of amen is suggested in responding the message or musical presentation. Since clapping has become controversial issue in Adventist worship services, the church leaders need to instruct and guide the church members to the right understanding of clapping.   Keywords: clapping; applaus; worship; praise

The study was about an Assessment of the Challenges facing Single Mothers on their Spiritual Growth in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. The objective was to establish the biblical and theological foundations for single mothers on their spiritual growth in the Seventh Dy Adventist Church. The Marxist Theory of Feminism was used. The study was conducted in Kisii County which is in Western Kenya. The target population in the study included 5 Churches within the Nyanchwa Station, South Kenya Conference. The researcher employed a census sampling method from the 5 churches with a sample population of 105 participants. The main instruments of data collection for the study were questionnaires, focused group discussions, and oral interviews. The study established the biblical and theological foundations for single mothers by referencing single mothers in the Bible. The study recommended that all aspects of inclusivity, acceptance and being welcome need to be accorded to all Christians, regardless of their marital status; The Church in Africa could borrow a leaf from the Church in the West in practicing the doctrine and social teaching of the church, about accepting members as they come; and Pastoral Councils and Christians in leadership need to be on the front line in practicing inclusiveness and acceptance of every Christian. <p> </p><p><strong> Article visualizations:</strong></p><p><img src="/-counters-/edu_01/0780/a.php" alt="Hit counter" /></p>

The ever-expanding changes times have an impact on many people even more on the lives of Christian teens. The teenage phase is a pretty hard time to deal with because of many influences around both positive and negative. This phase is also in which a person’s mind begins to form and depends on the circumstances surrounding them. This study aims to provide an overview of the self-concept of Christian teens in the face of changing times that continue to develop. Researches use a literature study approach to find the main picture of the research in question. The results showed that Christian youth in facing the changing times needed God’s wisdom in this world and needed to be followed by the right example of life. In addition, it is necessary to present the right figures and be the right role models, both from parents and the church (youth servants, servants of God/pastors) so that there is a role model for adolescents who help them live a wiser and more responsible life even if it occurs changing times that have their own impact. Perubahan zaman yang terus berkembang tentu memiliki dampak bagi banyak orang terlebih lagi pada kehidupan remaja Kristen. Fase remaja adalah masa-masa yang cukup sulit dihadapi dikarenakan banyaknya pengaruh di sekitar baik secara positif dan juga negatif. Di fase ini pula pola pikir seseorang mulai terbentuk dan tergantung dari keadaan yang ada di sekitarnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran tentang konsep diri remaja Kristen dalam menghadapi perubahan zaman yang terus berkembang. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan studi pustaka untuk menemukan gambaran pokok penelitian yang dimaksud. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa remaja Kristen dalam menghadapi perubahan zaman, perlu hikmat Tuhan dalam dunia ini dan perlu diikuti dengan keteladan hidup yang benar. Selain itu, perlu menghadirkan tokoh-tokoh yang benar dan menjadi teladan yang benar, baik itu dari orangtua maupun gereja (pelayan remaja, hamba Tuhan/pendeta) agar ada role model bagi remaja yang membantunya dalam menjalani hidup dengan lebih bijak dan lebih bertanggungjawab sekalipun terjadi perubahan zaman yang membawa dampak tersendiri.

This article depends of beginnings of the Church, when it started to organizeitself, with well known historically-theological arguments. Peter confessed Jesus as the Christ andgot special place among Apostles. His role matures in young Church community, which is escapingfrom Jewish religion.Peter tramps the way from Jerusalem thru Antioch to Rome, confirming his appointing to thefirst among Apostles and to being Rock in the Church. Nascent Rome Church keeps this specialPeter’s succession. Clement, bishop of Rome, shows his prerogatives as a successor of Peter. Later,bishop of Cartagena, Cyprian, confirms special role both Peter and each bishop of Rome amongother bishops. He also was finding appropriate role for each of them. Статья посвящена исследованию малоизученной стороны деятельности видного русского священнослужителя протоиерея Евгения Попова, бывшего с 1842 по 1875 гг. настоятелем русской посольской церкви в Лондоне. Его служение на Английской земле совпало с углублением диалога между Русской Православной и Англиканской церквами, явившегося следствием религиозных преобразований в Англии в 1830 - 1840-е гг. Отец Евгений в рассматриваемый период фактически стал связующим звеном между русским церковноначалием и англиканами - инициаторами единения двух Церквей. Он проделал огромную работу по популяризации православия в Англии и много сделал для ознакомления русской церковной общественности с вероучением и структурными особенностями англиканства. Материалом для исследования послужили, прежде всего, письма протоиерея Евгения Попова обер-прокурорам Святейшего Синода Н. А. Протасову и А. П. Толстому. Эти документы являются своеобразными отчётами о современном состоянии Англиканской Церкви, о религиозных течениях в ней и усилиях, предпринимаемых определёнными церковными кругами в Англии по сближению с православием. Результаты его деятельности имели важное значение в последующие десятилетия, когда англикано-православный диалог вышел на церковно-государственный уровень. The article is devoted to the insufficiently studied aspects of Russian prominent cleric Archpriest Eugene Popov, rector of Russian Embassy Church in London from 1842 to 1875. His Ministry on the English soil coincided with the deepening of the dialogue between the Russian Orthodox and Anglican Churches, which was the result of religious transformations in England in the 1830s and 1840s. Father Eugene in the period under consideration actually became a connecting link between the Russian Church authorities and the anglicans-initiators of the union of the two Churches. He had done a great job by popularizing Orthodoxy in England and by familiarizing the Russian Church community with the doctrine and structural features of Anglicanism. The study, first of all, is based the letters of Archpriest Yevgeny Popov to the chief prosecutors of the Holy Synod N. A. Protasov and A. P. Tolstoy, which were original reports on the current state of the Anglican Church, it’s religious trends, and the efforts made by certain Church circles in England to get closer to Orthodoxy. The fruits of his activities were important in the following decades, when the Anglican-Orthodox dialogue reached the Church-state level.

This chapter focuses on the clergy of the Church of England. It first explains the process of selection and training for deacons and priests, along with their ordination, functions, and duties. It then considers the status and responsibilities of incumbents, patronage, and presentation of a cleric to a benefice, and suspension of presentation. It also examines the institution, collation, and induction of a presentee as well as unbeneficed clergy such as assistant curates and priests-in-charge of parishes, the authority of priests to officiate under the Extra-Parochial Ministry Measure, the right of priests to hold office under Common Tenure, and the role of visitations in maintaining the discipline of the Church. The chapter concludes with a discussion of clergy retirement and removal, employment status of clergy, vacation of benefices, group and team ministries, and other church appointments including rural or area deans, archdeacons, diocesan bishops, suffragan bishops, and archbishops.
