Community participation in development policies in countries that implement democracy including in Indonesia is not new. Community participation is a technical process to provide wider opportunities and authority to the community together to solve various problems. As a concept and practice of development, the concept of participation was only discussed in the 60s when various international institutions promoted participation in development planning, implementation and evaluation practices. The importance of the community in village development is to remember the local community who are more aware of various problems such as the construction of village infrastructure and facilities, the development of local economic potential, and the utilization of existing natural and environmental resources so as to facilitate the development planning and implementation process. The purpose of this study: To describe the condition of the community of Sukatani village, to determine community participation in infrastructure development, to determine efforts to increase community participation and to find out the supporting and inhibiting factors in efforts to increase participation. The research method used in this study is adapted to the objectives of the researcher, so this research method uses a qualitative descriptive method. The results of the pre-survey research showed that the issue of public participation in the development process was not as expected and there were still problems with community participation in development in Sukatani Village. The conclusion of the explanation above is that community participation in Sukatani Village is still relatively low. It needs an increase in the awareness and concern of the local community that it is important to participate in maintaining, caring for, and maintaining every outcome of village development that has been carried out.

Vernacular buildings in Indonesia, especially vernacular buildings of East Java, are increasingly diminishing. Many efforts have been made to maintain the existence of vernacular buildings, one of which is ex-situ conservation by re-using it adaptively as a tourist destination as found in Kampoeng Djawi Wonosalam. Translocation of vernacular buildings to new locations and new function causes changes in vernacular buildings, particularly in its structure. Changes occur as an adaption to new locations and new activities that will be accommodated. The objective of this paper is to describe the structural changes in vernacular buildings as the result of translocation. Qualitative descriptive method is used to find the structural changes, so the results obtained are actual facts. Changes that occur then analyzed with the concept of adaptive exoskeleton building. According to the results of observations and analysis, changes that occur in vernacular building translocation are caused by resilience, safety, and visual factors, as well as fulfillment of new activities.

When local communities are allowed to participate fully in tourism trade activities either through supplying goods and services or direct employment in the tourism sector-inclusiveness of tourism, trade can be realized in a practical sense. Research indicates that, in most tourist destinations in Africa, the tourism trade continues to be characterized by environmental and social-cultural degradation and inadequate local community participation associated with revenue leakages and weak economic linkages. The mechanism on how tourism trade contributes inclusively on local communities' benefits such as inclusive growth and poverty alleviation remains unclear. Despite destination economies engaging in services liberalization, little evidence exists on how such trade policies have been beneficial at enhancing inclusive benefits of the tourism trade. Therefore, this chapter aims to clarify how trade policies can be employed to promote the inclusiveness of the tourism trade.

AbstractIn order for a local community to set up mechanisms for shaping and enforcing public politics which strengthen local communities, historical research that would lead to the identity of a local community must be conducted thus enabling the identification of the community as a tourist destination. Analytical-synthetic method will be used to define the concept of a local community, that is the sustainability of a local community as one element of sustainability in general, as well as the concept of a tourist destination. The identity of a local community may be presented using basic means of visual communication (graphic design, typography, photography, illustration), which if defined and applied appropriately, will improve the distinguished identity of a local community.

Educational tourism as one of the development sectors of tourism is based on the community's need for educational variations. Educational tourism is suitable to be developed in locations that have limited locations and are in areas with residents. Tukad Bindu, as one of the densely populated areas in Denpasar, has the potential to develop educational tourism. The fast flow of the river becomes an attraction and strength in the tourism development needed by the local community. The learning model and the introduction of caring for nature can be applied to the tourist attraction of Tukad Bindu. In its development, the arrival of Covid-19 also affected the visit to the tourist attraction of Tukad Bindu which was seen in a drastic decrease in domestic tourists for almost 8 months.
